LATCHWOOD COTTAGE is located in the Barge-Chestnut Historic District. We are a few blocks from beautiful Franklin Park where there is a museum, public swimming pool, tennis courts and an ice cream parlor decorated in period decor,(where you can still get a milk shake in a metal tumbler). Downtown Yakima is a few minutes away, where you can browse several antique shops, try out some very fine dining and sample wine from local vintners. Wine tours are a must when you visit Yakima. We are within 15 - 30 minutes from dozens of local wineries, golf courses and other venues. Information and maps are available at the cottage. Latchwood is also very convenient to the convention center and sports arena's.
Latchwood Cottage is furnished in new and antique furniture, in keeping with the architecture of the home. The living room has heavy wood beam ceilings, bay window, wood burning fireplace and in the evening is an especially warm and inviting room. The kitchen is well stocked including spices, coffee and tea. Custom metal latch style doors throughout the house add to the unique charm of this English cottage style home. There is a seperate family room with a gas fireplace, and two French doors that exit onto patio's on both sides of the back yard. We have ROKU TV offering Netflix and Huluplus. The backyard three different seating areas, perfect for relaxation. There are three bedrooms upstairs each with queen beds. There is one full bath upstairs and a half bath on the main level.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
We love the privacy, the cozy warm feel of the wood and antiques. The home has an and English/Welsh cottage feel to it. That's what attracted me to the house when I purchased it. We are pleased to be able to share this special home with others who appreciate antiques and these unique historic properites, as we do. We stayed at Latchwood Cottage for about 10 days while visiting Yakima. The home was well-kept and better than advertised. The location was perfect for local cultural venues and the wine-tasting tour that was recommended to us by the property manager was an excellent experience. We would highly recommend staying here and plan to repeat our visit in the future.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We highly recommend Latchwood Cottage for peace, relaxation, comfort, and closeness to downtown Yakima and to wineries. The owners are very thoughtful and caring. When we arrived, we were greeted by a warm and welcoming home, lights on, music softly playing, and a bouquet of fresh flowers with a welcome note from the owners. The owners left us a letter with pointers together with their contact numbers should we have had questions. We felt very well cared for. It clearly felt that they had readied the house for our stay. The home was meticulously clean and all in fine order. My Husband and I spent the next morning having our coffee at one of the tables in the back garden. It is a precious environment. Lovely plants, flowering shrubs and flowers, birds singing, an herb garden, trellis, even Washington Quail live in the back garden. The neighbors are quiet and the neighborhood conducive to relaxation. The home has the feel of relaxed living from many decades ago, yet with all modern conveniences, including easy to use WiFi. The wooden doors, paneling and floors give the home a warmth and natural beauty. Bed linens and towels are high quality, so too the comfort of the bed. Very well equipped kitchen. Everything was perfect. Thank you for a beautiful stay in this precious home.
