This home was perfect for our family. It was modern and the decorating was current. We had a nice front deck for enjoying breakfast and a private rear deck for grilling and hot tub use. The pictures are accurate. The 2 bedrooms and bathrooms provide privacy. We found the area coast line to be all we needed to enjoy the west coast, but the drive south to Pebble Beach was awesome, and the trip north to the city was quick, and even quicker if you avoid rush hour (20-30 minutes). It is easy to park and ride the BART before you get to the city if you wish. We loved Sam's Crabshack and and the local fresh fish market (catch of the day is yummy whatever it may be). We did have & need a car. The owners are very helpful and we would recommend this location for a friend or relative.

My husband, son and I traveled to the San Francisco Bay area to visit our daughter who was transferred there last year. We wanted a location that was not far from SF but also a location that wasn't in the middle of the big city. Sometimes pictures of homes turn out to be not "exactly" how they really look. Not the case with House by the Bay. Just like the photos it was super spacious, airy, bright, clean and very welcoming. It gives you a very warm feeling just like the owner, Kenny, who met us on our arrival. He graciously showed us around, gave us some good tips on area restaurants and the best place to buy fresh seafood and made us feel right at home. It was an easy 20 min drive into SF so meeting our daughter was so easy. Day trips to Nappa Valley, Sausalito, etc. we're quick and easy. We did the "Double Decker Tour Bus" tour and highly recommend it - great way to see all the highlights of the city. Daytime temps this time of year were in the high 60's and, as one that normally likes to vacation someplace very warm, I have to say that after suffering from the abnormally high temps in the Midwest this summer, we all thoroughly enjoyed the change. This home has everything you need and the layout is such that everyone had their own "space". It was a short walk to the beach and several area restaurants on the days that we didn't feel like getting in the car. I hesitated writing about how great this place was for fear we will never be able to rent it again because everyone else will want to stay here - but the truth is the truth and this place is simply fabulous! Thank you Kenny and Cindy for allowing us to stay in your lovely home!!

We were just able to stay 2 nights but we sure wanted to stay more. We drove down to Santa Cruz that was a mistake on a Saturday or a Sunday. The boardwalk was crazy packed with people don't go on weekends. The last night we went down to the dock and got fresh salmon, red snapper and steamed crab. We brought it back and cooked it and there's nothing better than fresh fish. Here are a couple of side trips we took. We went down to the Maverick's beach where they hold a big surfing contest in the winter. We went to Harley's Goat Farm and bought fresh goat cheese and petted the goats and don't miss downtown Half Moon Bay with it's shopping. Great location and a beautiful home. We would love to go back.

This past weekend my girlfriend and I had a wonderful time staying at this cute little split level cottage just minutes away from the coast. We were able to enjoy the jetted hot tub, grilled a nice dinner for ourselves on the bbq grill that was provided to us with brickets and lighter available. Inside was a very clean and cozy kitchen with very nice gas stove, refrigerator that had some goodies in it, the cupboards were nicely stocked with dish ware and utensils, even measuring cups for cooking. We were able to make ourselves some very delicious meals and enjoy them on the second level at the dining table near entertainment center, nice tv and disc player. on a third level was the sleeping area, nice queen sized bed was there, and then there was a very clean and inviting bathroom with shower. We met Kenny at the end of our stay and he was very considerate and asked if we enjoyed our stay and even was interested in feedback for any improvements, which showed how much he cared to have his guests enjoy the best experience possible. We thoroughly enjoyed the place, will recommend it to others, and will probably come back in the future.

The photo's list show the listing with great accuracy. It is very centrally located, to the beach or downtown San Francisco, Pier 39 and Alcatraz. It was also close to the Borsini-Burr Art Gallery, we travel there once a year for a Michael Parkes art exhibit. Previously we had stayed in motel rooms but this was much more cozy and relaxing. We still had internet access and all the comforts of home, without having to worry about anyone going into our room. We had an excellent stay in this cottage and have already booked it for first week in November 2012.

My husband and I needed a last-minute place for a week's stay and we stumbled on the listing for this cottage. And it's lucky that we did, because it was the perfect base camp for day trips into the city and the surrounding beaches. So nice to come back to a hot tub after a day tromping around. The unit itself is as pictured, but I would describe the sleeping quarters as an open loft, meaning that it's not really suitable for two couples traveling together unless you're on familiar terms. It would be great for a couple with kids, though. And if you have mobility issues, you may find the stairs too steep. We found the kitchen a little short on equipment (very basic pots/pan set and no bakeware or kettle, but we did leave a foil pan we bought) but not everyone cooks on vacation like we do! The cottage is in a residential neighborhood so it's fairly quiet, but there is some night life and shopping down at the harbor a short drive away (I can't picture very many people making the walk or bicycling those hills after a day of walking elsewhere) if you want that. All in all, a great experience and would recommend it to others.

The Cottage the Bay was perfect for our last minute weekend getaway. My husband and I were celebrating our 8 year anniversary and needing something relaxing and cozy. This was the perfect fit! As other reviews have noted, the pictures don't do it justice. The cottage is very well appointed, and very clean. The patio and jacuzzi out back are the perfect finishing touch. We are looking forward to returning and have already begun recommending this unit to our friends and family.

This is a great little cottage getaway. The kitchen is surprisingly well-appointed -- you can easily make a meal there. The hot tub and backyard are private and beautifully maintained. The cottage is clean, tastefully decorated with thoughtful touches such as robes and a couple bottles of wine. The bottom floor is the kitchen/entrance, the 2nd level has a bathroom with nice living room area/pullout, and the 3rd level is a loft-like space with bed and dresser. We only stayed one night but had a nice time exploring HMB downtown, grabbing a delicious meal at the Flying Fish, and walking along the coast. Note: If you have a baby or small child, there is no separate room for him/her. Also, the bed is a bit on the soft side.

We were so happy to have found this place:) It is so close to the Oceano hotel which is where we had to be for a wedding. You must use owners directions to find though. Owners were very nice! It is actually 3 levels and the pics don't do it justice, it is such a nice cottage:) I hope we get an opportunity to go back. I have already been referring this cottage as a small family get away or a romantic escape. We had our kids 2 and 5yrs and there was plenty of space for us.
