  We stayed at Casa Kate for the month of February, and were very happy with the house. Its very well laid out, with 2 guestrooms and bath on the entry level, an open plan living room, dining space and kitchen on the second level, and a master suite on the third with a terrific deck. Great views from both the 2nd and 3rd floors. The 2nd floor is like a big screened in porch, so its really airy and light filled. All the bedrooms have air conditioners for great sleeping. La Punta is a bit south of Puerto Escondido. Its a very cool surfer beach with some great places to eat (wonderful Thai, The Taco Shop for the best fish tacos ever) Also some good palapa beach places with simple, but very fresh food. The house is about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the beach. Being out of the center of Puerto Escondido was perfect for us, but we could easily drive into the center for a big selection of restaurants. And Kate was nice enough to let us bring our pups who loved it!

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

• Amazing house!

  My family loved Casa Kate! We spent hours each day just soaking in the gorgeous views and lounging on the screened -- but otherwise open-air -- middle floor, with the fully equipped kitchen, dining table, living room and hammock. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a full Christmas dinner (except paper towels) and the master bedroom has breathtaking ocean views. Air conditioning in the bedrooms was also a much-appreciated luxury. Our only complaint is that bugs ran rampant around the house, with ants immediately attacking everything we brought into the kitchen. But I'm sure that's likely to be an issue anywhere in Puerto. Also, this house may not be the best choice for those who can't walk up steep hills and steps. Overall, though, we absolutely loved this place and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or to return!

  This was a great place! Six short blocks to the lovely beach, nice palapas and restaurants nearby. The beach is a bit rough, great for body surfing, not as good for swimming but much quieter people wise than other beaches. People are all very friendly and it is a safe neighborhood. The house is amazing, well appointed, with Canadian cable TV, an open air but screened kitchen and living room that are comfortable and cool. The master bedroom is on the third floor with sliding glass door to a small patio with stunning views. Like sleeping outdoors but with a comfortable mattress. The rooftop patio was where we wanted to be every morning for coffee and evening to see the sunset. The pictures do no do this justice. This house if very well-built and lovely on every level. Now just add a bit of Mexican art and it will be paradise. Alain and Kate are both helpful and pleasant. We will be back!

  This lovely new home is well equipped and maintained. Kate answered my many questions before we went and Alain, the onsite manager, was very helpful and responsive. It was a wonderful spot for a beach vacation get together for our family of adults all coming from different parts of the states. The guys were even able to watch the football games they wanted at the house. The beach and area near the house are lovely - quiet and not crowded but with enough restaurants and shops to meet our needs.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
