The minute we arrived at Casa del Sol y La Luna our blood pressures dropped and our heart rates slowed. A peaceful, quite calm came over us and everyone in our party. Perhaps the perfect Margaritas that Pablo had waiting contributed to our sense of tranquility but, the reality is, it was more than that. The layout of La Casa allowed people to have their own, private space – their secluded bedroom or a more private open area – and the larger open areas (dining area, a covered veranda, pool, etc.) provided space for gatherings to eat or drink or play games. There were, of course, views of the bay, the coastline and the mountains in the distance. You are close enough to the bay to hear the surf crashing on the shore and rocks. The setting and the house itself were remarkable, but Pablo and Rosa helped make this a memorable week. They were an amazing combination of concierge, hosts and service providers. They were able to fulfill our every need. And I must say that their culinary skills were surprising. Every meal was prepared and served to perfection. We ended up calling Pablo “Chef Pablo”. And a great chef he is. We felt extremely safe in La Punta, with its beautiful homes, Beach Club and fine hotels, but we also felt safe when we visited the interesting sites and other commercial establishments in and around Manzanillo. La Casa del Sol y Luna is a special place. We will be recommending it to our friends and our hope is to return there again, soon. We just returned from our second visit to La Casa del Sol y la Luna, and we absolutely loved it! We'd forgotten, over the years, just how breathtaking the view is from the open air living and dining rooms. The house is situated beautifully in the gated community of La Punta, with views overlooking the bay from nearly every room. Watching whales frolic in the bay while enjoying the breeze blowing through the thatched roof of the living area was magical, and we never tired of the spectacular sunsets. Nor did we tire of our daily 3:00 margarita and guacamole spread, beautifully prepared by Pablo and Rosa. We felt spoiled by the attentive service we received from this dynamic husband and wife team. We ended up eating nearly all of our meals at home, and appreciated all of Pablo's suggestions for menu ideas. My favorites were the pork tenderloin tostadas, spicy grilled shrimp and huevos rancheros. Our favorite part of our vacation was the complete relaxation. We laughed that our only decision (other than when to start the margaritas) was whether to spend our day relaxing by the pool or at the beach. And we couldn't go wrong either way: the beach, a short 5 minute downhill walk or quick drop off from Pablo, was furnished with lounge chairs under thatched palapas, and also had a swimming pool, clean restrooms and an open air pavilion. But lounging by the pool at the Casa was our favorite. Beautiful views, great service and complete privacy make La Casa del Sol y de la Luna a wonderful, relaxing get-away. Thank you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Just returned from our wonderful vacation to Casa de la Sol y la Luna. We cannot say enough about our week there. The weather was perfect - 85ish all week with no rain. The villa is fabulous; with certainly the BEST views in La Punta. Comfortable lodging for 6 adults - we especially loved the open air common spaces and pool. Superb hospitality from Pablo and Rosa. We had them prepare almost all our meals- authentic & delicious. We enjoyed shopping in Santiago with Pablo for the fresh fish and fruits. He even spoiled us with packing an entire "carnitas" picnic lunch and bringing it to us at the beach!! We loved the privacy in La Punta and felt very safe walking throughout the development. Easy taxi ride from the airport and loved the Margaritas and Nachos waiting for us poolside!!! We hope to return again!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We recently returned from 7 beautiful days and nights at “Casa del Sol y La Luna”. What a wonderful Mexican experience. Beginning with our unintimidating customs processing at the Manzanillo airport and a simple process of arranging taxi transportation, we were never harassed or intimidated by the hordes of sales representatives that have normally greeted us at other Mexican airports. We always felt safe and secure traveling the 30 minutes or so to “La Punta” where the relaxation began. What a wonderful home the Strongs have created. