4 Bedroom Beach Vacation Rental on Hood Canal/Port Ludlow
This beachfront home on the Hood Canal, one of the Northwest’s most spectacular inland waterways, is located just 9 miles from Historic Port Gamble. Port Gamble hosts 75-90 weddings a year in its romantic turn of the century church and brand new Pavilion on the bluff, overlooking the bay. Port Gamble is also home to the Medieval Festival, The Civil War Reenactment, The Ghost Conference and many more events throughout the year. This is the “IT” home for exploring the Pacific Northwest, the Olympic Peninsula and The Olympic National Forest. There are many attractions less than one hour away. The possibilities for recreation and exploration are endless. Whether hiking at Hurricane Ridge in Port Angeles (1 hr), kayaking to the lighthouse on the world famous Dungeness Spit or attending the annual Lavender Festival in Sequim (35 min) or partaking in one of Port Townsend's many year-round events, such as The Wooden Boat Festival (25 min) you will find this home-base perfect for all your needs. Port Ludlow is home to a premier golf community and offers 3 public courses, which are 10 minutes from this house. There are many other extraordinary courses within close proximity to this home, as well as 3 of the Northwest’s finest Casinos. The Olympic Music Festival, just 20 minutes away, features world-renowned musicians playing Chamber music every Saturday and Sunday in the summer months. Poulsbo (30 min) offers shopping and dining in its quaint, Norwegian themed downtown. Poulsbo also is home to the Central Market where you can buy the freshest local fish and produce to stock the fridge.
This home is perfect for multiple scenarios! From a couple’s romantic great escape to an ultimate R&R for a group of twelve. Whether it be multiple families, book clubs, relatives for the holidays, friends just getting away together, a bridal party or wedding guests, this home is for you. This upscale custom-built house has natural wood and fine stone finishes throughout. All the rooms are well lit by natural light and open up to varying views. There are multiple decks and patios to relax on. Located at the end of a dead-end street, the house has only a gravel drive between you and a beautiful no-bank sandy beach on Hood Canal.
A variety of sleeping arrangements will accommodate a multitude of situations. For those who prefer not to use the stairs, the main floor has a spacious bedroom with both a queen and a twin size bed. Across the hall from this bedroom is a large bathroom with a shower. There are three bedrooms upstairs. The master bedroom suite commands an awesome view of Hood Canal and the Cascade Mountain range. It has a gas fireplace and a cozy queen size bed. Adjoining the bedroom is a roomy full bath with jetted tub and double vanity sinks. The second bedroom upstairs also faces the water and mountain views and has a comfortable queen size bed, while the third bedroom has two sets of bunk beds, which sleep a total of four. Centrally located in the hall is the third full bath. In addition to the regular bedrooms is a TV nook, which opens to a deck. The nook area has a studio couch bed, the same size as a twin.
The gourmet kitchen is fully stocked and convenient to the covered lanai with magnificent Hood Canal views. The back patio has large propane BBQ for your use. There is a large dining room table as well as seating at the island/breakfast bar. The great room is very inviting with its gas fireplace and coveted panoramic views of the water, mountains and vast picturesque nature habitat. It captures the soul of the Northwest. Indeed, a mini vacation in this place makes for great memories to keep!
This home is perfectly situated to enjoy the best of both worlds. It is approximately one hour from the metropolitan city of Seattle and even closer to the majestic Olympic National Forest and all that nature has to offer. You can also take the ferry from Port Angeles (1 hr) to Victoria B.C. (passport required) and spend a day or the night in a beautiful city which offers whale watching, IMAX theatre, wax museum or high tea at the Empress Hotel. If your intent is to “get away from it all,' then just spend your time here relaxing on the sandy beach out front on Hood Canal and watch the bald eagles soar and the blue heron dive for dinner, or simply retreat to the back patio and enjoy the saltwater estuary and the wildlife it houses.
Start your day with the sun glittering off the water and rejuvenating your soul, and end it with a good nights’ sleep surrounded by the creature comforts this home has to offer.

Wonderful home base for our trip. The house is very accommodating for trips to the Olympic Mountains. We also took day trips into Seattle and Victoria. I would recommend it for a family base. Large, friendly kitchen and enough room for 9 of us very comfortably.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

How fabulous for you to share this gorgeous house with 13 of us from Camano Island. We had a great experience with not only a great golf course @ Port Ludlow...but the "view" of high tide, low tide; several dolphins; beach walks; Bar-b-Q's; plus a lovely modern home with more beds than we all needed!! Our husbands were very jealous that they could not join us all on our girls get-away! Thanks to all for making our stay so much fun.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: I live in Seattle and have been coming to my vacation home with family and friends since I had it custom built in 2002.
Why the Owner Chose Port Ludlow:
I chose Hood Canal and this particular property because of it's proximity to Seattle and the Gateway to the Olympics. It has been very easy to come over each week and enjoy the beauty and solitude of the house. I also enjoy the access to the recreational activities and hiking the Olympics have to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I have found the gardening to be excellent here. The Southern exposure is perfect for growing beautiful, colorful flowers and herbs. I am sure you will enjoy my gardens. It is the perfect location for relaxing and experiencing the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
