West Point Grey apartment description
Varsity condo is a one bedroom, fully furnished and fully equipped view suite on the top floor of a new, 4 storey concrete building in the heart of the point grey village, on vancouver's very popular and very beautiful west side. It is a very quiet suite, with spectacular views of the north shore mountains, the harbour and vancouver's downtown. It is located very close to the university of british columbia/ubc, with its many amenities.
Ubc can be reached very quickly by bus (one stop of the express 99 bee-line) or walking in about 25 minutes; or by cycle in 5 or 6 minutes. Downtown is only 10 minutes by car and the airport 20 to 25 minutes.
The point grey village is a very popular boutique shopping and fine dining community. Also very nearby is pacific spirit park (vancouver's best kept secret - 893 hectres of jogging and walking trails amongst giant douglas fir trees. From varsity condo you can also walk downhill to locarno, spanish banks and jericho beaches, the best beaches in the city. 2 blocks away is trimble street park with playgrounds, tennis courts and a large open playing field, as well as the trimble street gardens, where you can enjoy a wonderful picnic while the children play.
The suite has a living room, gourmet kitchen with 5 appliances including a bertazoni range with oven, panasonic microwave, bloomberg fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and all the usual (plus some) small appliances; a dining area, storage room, bedroom, bathroom and balcony for al fresco dining or lounging. There is a cozy fireplace in the living room and a window seat across the full width of the picture window which provides the spectacular views of vancouver's city, harbour and north shore mountains. Tv/ cablevision (multi-channel and wi-fi / high speed internet access). In-suite lauundry and secure bike and car parking are available. Dishes, all cooking equipment, are provided, along with linens, towels and much more.

About the owner: The owner, Mariette, grew up in BC, mainly in Vancouver, and has lived in Point Grey for more than 40 years, formerly operating the very popular Casa Mora Bed and Breakfast, with her husband, Neville. When Casa Mora closed operations in 2007 she purchased this vacation rental unit. They still live very nearby, at UBC, and guests will attest to their promptness in dealing with any problems or concerns as they arise. Neville grew up in Australia and is an accomplished artist, designer, journalist and gardener; and is well known in the Point Grey Community for having started the street gardens along 10th Avenue, and the Rhododendron Garden at the Trimble Street Park. This couple has travelled extensively in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and beyond. They enjoy people and have many interests. Both studied at UBC. Mariette has a basic fluency in Spanish and understands and speaks a little French as well as English.

Home and Location, location, location! This neighbourhood is our home, our community and we are very proud of it. The apartment itself is on the top floor of a 4 storey, concrete building, facing north which means it is very quiet and also has the very wonderful views of city, mountain and Vancouver's inner and outer harbours. One is always surrounded by beauty in Point Grey -- beautiful streets, beautiful gardens, beautiful views. It is a quiet, safe, friendly neighbourhood and one can walk everywhere. A car can be a plus but is really not a necessity. Everything Vancouver has to offer is easily and quickly reached by express bus, with a stop for the bus located in the next block. We have gone to great lengths to equip this apartment with everything one needs for a comfortable short or longer stay and we work hard to maintain it in excellent condition. We ask for specific feedback from our guests and use most of that feedback. A cozy fireplace and a wonderful balcony with spectacular views, make for a very pleasant ambience.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
In addition to being very near UBC, and in the heart of the popular Point Grey Village, with fast access to downtown and everything Vancouver has to offer, this is apartment faces north and has some of the best views in the city and is very quiet, almost silent most of the time, in spite of being located in the heart of the shopping district on a traffic busy street. The south side of the building does not enjoy the same silence, but the structure of the building and its setback from the other buildings on the north side, make for a very quiet and peaceful environment. The other suites are inhabited, most often, by people affiliated with the university or business people working in the area, or downtown. One can walk out the front door of the building and be in centre of the village, shopping for anything you might need, or just sharing a coffee, drink or dinner in one of the local cafés or restaurants. The most common feedback we receive, is about the comfort, the cleanliness and the overall convenience provided by our suite, along with the fact that it is very well equipped. Even the spices, and the corkscrew have not been forgotten!
