The best feature of Sky Cabin is the view deck right at river bank's edge, providing an incredible view of the Cascade Mountains looming above the clear waters of Skykomish River, a Washington Scenic River. The deciduous trees on the river bank are trimmed to not block the view while providing summer shade, privacy, and bird habitat. Since the deck is right out the front door, during nice weather you will want to eat your meals on the deck while surrounded by gorgeous views both up and down the river. The deck is also great for star gazing on clear nights. River access is 100 yds from the cabin.
Inside, the living room gas fireplace makes the cabin super cozy fall through spring. The rocking chair next to the large bay window will be a favorite place to relax and watch the river go by. There are seasonal birds on the river, including bald eagles soaring by in the winter, and an occasional river otter.
Sky Cabin is a very comfortable 1000sf cabin with the two bedrooms separated for privacy. The main bedroom has a memory foam king bed, large closet, TV with DVR, and a mountain view. The second bedroom with a queen bed has river and mountain view. A small sleeping loft/platform has a twin bed for an older child or small adult (limited headroom) accessed by a pull down ladder. There is a separate bunkroom with twin bunk beds available May-August.
The kitchen is large enough for several cooks, fully equipped for meal preparation, and the open floor plan keeps the cook(s) connected to those in the living and dining rooms. There is a view of the river from the kitchen via three windows - kitchen, dining & living room. The pass through to the dining area provides ease in serving, and the dining table seats six.
Sky Cabin has two TVs with separate programming, DVR, movie (HBO, Showtime, Starz, Cinemax), music, sports & family channels. Also, stereo,DVD/CD player, ipod connector & internet is available.
The 2007 seven-person Pilates hot tub has 96 jets and two programmable massage seats and is located 20 steps out the front door close to the river with a great mountain view. There is also a metal firepit for camp fires in the front yard with the same great river and mountain views.
Skykomish River access is 100yds from the cabin by a historic suspension bridge.
The cabin is located in Baring, 60 miles NE of Seattle and 23 miles west of Stevens Pass Ski Area. Baring is a small unincorporated town on the south fork Skykomish River at the foot of majestic 6,000ft Mt Baring, surrounded by Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and close to three wildnerness areas - Wild Sky, Alpine Lakes and Henry Jackson Wilderness Areas. The area is not touristy but is attractive to outdoor enthusiastists because of the area's beauty and many recreational activies - hiking, kayaking, whitewater rafting, rock climing, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, fishing, and biking. The cabin is located just off the famous Cascade Loop Highway, and makes a great stop for those traveling the loop.
