This private family getaway is a beautifully crafted mountain lodge featuring hydronically heated floors of grey granite, massive, hand hewn lodge pine timbers and locally quarried boulders throughout the interior. It is located in the private, secured community of Lahontan minutes from the Northstar Ski Resort.
The home has a commercially appointed kitchen, large enough for family cooking and gathering around the large, antiqued granite central countertop. The Master Suite is situated alone, on the second floor accessed by an open log staircase and features an open stone shower and large soaking tub. All bedrooms have king sized beds, luxury linens, and private bathrooms. The guest bath, on the main floor and easily accessible by all, features a large steam shower finished in stone. The media room has a 42' flat screen TV, top quality sound system, and Wi-Fi. The great room has 2 couches, leather chairs and a game table all overlooking a 20' high stone fireplace. The attached screened porch features wicker furniture and a BBQ kept warm with radiant heating. There is also a secluded outdoor hot tub and a wonderful outdoor fire pit for gazing at snow covered Lookout Mountain.

About the owner: We live in Lafayette, Ca. and built this home in 2005 for both summer and winter use. We continue to use the home in the summer, but we have lost interest in winter sports, and our daughter, with 2 young children, cannot break away in the winter to use it properly. We would like to rent to a family who wants a longer term winter lease in order to come and go without the hassle of loading up the car each trip. The home is beautifully furnished with hand chosen personal antiques from around the world.
Why the Owner Chose Lahontan:
Lahontan is a gated community in the Martis Valley of North Lake Tahoe. There are 6 great ski areas within a half hour drive of this home. The NorthStar Village is 10 minutes away and has a world class ice skating rink. Lahontan is a 3 hour drive from most San Francisco Bay communities and 45 minutes from the Reno, NE airport
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The home is in a gated community with frequently snowplowed roads regardless of winter weather. The home faces Northstar's Lookout Mountain and the Northstar Village Ski Lift is 10 minutes away. The home is on the 8th tee box of the private golf course, and the cart paths are maintained throughout the winter for cross country skiing and snow shoeing. The 7th green has an enormous hill that is ideal for sledding with the kids. All of this is but a walk out the back door.
