Big Cabin on 4 Acres by the Creek: 1 Mile to Yellowstone
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
One of the Yellowstone area’s newest cabins, Silver Willows just opened in the fall of 2010. It features many of the comforts of home with a mix of rustic charm, and is a great home base for visitors to Yellowstone and the Beartooth Wilderness.
The cabin is found in the small town of Silver Gate, Montana, 1 mile outside of Yellowstone National Park’s northeast entrance and 3 miles down the road from Cooke City. The Silver Gate/Cooke City area is popular with wolf watchers (the Lamar Valley is a short drive away!) and park visitors looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the larger border towns, as well as winter sports enthusiasts who come to take advantage of the recreation opportunities in the Beartooth Mountains.
Silver Willows is located on 4 acres of woodland bordered by Soda Butte Creek, which runs through the property on its way into Yellowstone National Park. The cabin sleeps 4-6 on two queen sized beds (1 in the master, 1 in the loft) plus a queen sleeper sofa. We have two additional folding twin beds for parties of up to 8 people.
**Jan. 2013: We've added a master bathroom with shower to the upstairs, making the cabin even more convenient for larger groups.**
Whether you want to enjoy the wonders of Yellowstone, a quiet picnic at the creek or a snowmobile ride in winter, Silver Willows is the perfect getaway.

Our family has stayed at many rental properties over the years...some have met our expectations; some have not. Silver Willows not only met our expectations; it exceeded them! The cabin was much roomier than we expected, especially for 1 bedroom/1bath. We were there for a week and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The first thing we saw upon arrival was a huge bison...he hung around most of the week we were there. We also saw several deer, squirrels, and a fox on the property. In the park, we were fortunate enough to see a grizzly, bald eagles, elk, bison, mountain goats, pronghorns and wolves. It's a trip we'll never forget!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

Fantastic experience in Silver Gate at Silver Willows, very well thought out property with views of the Soda Butte Creek. Bison and Blacktail Deer in the yard, lovely homely fire to come home to on cold autumn evenings. Everyone was really friendly in the local store - but do remember to take any fresh groceries (vegetables, meat etc) as nothing available locally.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

Silver Willows Cabin is situated in scenery that I can only adequately describe as breathtaking. If you're looking for a place to stay that is close to Yellowstone this is it! If you're looking for a place to stay that is close to Yellowstone AND affordable, you guessed it, Silver Willows is the place! You'll be in a new cabin (which has all the modern amenities you could possibly need!!), surrounded by forest and mountain ranges, spotting animals that you may have never seen before, or again for that matter. The Northeast corner of Yellowstone is perhaps the most wild and remote of the park, and being in this cabin you do really feel immersed in that atmosphere. My wife and I spent 4 days there that we will never forget. Thanks to the owner Max for providing us with all the pointers we needed in making our stay that much more enjoyable!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

This was the perfect place for our time in Yellowstone! The very first evening we were there a huge Bison sauntered into the clearing by Soda Butte Creekwhile we were eating supper. Our children loved checking out what wildlife had visited the cabin by identifying tracks along the creek. It was so great to be able to come back to the cabin each night and relax, cook dinner and watch for animals from the front porch. Max was wonderful, we were pleasantly surprised when he called our first evening at the cabin to make sure everything was in place for us and to give us tips on where to find wildlife. We loved our stay so much that we've already booked a second trip!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

My wife and I stayed here in August and were very happy with the place. It was immaculately clean and had all kinds of extras. The wood work is amazing and my wife and I both commented we would design a cabin just like this if we could have one. It had WIFI and a phone which was useful if you must remain in contact because there was no coverage for our phones. You are at the park entrance. This entrance is really quiet compared to others we have experienced. This town is really cool, but we did spend very little time in it since we were out from 8 to 8 most every day. Cooke City is just 4 miles up the road for anything you cannot find here and I recommend going to the gas station on the south-east side for more fair prices than in Silvergate. The cabin has a great kitchen which we used every night. The view out of the kitchen window is awesome with your coffee every morning. We saw fox and deer in the back by the creek from the window. Max wrote a really cool guide to hiking, fishing and site seeing in YSNP - you should read it on the first day with a cold one (beer I mean). I hiked the Pebble Creek Trail and recommend it. If you only do part of it I preferred the scenery (open) of the north end versus the south where I started (more woodsy). We also hiked Trout Lake(very short, fishing not good that day, but big fish can be seen), Thunderer, and near Slough creek - all spectacular. we had good fishing at the Warm Creek picnic area, which was quiet and also the end of the Pebble creek trail. There was a fresh carcass on our hike on Thunderer and heard wolves. Upon returning the Rangers shuffled us off and closed the trail due to the probability of Grizzlies showing up. We saw the wolves. Check out the field scope at the store across the way - the kid there let us view mountain goats way up in the peaks. Cheers, ShawnRecommended for: Romantic getaway, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

My family truly enjoyed staying at this property. It was clean, well equipped and comfortable. It was very peaceful and my boys loved playing in the creek behind the house. It provides easy acess to Yellowstone's Lemar Valley where wildlife abounds. Plenty of hiking in the area. Trout Lake recommended by the owner of this property was very enjoyable and we did see otters. Driving in the opposite direction we also enjoyed exploring the Bear Tooth Hwy. We also drove to Cody via the Chief Joseph which again offered spectacular views and enjoyed the museum and rodeo.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This was perfect for our Family of 5. Very quiet and peaceful and only 1 mile for the NE entrance of Yellowstone. Cabin was clean and comfortable and Owners called the day we arrived to make sure everything was OK. Saw Bison and Deer from front porch of cabin. Kids found several animal tracks in the bank of Soda Butte Creek. While the bathroom/laundry area is well kept and clean, it is the only bathroom so we did run into a couple of snags with bathroom use, however, with some planning we were able to avoid most bathroom delays. Overall, one of the best vacations our family has had. I would definitely recommend this cabin to others.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

This was our second stay at the Silver Willows Cabin ... a perfect "home base" for exploring the wonders of Yellowstone National Park. The cabin is large and clean and comfortable - perfect for our family of 6 people. The cabin is literally just minutes from the Northeast entrance to the Park. Daily we spent time in the park or exploring the hiking trails around the cabin. From the front porch we watched bison, moose, and fox. We'll be back ...Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.
