Come sleep in the Trees!
The moment you arrive at our property and see the enormous eighty foot cypress trees with decades old wild mustang grapevines hanging from their limbs, you realize you are in a special place. When you notice the footbridge attached to the trees will take you safely across the seasonal creek and to your private tree house, you know you have found an amazing place to stay. The Tree Houses are LOCATED on the OPPOSITE side of River Road from the Gaudalupe River. We do have a river access area for our guests across the road from us.
“Wait a minute, did you say a treehouse?” many people ask. Yes, but this is not your childhood plywood fort of days gone by. Our treehouses are newly constructed, engineered custom cabins with all the conveniences of modern living including air conditioning, wi-fi, cable, kitchens and bathroom. Picture your own custom cabin, with attached private deck and an open living, dining area and kitchen with a loft above and a master suite attached and a fully functioning bathroom with a claw foot tub.
The treehouses are actually attached to the large hardwood trees that run along the creek, which lend to the picturesque setting that will give you an overall exhilarating experience.
**Our cabins are custom built around the trees, the spiral staircases to the loft are a bit narrow, but it is apart of the charm of our treehouse cabins.
We are very fortunate to be located near a very beautiful part of the Guadalupe River, on River Road between New Braunfels and Canyon Lake. Though not right on the river, our cabins sit over the seasonal creek and have river access across River Road with a nice grassy area to hang out, wade in the water or tube. Since we are so centrally located, you will be able to easily access and enjoy many of the best places the Texas Hill Country has to offer including river access from our property, Canyon Lake (a boat ramp is only minutes away), Whitewater Amphitheater and River Road Icehouse, historic Gruene Hall, and New Braunfels, which is only 11 miles from the treehouses.
Many of our guests come here to tube and enjoy the Guadalupe River and take advantage of the ease in which they can access and enjoy the river by simply walking across River Rd. to the river access. By taking a shuttle up river and simply floating back down to the river access, you can tube with your group very easily! **KAYAKS and TUBES NOT included, but can be rented at nearby outfitters. After a long day of tubing and river fun many of our guests enjoy relaxing and barbequing along the banks of the river recounting the day’s excitement. Afterwards you can enjoy the nightlife and many live music venues nearby or simply hang out with your family and friends on your private treehouse deck.
After a day or two of tubing and river fun, many guests change pace and rent a deck or ski boat at Canyon Lake or go to New Braunfels to enjoy Schlitterbahn Waterpark. When your group is ready for shopping, Gruene Market Days or the San Marcos Outlet Malls are only short drives away.
While all of these activities described above are the main reasons many of our guests come to stay, others simply come for a quick escape from the city to recharge their batteries and enjoy the relaxing sounds of the croaking frogs or chirping crickets at night as they watch for shooting stars in the starlit sky. Whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation, you will find it here.
Come for a romantic weekend getaway (we can even arrange for babysitters!) or try your hand in the blue ribbon trout fishing on the Guadalupe. Our property is located next to the spot on the river where they often times stock the trout which makes it a great place to fish! You can wade the river yourself or hire a flyfishing guide to take you down the river in a raft or fishing boat.
Monthly stays are also available during the off season and many winter Texans take advantage of our low monthly prices which include all utilities.

There were 5 of us who stayed the weekend in the Birdseye for a retreat and some quite time. This could not have been a better location! everyone in the area quieted down about 9 each night and the crickets and birds were all one could here. We saw a spectacular lightening storm and cooked some great food for a gourmet dinner and wine on the deck. It was a place we would return to again next time we are in the San Antonio area. There was also a BBQ place just a few minutes away in town that was exceptional! Thank you for the great time and we look forward to a return trip.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This is the perfect place to spend with family to just relax and take in all of the beautiful nature trails and views. It was very enjoyable and peaceful. It would also be an amazing spot for a gathering of friends or family reunion. The map that was provided was very helpful, the Treehouse was very clean and Mike was extremely helpful. The river was awesome, and we can't wait to go back! MichelleDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

