Edisto Beach house description
Within a hundred yards of the ocean and ear shot of the pounding surf, our home offers convenient access to all aspects of island life: romps on the beach, sluggish tidal lagoons, dripping Spanish moss, rattling palmettos, quick walks or bike rides to art galleries or breakfast nooks, and always, everywhere, fresh ocean breezes. Our home is located within an easy walk or bike ride to ice cream parlors, video rentals, pizza shops, souvenir stores, and casual yet mouth-watering restaurants. The cul-de-sac street is both quiet and safe for kids to play or ride bikes.
With room to sleep 12 in four bedrooms plus two pull-out sofas, three bathrooms, a spacious kitchen and great room, wireless internet access, screened front and back porches, and an elevator, Waves of Grace is perfect for bustling families or quieter, smaller groups. Relax on the private front decks off the front bedrooms or gaze over a lagoon at the busy marsh life from the back rooms. The subtle ocean themed decor keeps the fresh, clean feel of the sea indoors and out. Displaying artwork from family members, the rooms have an authentic Edisto feel. Classic beach house floor plan with a spacious living, dining, and kitchen area with a built-in area for the TV, stereo, books and games storage. Big back yard with lots of trees and a lagoon. Concrete drive and parking under the house, with a convenient fish cleaning sink and hot and cold outdoors shower. This house is perfect for multiple friends and families. Since we hope our guests will make Waves of Grace part of annual family traditions, we welcome all family members, included the four-legged ones.
We invite you to make Waves of Grace your island home for your next vacation. Visit our home's website to learn more about Edisto Island and our favorite activities, shops, and restaurants.

About the owner: Our family’s story of Edisto begins as many great stories commence---with only a slight foreshadowing of the impact the island would have on our family. Our parents first came to Edisto on the promise of a free golf weekend. Never intending to accept the resort’s timeshare sales pitch, they nevertheless left that weekend of tees, greens, and (no) hole-in-ones with a commitment to return. Something about the island had captivated their imagination; they saw their grandchildren’s bare feet churning through the sand, chubby hands reaching to pluck the “perfect” shell, and eager mouths gathering around the table for piles of freshly steamed shrimp. Fortunately for the grandchildren, the vision came true. Our family’s story of Edisto has continued now for four generations. Our children have spent close to twenty summers in the shade of Spanish moss and in the sun glinting off marshes, and our first grandchild has encountered her first set of waves on these beaches. We have fallen in love with the laid-back rhythm of this island and are grateful for the lack of traffic lights, fast food joints, and other accouterments of commercialism so prevalent in our lives elsewhere. Despite the many years we have returned “home” to Edisto, we continue to find new restaurants, charming shops, and meandering roads to delight our senses. We are happy to share our home, Waves of Grace, with you. We hope the time you spend here will write the first chapters in your story of Edisto.
Why the Owner Chose Edisto Beach:
We love Edisto Island. No apologies, qualifications, or equivocations. On this island, we have found peace, serenity, beauty, and a slower pace of life. Unlike most other commercialized islands, Edisto still bears the marks of its storied history. On the island, one can easily access oyster mounds built from discarded oyster shells from the Edistow Indians. One can travel Spanish moss draped roads that lead back to original plantation homes. And one can catch snatches of Gullah, the unique patois language of the African American slaves. With a past that intermingles with its present and future, Edisto Island offers much more than the typical beach vacation. This is the low country, and it is impossible to enjoy the present-day sun, beaches, and shells, without brushing up against a bit of history.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Edisto Island is less than an hour’s relaxing drive south of Charleston, SC. Edisto is filled with year-round activity, from the crowds of summer, to the Annual Island Plantation tour in fall, to the Holiday Parade in winter. Fishing, crabbing, and shrimping are popular activities year round. Yet despite the bustle, the island remains blissfully laid-back with no traffic lights or high-rise hotels to be seen. Enjoy two screened porches, two sundecks, and an elevator. This house is perfect for lots of friends and family.