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor living that provides breathtaking views of the coastline where ever you are on the property. We ventured into La Hadas, Miramar, and Manzanillo to see the local village and, though we never saw another “Gringo” during our visits’ we loved the experience of wandering streets taking in the culture and easily communicated with the locals about what we were looking for. What a treat it is to return to the “Casa” for Pablo’s Margaritas and Guacamole and a swim in the pool. Rosa and Pablo were absolutely wonderful making the best Mexican cuisine we’ve had, and who can resist Pablo’s “Por Que No” outlook. We all hear alot about travel dangers outside of the U.S., from our experiences at the airport, out wandering the beach on Santiago Bay, to wondering around Deportiva and Manzanillo Municipality, we never experienced anything but friendly people and never felt in danger or threatened. This was our first trip to this part of Mexico and would love to return soon. Jeanne thank you for making this wonderful casa available to us. Darin and Debbie.Did you find this review helpful? We have traveled through Mexico quite a bit, but had never visited Manzanillo. Suffice it to say, we will definitely return, and in most likelihood to the beautiful setting of Casa del Sol & La Luna. Situated in the beautiful housing community of La Punta, our lodgings were ideal. Beautiful sunsets, glorious mornings, short walks to the tennis courts and the private beach, plus well maintained roads careening about the area for runs or long walks. Should we have wished to travel the roads differently, we found that we could have rented one of La Punta golf carts for the week or employed Pablo to chauffuer us on our excursions out of La Punta. Our cook, Rosa, was an officionado of all culinary delicacies associated with Mexico. Verde chicken enchiladas, fish tacos, classical stews, there wasn't a dish from Mexico she couldn't master. It was delicious, and I have never seen children aged 11-23 eat everything on their plate before in my life! Her dinners were only rivaled by her breakfast. Should she ever wish to visit the states, I am all too pleased to open my home to her in exchange for cooking lessons! With all that La Punta has to offer in relaxation, beauty and its natural surroundings, we were pleasantly surprised to find that Manzanillo and Santiago offered other excusions available to the more adventurous. After a week of horseback riding on the beach, fishing in the ocean, ziplining through the canopied trees, and ATV'ing on the beach, we exhausted each and every one of our kids, not to mention ourselves. The week away was most relaxing and we thank the Strongs so much for opening up their home for rent and for their generous spirit in giving their home to local charity auctions. Thanks again and for sure you will have us back to enjoy beautiful Manzanillo.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I had never been to Mexico largely because we were a little nervous about the violence we read about in the media. In fact, we nearly talked ourselves out of this trip on a couple of occasions because we don't speak much Spanish and we were worried about getting into a bad situation. Now we are soooo glad we didn't cancel. Pablo and Rosa not only cook your meals and do your laundry (much to my surprise), but they take care of everything... and I mean everything. Pablo even drove us on a day trip to Barra for cost of gas. This was luxury living for an extremely reasonable price... Now we are spoiled and I doubt we could ever spend another vacation at an ordinary resort... Thanks to our travel companions and to the owners of this beautiful villa for letting share such a wonderful experienceRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The setting is magical, the weather is heavenly, but the best part of this vacation was the incredible pampering delivered by Pablo and Rosa. They spoiled us with great meals, cold margarita's, and extremely clean accommodations. It was the most relaxing vacation we have experienced and we are planning to come back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We also encountered this fear of travel to Mexico, whenever we let people know we were traveling to Mexico, some would look at us as if we had just told them we were planning on jumping out of a plane without a parachute. I think our news media, has overstated the problems and not been specific enough about the location where real problems exist. During our travels to Mexico, we have always felt safe and have always enjoyed visiting the nearby pueblos; shopping and dining in the local markets and interacting with very friendly and helpful merchants. Mexico is rich in culture and we have been fortunate to be able to experience some of the local fiestas and traditions. It is magical.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Needless to say our family vacation in your beautiful home was fantastic! The best vacation ever! Pablo and Rosa are gems; very attentive with excellent culinary talents. We enjoyed the outdoor rooms, a perfect complement to the weather. The setting is peaceful and the vistas of the bay are amazing. Each night the sunsets were spectacular. We enjoyed being able to walk down to the beach for a swim and over to the tennis courts. Your home is pure magic and we feel very lucky to have experienced it. We plan on returning and have already spread the word to our family and friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
