Special offer: Summer Fun Details
This is the ideal cabin for the mountain enthusiast: Enjoy a warm fire in a large stone fireplace after a hike, or a day of fun at the lake. You are provided with free firewood for use during your stay. Your children can watch birds and chipmunks on the gentle slope behind the cabin, while you prepare a meal in a fully equipped kitchen.
Green Valley Lake, at 7,200 feet in the San Bernardino forest, is a quaint small town away from the traffic and commotion of other mountain communities. We have a country store, a malt shop/cafe with views of the lake, a swimming area with rafts, and plenty of fish to catch and boats to rent -- all you need for a fun getaway. For the more adventurous, Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear are a short drive away.
The cabin’s wide sliding window offers an unobstructed forest view. The ample leather couch with a chaise and recliner is perfect for relaxing as you watch expanded cable, HBO or Cinemax on a widescreen TV. Children can watch their own TV upstairs. For those who can't be deprived, the cabin features high-speed WiFi. A special storage area keeps your mountain gear out of the way, and out of sight. The full-size washing machine and dryer makes an extended stay practical, and long term rentals are encouraged.
Check out time is noon. There is no charge for light cleaning; heavy cleaning is extra. PayPal and VRBO payments are preferred. Credit cards accepted. Reserve now for a delightful summer holiday. Let my cabin be your home away from home.

As advertised this is a GREAT winter hideway cabin. It sits on top of a hill at the end of a small cul-d-sac (great neighbors) so it is fairly secluded. The town of GVL itself is secluded and is a perfect place to relax and enjoy some quiet time while still being relatively close to the action (Snow Valley Ski Resort is 10 minutes away, Big Bear Lake and Arrowhead Village are 20-25 minutes away). The cabin is perfect for a small family as there is one queen bed in a bedroom and one futon bed in the office/spare bedroom. The kitchen has everything you need to cook meals in while watching a movie, or you can walk downtown to the Malt Shoppe or Lake Inn. For snow play you can take advantage of the hill behind the cabin which was perfect for me and my 3yr old. Or if you want a little more adventure, you can go to the old ski hill in town. The best part about this cabin is the huge window looking out back to the forest and the ability to sit out there and either watch your family play in the snow, or just sit quietly and listen the the wind in the trees (no traffic noise at all). Can't wait to come back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This cabin was perfect. The cabin itself--which is really more like a house--has private bedrooms upstairs and a big open space with a gorgeous view downstairs. It is beyond comfortable, and is clean and well-kept without feeling fussy. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, as is the couch. It is situated on a cul de sac, with wonderful neighbors, and is great for kids becaues they can sled or frolic without fear of cars. It is an easy walk down to the lake and the little town in one direction, and to beautiful hiking trails in another. Can't rave enough about how wonderful it is, but here is one indication: our family actually has use of a free cabin in Green Valley Lake, but we might sometimes rather pay to stay at this one, and we're incredible cheapskates, so that's sayin' something.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Year Purchased: 1969
About the owner: I ran a small medical billing business for nearly 20 years and recently retired. Like many hopeful Californians, I'm working on a screenplay, and will start my second draft any day now.
Why the Owner Chose Green Valley Lake:
I first saw Green Valley Lake when I was in the cub scouts, and never forgot its quiet beauty. The cabin was built by my father. He constructed the massive fireplace himself stone by stone, and took delight in designing the cabin's many features. I had the opportunity of adding a brick patio and an additional bathroom in 2007. This has been a work in progress for the Healy's for many years.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
I particularly enjoy watching the many species of birds feed on the patio. The great room gets a warm sun in the afternoon and one can watch the sun set through majestic trees. There is no more peaceful spot in all of Southern California.
