Outstanding place. Clean and well maintained. Just the place for a quiet relaxing vacation. The scenery is fantastic, and the national forest is almost at the door.

Rim and Betsy do everything on their end to make it an enjoyable stay. The cabin is set up nicely--master bedroom on the main level with the other two bedrooms on the basement level. The cabin is well decorated and has a private feel to it with the aspen trees all around. I do believe that the owners thought of everything as we wanted for nothing. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Thanks for a break from the rat race!! It was just perfect!! The added bonus was the fishing pond--that was nice for our college-aged son and my husband. Good family time for them while the girls enjoyed a movie and margaritas. Nice collection of movies and books that we enjoyed besides visiting RMNP, white water rafting, and mountain biking from Vail Pass to Breckenridge. Just a nice, nice stay. Would highly recommend to anyone! Also, the other members of the group vetoed our little dog's stay with us at this cabin (with my vote being her only one!) so she stayed behind. Betsy returned the pet fee to us--which was very kind indeed. Absolutely only glowing thoughts about this vacation rental. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I were looking for a vacation rental that was reasonably priced but boasted of a gorgeous scene, privacy, and lots of wildlife and nature. We got all of that and more at this house. We even were able to bring our dogs with us, which was a huge burden lifted. With the homeowner's hospitality and the conveniences of their home, it was easy to go on vacation and really relax! I'd recommend this rental to everyone! One bit of advice to other dog owners: be aware of the safety of your pet. There are wild animals around and I would not recommend walking your pet after sundown!

Nicely nestled in and very peaceful and relaxing. My fiance and I enjoyed all the wildlife and the fishing at the pond was very convenient. Home away from Home
Home away from Home
This was our second trip to the Bishop cabin and I always feel like coming home. It is a very beautiful, very clean cabin. I LOVE cooking in the beautiful kitchen, relaxing, watching TV, reading books, watching the birds (there is always plenty of birdseed to spoil the little critters, including peanuts for the squirrels and jays). Hiking galore, snowshoeing, too, just all around one of my favorite places in the United States. And it's a short drive to Breckenridge, should you crave more action. Thank you as always for welcoming us to your home and working with my hectic work schedule to accomodate schedule changes!

Very accurate listing description. Is nicer than the photos depict (and the photos make it look very nice!) Very clean and well maintained. Have stayed at VRBO properties many times and this is among the best. Quite impressed with the kitchen. It had everything one would need in the way of pots, pans, and utensils. The owners were very helpful setting up and confirming the reservation. Very fair reservation and refund policy (we fortunately did not have to use the latter.) If you're not already familiar with the area it's important to know it's an excellent location for a Colorado vacation for any season. It is immediately east of the Mosquito Mountain Range and literally walking distance from the Pike National Forest where there's great hiking, backpacking, camping, and hunting. Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapaho Basin ski areas are within an hour drive. Same applies to gold medal fishing waters on the South Platte. We, family of four, stayed for a ski week and had a great time. Would definitely recommend!

I just want to let you know that everything was great. We really enjoyed our stay at your home, and we really appreciated all the Christmas decorations. It's a wonderful place you have, and we found everything we needed while there. You've done a really great job of keeping the kitchen stocked with all the pots and pans and other gadgets that anyone might need. Thank you again for opening your home to us, and I hope you had a great Holiday.

So glad we selected your vacation rental home for our stay in June! We would definitely recommend your rental property. Your home was just as advertised: clean, well appointed and stocked. It was comfortable and peaceful. We enjoyed seeing the wildlife nearby. We are grateful that we were allowed to bring our daughters dog with us so that he too could enjoy the fresh mountain air. The starry nights were absolutely breathtaking!! Paul was pleased to be able to come home and tell friends of catching rainbows and browns in the Platte! Thanks for all the info you sent us on fishing "hot spots" in the area! Your helpfulness was above and beyond!! Many thanks again Betsy and Rim!

About the owner: My husband Rim and I grew up in South FL, but have always loved to travel. We have found nothing in the US to compare with the Rocky Mountains for scenery, climate and wildlife. Now we are living in Palm Beach Gardens, FL with our Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Megan. Rim and I have built a retreat for ourselves in the mountains, but can only visit several weeks a year. We love to share the peace and beauty we have found there with others.
Why the Owner Chose Fairplay:
We stumbled on this area while driving to Breckenridge for our 20th wedding anniversary. South Park is a high elevation bowl surrounded by mountain ranges. There are many scenic drives and mountain passes for the adventurous to explore. We were attracted to the beauty of the area and abundant wildlife. My husband and I prefer the small town atmosphere of Fairplay to the more heavily populated and trendy ski areas.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Rim loves to pour a cup of coffee and walk down the road to watch the sun rise over Pike's Peak. I love to sit on the covered part of the deck to watch for deer, elk, birds and our squirrel, Paulie Walnuts. The Pike National Forest is on the back border of the lot and there is open meadow across the road, where elk and deer are often seen at dusk and dawn. Cabins on either side of our lot are barely visible even in winter due to the thick grove of mature aspen trees, which turn golden in the fall. The house has all the modern conveniences, yet is cozy and secluded. Mountain water is the best.
