Our group of 8 friends gathered to celebrate one of our birthdays. The entire weekend was sheer perfection! Kirstie did a fabulous job of making us feel welcome and pampering us. Every bed had a lovely basket filled with fresh towels, paper goods and toiletries. There was even a bottle of champagne in the fridge for our friend's birthday! The sound of the surf was present in nearly every room. Couple that with the pleasant melodies from the player piano and it was pure heaven! The home comfortably accommodated all of us with the four full bathrooms. We got lucky and saw dozens of whales and dolphins from our comfy perch in the backyard. Amazing sunsets and the hot tub overlooking the ocean made for a truly romantic weekend. Can't wait to return!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Ruth and her friends were such a kick! Fun people with a real zest for life. They left the house in perfect condition. It was great to see how much they were enjoying themselves and the warm weather. I would welcome them back anytime.

We stayed here for the second time...this time for 3 days. You know a place is wonderful when you close the door and the stay seems to have lasted for one eye blink. If I stayed here for a month, it would not be long enough. This time we had winter weather which meant no clouds and no fog. Everyone had such a good time. Thanks Kirstie for letting us stay in your huge, charming house again. We will definitely be back soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: It was lovely to welcome Tom and his group back for a second visit. They now have experienced the house in summer and winter.... and learned that it is pretty cool anytime of the year! Thanks, Tom, for leaving the house in perfect condition...

We were so lucky to have found this amazing house to have our family reunion this Thanksgiving. It's tricky to find a house that is big enough for a three families, kids and grandparents, but this wonderful house in Carmel exceeded our wildest dreams. One of only two houses on the beach side of the road that hugs Asilomar Beach, we had incredible views of the ocean and felt as though we were in a nature preserve every time we walked out the door. My brother, who knows the area, has always driven by this house and thought to himself, wouldn't it be insanely great to stay there, so you can only imagine his reaction turning into the driveway upon his arrival! While perfectly wonderful a house to sit and stare at the ocean on the multiple comfortable couches in front of a cozy fire, we had an active bunch. We spent the Thanksgiving weekend biking 17 mile drive, skylarking among the tide pools at the beach, surfing, and kayaking in nearby Monterey. Everyone had options! The house is extremely well organized and Kirstie worked very closely with me to make sure everyone was going to be situated properly and comfortable. Our delicious Thanksgiving dinner was prepared in a well-stocked kitchen and served on a long beautiful dark wood table that fit all 13 of us and looked out over a changing sky -- a spectacular sunset eventually turning into a silky black night. We were entertained for hours with the player piano. The boys (ages 11-15) were completely absorbed by the game room and the little fort in the garage, and then had plenty of freedom to roam around outdoors. The grown-ups were able to enjoy each other's company in the generously large and comfortable living room. There was plenty of space for everyone. All the considerate little touches such as soaps and towels in baskets in the bedrooms made us feel well cared for. Although there are a number of excellent restaurants nearby, we couldn't tear ourselves away from the sunset each evening. Our last night culminated in a hilarious game of charades. Thank you Kirstie for sharing your home with us. It was the best!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

3 words: Heaven....on....earth. We spent 3 glorious days at this wonderful home. If we could do it all over, the stay would have lasted a couple days longer. There wasn't enough time to enjoy all there was to offer. The family assembled together to celebrate my parents golden 50th anniversary. In lieu of big pomp and circumstance, my parents requested time with the core family: myself, my brother and our spouses and children. Needless to say, this combination of personalities and needs had its share of challenges. The perfection of this home and location made all the difference to the outcome of our reunion. There was something for everyone, and plenty of room and comforts for all. The toddlers enjoyed Dennis the Menace Park, the aquarium and walking laps around the expansive living room, dining room and kitchen. The older kids loved the kayaking, bike trails, garage fort, foos table and kite flying. The adults loved the historical Point Pinos Lighthouse, the hot tub under the stars and the wonderful home meals made in a fully equipped kitchen. And everyone basked in the amazing backyard which consisted only of colorful ice plants, private beach, surf and sun. I cannot say enough about Kirstie. She is a most gracious, attentive hostess. Every inquiry and need was addressed immediately. Thank you for opening your home so everyone can experience that which only few have the opportunity to enjoy. For those who seek a better alternative then staying at The Clement Monterey , you simply must treat yourself to this beautiful place. You'll never go back to anything else.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Oh dear! One of my best friends is a Big Wig at the Clement... Please don't show her this lol. Liana and her family were lovely, lovely people and I would welcome them back to my home with pleasure.

