Jen, We had such a great time at the Star House over the holidays. Love your taste in decor and it was equipped with everything imaginable. We used the fireplace almost daily and took advantage of the convenient location by walking to the Co-op and to Main St. for shopping and dining. Loved Burger Bob's and of course MacKenzie River, since we have one in Indianapolis, we had to experience the "real deal" in Bozeman. Our stay included hikes on various trails, skiing at Bridger, skiing at Big Sky, which is a "must" and snowmobiling Yellowstone, another "must". The town of Bozeman is lovely. What charm. I would have to say that everyone's favorite in the house was the shower/ soaking tub upstairs with the sky light. At night the full moon shined into the bathroom. So magical. Thanks for sharing such a lovely place. We truly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back for Round II. Thanks Jen and MaximoRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much, Lisa! We are so glad you got to enjoy the Star House and Bozeman - to the fullest it sounds like! I too love the midnight showers under a full moon light coming in from the master bath skylight. :-) Please come back soon!! Jen & Maximo

We are Easterners and spent Christmas with our Western kids in Bozeman. The Star House was perfect for us - 4 adults, 2 young grand children and our son that lives in Bozeman. Located in a nice neighborhood within easy walking distance from beautiful downtown was good for young and older. The kitchen was fully equipped to prepare our traditional turkey Christmas meal, the table was festively set with appropriate plates, silverware and wine glasses (also perfect serving dishes) - all was delicious! We had a white Christmas (a pleasant couple shoveled our walkway and swept the steps to the front door!) and the perfect fireplace added to the atmosphere (great firewood!).Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We stayed at Star House in Bozeman in November. There was a major snowfall while we were there, and it was a warm and cozy place to stay! The house is well-appointed and clean. There are even snacks for guests upon arrival. Bedding and linens were awesome. Location is unbeatable. Would highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much, Wanda!! Hopefully you can stay longer next time, and I'd be thrilled to give you guys a discount for being loyal Star House fans!! :-)

We stayed at The Star House in order to assist our children who had their third child. We hosted grandson one and two at the Star House. The house was immaculately clean and ready for arrival. Check in was a snap and we were able to set up our living arrangements easily. The set up is very conducive for children with a big back yard completely enclosed. The location in town is central to many shops and restaurants, and we often found ourselves walking rather than driving. The fireplace was a big plus in Montana's ever changing climate. We cannot wait to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

In September 2012, three intrepid fly fisherman (including two well-traveled urbanites form the East Coast) descended upon Star House for a week of fishing the rivers around Bozeman. We're guys...our needs are simple: outdoor space for cigar smoking, outdoor space for a fire and outdoor space for grilling. Star House has these and more. The owners have covered all the little things that matter including knives that actually cut, and tasteful furnishings and decorations that do not have that rental house feel. Throw in easy access to nearby restaurants and groceries (and, oddly, casinos), and you have three very happy fishermen. On top of that, we enjoyed attentive owners who cared about our comfort. And, the fishing was great. Needless to say, we''ll be backRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Fantastic Summer Vacation in Bozeman Star House
Fantastic Summer Vacation in Bozeman Star House

The Star House was perfect for our summer vacation in Bozeman. We stayed there for 3 months and enjoyed everything the Bozeman area had to offer. The house was very nicely remodeled a few years ago. Here are some of the things about the house that we really liked: Location - in a nice neighborhood with a mix of long-time residents and students. About 8 blocks to downtown Bozeman shops, restaurants, and bars. We liked walking to and from dinner through the neighborhood. There's also a Co-op grocery store just 2 blocks away, and of course coffee shops on about every corner. Also a nice small park 3 blocks away for walking our dog (not to mention all the other great parks and trails in Bozeman that are very dog-friendly). Yard - our dog loved the large fenced backyard. There is also a large wooden deck that we used extensively, and a fire pit for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows (probably also nice to have when it is cooler outside). The owner was completing a major landscaping project during our stay, making the yard very attractive. Space - staying for an entire summer, we had lots of "stuff" with us. The large laundry room provided extra storage space, plus there is a large basement with living room and nice bedroom (2 single beds). The kitchen and dining rooms are very spacious. The kitchen was great as we were preparing many of our meals at home. Upstairs are two bedrooms with plenty of closet space, and a bathroom with lots of counter and storage space (and a skylight over the tub/shower that could be opened for fresh air). There is also a 1-car garage that we mostly used for storage space. Owner Responsiveness - all of our requests to the owner were handled promptly to our satisfaction. When the stove malfunctioned a repairman came right away to repair it. When I mentioned the unusually warm weather in Bozeman this summer, the owner had a window AC unit installed the next day in the master bedroom. The main street in front of the house was being reconstructed during our stay, which will be very nice for future renters. I can highly recommend the Star House to anyone planning a stay in Bozeman.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My family lived in The Star House for a week and we loved it. The house is very well furnished and equipped with all one could need. We enjoyed cooking for our family and friends, walking in the lovely neighborhood, strolling around the campus, enjoying the wonderful architecture in the historic district, and getting to all of Main Street's delights. The owner has done an excellent job updating the house with quality features and accessories, and retaining its original character. I would certainly stay at The Star House again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The Star House proved to be the best home ever to accomodate our family! It is centrally located, not only a hop, skip and jump to downtown, but also, to the Montana State campus. The bedrooms were warm and cozy, kitchen stocked with all modern conveniences, dining room large enough to sit at least six, and a wonderful backyard area ready for a gathering... Thank you! You can find me at the Star House the next time I'm in Bozeman, Montana. SallyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

About the owner: Although not a native Montanan, I felt like I should have been the very first time I entered the state, on a cross country trip from VA during undergrad. My work is in the field of green business, and so my house personifies my value system... blown-in R64 insulation, energy star appliances, reclaimed barn wood, no-VOC paints, and just a general appreciation for repurposing materials you have.... like the house siding I found in the garage, which was 'spun' into a chicken coop in the back.
Why the Owner Chose Bozeman:
I bought this home as a primary residence. I drove past it everyday for 6 months, feeling that it should be mine - then one day the 'for sale' sign went up. Standing in the entryway for the first time I told the past owner, 'I want it. Let's make it happen' - without seeing the rest of the house. You too will feel what I felt upon entering... it is special. Then my business demanded that I be in Los Angeles, and so my intentions for the house are to keep it until the day I can 'summer' in Bozeman. Candidly, I don't make any money from renting it - but it does allow me to help offset the mortgage some. Plus I just like to share it with appreciative people. It is *almost* as special as Bozeman itself.