I rented this treehouse cabin for my father's 80th birthday celebration. Several members of our family joined us. The communication with the rental company (Mike was the person we went through) was the best I've ever had with any company I've ever done business with. Absolutely the best !! When we arrived, the cabin / area was exactly the way the pictures shown it to be and exactly the way the write up described it. The cabin area is so peaceful. The Birdseye Perch cabin is at the end so it's very private. We loved the nature sounds at night along the creek. It had recently rained so the creek was running pretty good when we were there. We had a fire in the fire pit on the main deck one night which was a great time. The local grocery store carried cut firewood that we purchased. Since we were there in May (2012), we didn't have high humidity or high temperatures. Not even bugs bothering us. A beautiful time of the year for the Hill Country of Texas. My daughter and I took a toobing float trip down the River and saw lots of water turtles and trees with their roots exposed in the water, all so unique and beautiful. Seeing the area from the river is a must while you are there. River Road (where these cabins are located) is a great road to explore in both directions, so pretty. I would love to visit the area again, and plan on staying at the Treehouse cabins again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I never rate anything 5 stars so I didn't...but I was very tempted in this case. I wanted a reasonable priced place to accommodate seven people near the Guadalupe River & Canyon Lake. I happened across this listing & thought it looked well maintained with a cool concept - so decided to give it a shot. Must say...I couldn't have been happier. Process to reserve was simple & the manager was nice & easy to work with. Place was clean, well maintained and comfortable. It also already was furnished with nearly everything we needed. Great location near the river and lake, with and stores you need close by. Our favorite part was the creek bed with a fire pit. We spent lots of time there & splitting time between the hammock. Hard place to beat in terms of quality for the price!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

My family and I had a wonderful weekend staying at your "treehouse". We spent a couple of evenings playing the games that are at the cabin - we haven't laughed that hard in a while. The deck was just the most amazing place to sit out and enjoy the beautiful weather and area. We will definitely plan on returning. Also a big thank you to Katie! She was wonderful about answering all of my many questions before we actually signed the rental agreement. Everything was just as shown in the pictures. The spiral staircase is pretty narrow - great for kids, a little touch for larger adults.Recommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: Dear LGC40, I am so glad to know your group had fun! We keep getting great feedback from our renters about these new and fun treehouse cabins with Guadalupe River access. I hope you and your friends and family will keep our properties in mind for future vacations! Thank you! ~Katie, Owner/Manager, River Road Treehouses

Huge thank you to Katie for setting us up. My family had a great time! The kids loved sleeping up in the loft and lounging in the hammock. Plenty of room...everything you need. Right across the street from the river and just down the road a few minutes from Canyon Lake. We also loved using the kayaks. Helped our boys earn another belt loop for cub scouts. :) I would highly recommend and hope to go back again soon!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Our parents were in town from Lousianna and we wanted to show them New Braunfels and the surrounding area and didn't want to stay at a typical hotel/motel you can stay at anywhere. We were so excited when we found your place. Being "treehouses" we were concerened at first bringing our small kids but as you said the place is very kid freindly and safe with all the handrails. We enjoyed staying up late at night on the deck watching the shooting stars and my dad had a great time taking the kids for wagon rides around the bridges. We'll tell all of our friends about you. Thanks for a great stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/3

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: I am the full time manager of the River Road Tree-houses and want to make your stay with us the best possible. Whether you need a recommendation to eat, information on tubing outfitters or something taken care of in your cabin I am on call to take care of your needs.
Why the Owner Chose Canyon Lake:
We originally purchased this property in 2009. We drove by and fell in love with the big trees and river access. After thinking for some time about what he could do with the property, the idea came to us to build treehouses above the floodplain. We bought the land and began researching treehouse building and were amazed at all the information we found (there is actually a treehouse builders organization as well as people who make and sell specific tree house hardware.) After much planning and engineering we began building our treehouses in the winter of 2010 and finished at the end of July, 2010. We love this property because of the way in which the tree-houses are set and nestled in the trees and the convenience to all the fun activities and venues the area has to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This is to our knowledge the only treehouse rental in the area. You will absolutely enjoy staying here among the tall cypress and pecan trees. The creek is seasonal, though it runs the majority of the time (as long as we get rain every 3-4 weeks and is very soothing to listen to. It is so pretty and our river access is fantastic. We invite our friends over often and try to stay as much as possible.
