We rented this lovely house for a reunion and could not have had a more magical experience. The house was clean and stocked with everything we could need. The bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen bright and welcoming. There was plenty of room to sit and chat both inside the livingroom and outside on the deck. We were even able to squeeze some time in to relax in the hot tub! We didn't get a chance to try out the pool but that will be on our list for the next time. We were welcomed at night by fireflies and a clear bright starry night. We couldn't have asked for anything more. We had such a great time that we're already talking about when we can all get together and do it again!! If you are looking for a nice, clean, spacious, welcoming place to rent you can stop looking - this IS the place! We can't sing it's praises enough - or those of the home owner, Marlene, who was available and helpful with any and all questions we had prior to our stay.
Owner response:Thank you for the feedback...it's such a pleasure to have such wonderful guests! You're welcome back anytime! Best regards, Marlene

What a wonderful time we had in Rhinebeck this New Year's weekend. The house was in great condition, the grounds were peaceful and private. I would not hesitate to rent this house again. Thanks to Marlene for thinking of everything (the games closet was clutch).

My experience at this vacation home was truly a wonderful experience. My golden retriever absolutely loved the 3+ acre yard; especially chipmunks, squirrels, deer, and even occasional rabbit or wild turkey. After a day of walking through the backyard trails, exhausted, i was able to comfortably unwind to my book by the fireplace and doze off in a comfortable slumber. Upon waking up, i made the short journey down to the village and had what was perhaps one of the best meals in recent memory. I departed the home truly relaxed and with total peace of mind. I was left with the nostalgia of nature's tranquility, and with the happiness that it can coexist just minutes from the sprawling village of Rhinebeck. Bottom line: the house itself was beautiful, and its location (both isolated yet near town) was ideal. It was relaxing, fun, and a true vacation retreat. I will definitely return in the near future :)

Our weekend getaway to Rhinebeck, NY, went very smoothly. Your home was very comfortable, and roomy. All of the amenities listed in the description of the home were accurate, and we enjoyed the hot tub on the warm afternoons. The home was clean, and well taken care of. Emergency numbers, local restaurants, grocery store numbers were all provided. All we needed to do was relax and enjoy our visit. The pool looked beautiful, but, it was October, and didn't get the chance to go for a swim. The wildlife, (deer), wondered into the yard each day, and the serenity of the area, made the home that much more enjoyable. There was plenty to do in the home, with video games for kids, satellite tv, dvd, etc... We enjoyed the charming Rhinecliff Inn, for a wedding we were attending during that weekend. I would definatley recommend this property to anyone who enjoys a quiet, tranquil setting. The home was perfect for our two families, with the option of having one family on the first floor, and our's on the second floor. The surrounding area, along with the beautiful Hudson River made this a truly wonderful weekend. Thanks.

Ruined Vacation - Rhinebeck House of Horrors

We rented this home for a highly anticipated two week vacation in August 2010. We were so disturbed with the condition of the home that we vacated the premises after four nights. We don’t think our expectations were unreasonable given the advertisement and pictures. This was our experience: The Bad: Filth. Rodent droppings throughout the home, kitchen floors that blackened a paper towel simply by rubbing on the surface, insect infestation that included very large spiders. An abundance of new and ancient cob webs that contained dead and decaying critters (in very easily accessible places for cleaning – we’re not talking on the rafters here). We wondered when the last time the property was inspected by the owner or cleaned. We also had the luxury of suffering from the heat. When we rented the home, it was indicated on the site that there was central air. In fact, only two rooms are actually air conditioned. The main living room and one bed room. ONLY one bedroom out of the four is air conditioned. If you are planning to spend some quality time on the deck or by the pool – think again. The deck is in a dilapidated state. Shoes are certainly required and we wouldn’t let our four year old daughter play on it. The outdoor furniture required the use of cushions that were soiled with excrement and dirt and were so moldy you wouldn’t want to touch them let alone lay on them. The Good: The pool was very nice. Unfortunately, the chaise lounges were completely unusable. Our mistake was waiting three days before notifying the owner. We were so looking forward to this vacation that my wife and I were in complete denial of the situation and refused to communicate to each other for fear of ruining a trip for the other one. We are low maintenance people who, to our detriment, are not complainers. A spider the size of a silver dollar walking up my wife’s arm while she was feeding our baby was the event that forced us to acknowledge to each other just how horrified we were. When we did contact the owner, she was very responsive. A cleaning person arrived that afternoon. However, it seemed all that she did was vacuum and move a mop around. The rodent droppings were untouched as were easily accessible cob webs and the bugs came right back. To anyone considering staying at this property – consider yourself warned. We would hate for you to end up as disappointed as our family was when we had to pack up two little kids and lose a lot of money.
Owner response:We maintain that the Customer is Always Right...but some people are just downright dishonest....demanded refund after 5 staying 5 days...

We had a great time, It was hard to leave at the end of the week. The house was clean and very well maintained. The pool was warm and clean. Just what we needed a quiet and relaxing week. Also loved taking the dog for morning walks on the trails behind the house. All and all just a great stay.

Getting away from the bustle of Brooklyn was our goal. This house offered all of the comforts of home and is the quietest place I have visited. The pool was our oasis and our 2 sons delighted in the the serenity of the woods. We rescued quite a few frogs from the pool. We were amazed at all of the wildlife we encountered. On several occasions I saw a beautiful blonde fox on the property as well as chipmunks, a shrew, bats and hummingbirds. On a few of our outings into the charming town of Rhinebeck we encountered deer, wild turkeys, turkey vultures and a muskrat. As nature lovers we were so happy. We were so comfortable and on a few occasions had the opportunity to entertain friends who enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. Some of my favorite times were rising at dawn to walk our dog on the quiet road which circles the tiny neighborhood. Not once did I encounter another person on these walks and that, for a change was lovely, allowing me to be lost in my thoughts.A wonderful time was had by all.
Owner response:Thank you for your lovely comment... It's wonderful to have such gracious guests! Thanks again, Best, Marlene