We stayed as a party of five over labor day weekend. The house is one of only two homes in the area on the beach side of the street. Even on the holiday weekend, we saw very tourists on the trails along the beaches. The home is large and appointed with every possible amenity one could think of, and many more that one wouldn't. The owner met us when we arrived to show us how everything works (hot tub, gas fire starter, self playing piano, pinball machine, etc.) She was very hospitable without being intrusive. We have stayed in the area many times over the years; but, no other accomodations have compared.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We celebrated my parents' 70th anniversary in this wonderful house. The house was very cosy and comfortable, like we were visiting friends in their own home! The kitchen was very well stocked and accomodated several "cooks" at one time. The property is secluded and private and the beach really is right outside the door. The owner was very helpful in responding quickly to our questions and needs before and during our stay. My parents (ok, all of us!) really enjoyed the unbeatable view of the ocean from the living room. The bedroom and adjacent bath on the ground level are more modest than the upstairs rooms, but it worked for us. Thank you for the wonderful memories of this special occasion! We definately would return again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at this beautiful home in June for 4 days. There were 12 family members together for a reunion, and this home provided the perfect setting for our gathering. With plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, everyone slept comfortably and plenty of room for visiting. Kirstie had arranged with us ahead how we would like the beds set up for our stay. My 88 year old mom-in-law was fortunate to be able to use an extra suite on the main floor that also gave her an ocean view. The kitchen had all the supplies one would need, and enough room around the island for several to gather or help cook or set out buffet style food. We used the extension for the dining table so we could all be seated together for a couple of family dinners...and this with a goreous ocean view! Our not-so-young kids enjoyed the foosball table, ping pong table in the garage and the pinball machine. My teenage daughter loved the "fort" in the garage and slept there too. The hot tub overlooking the ocean was really a treat. Everything was in great condition and Kirstie did a wonderful job showing us around on arrival, and communicating with us about anything we needed to know. She pre-arranged with us for some work to continue behind the garage during our stay, and it was not a bother to us at all. The home is located in a gorgeious setting, and great sunsets too, but also close to lots of things to see and do in the area. We rented bikes and rode along the coast, visited the aquarium, Point Lobos and down to the Big Sur (lunch at the River Inn and a drink at The Rocky Point Restaurant), dinner one night at Fandango in Pacific Grove, and visited the Carmel Mission and had lunch at Casanova in Carmel. Thanks to Kirstie for a delightful stay in her lovely home, we all throughly enjoyed our time there!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.
Owner response: What a lovely family! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting them and hosting their reunion. They are welcomed back anytime...

Eight of us stayed in this wonderful home for almost a week. It totally met our expectations! We loved the location with all the pathways, the gorgeous ocean view, and the close proximity to a private cove. Sitting in the hot tub with with ocean view was a treat! Our hostess was the mostest!!! Her communication with us was so helpful, and the cute "extras" that she shared with us made it a special experience. It really felt like we were visiting a friend in her home. The fort in the garage was the five years old's favorite place. The home was clean and well maintained. We had one fixture problem, and it was fixed for us within 24 hours. We wholeheartedly recommend this as a great family place. Our favorite room was the huge oceanview living room, complete with binoculars! We almost enjoyed just being in the home together more than any of the site seeing that we did. Just perfect!!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We arrived at "Rocky Shores" late in the afternoon and were welcomed warmly by the owner. The view from the house is absolutely breath-taking and gets even more beautiful as the weather changes day by day. . . a little overcast at times, brilliantly sunny at other times . . . we even had a rainy afternoon which was a treat this time of year. Our family filled the house (11 of us) but still there was room enough for each one to pursue individual interests . . . the game room, the movie theater, reading while sitting in the Adirondack chairs and watching the sea otters play in the surf. We enjoyed the hot tub, the seaside strolls, biking, dining in, family games . . . but mostly the beautiful, peaceful setting. One goes to sleep with the sound of the ocean and wakes up to the most incredible seaside vista. Fun time! Great hostess!! Wonderful accomodations!!! We also enjoyed visiting Big Sur, exploring Point Lobos Nature Reserve (a must!), the Monterey Aquarium, eating clam chower at Fisherman's Wharf on a rainy afternoon, touring the nearby lighthouse and dining at some very tasty local restaurants. . . . A trip and celebration of a lifetime. Thanks to our hostess for her gracious hospitality and for sharing her beautiful home with us.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: What a beautiful family! It was a pleasure to host such a warm family reunion.

This beautiful setting was perfect for my family get together this past weekend to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. The ocean view right outside was spectacular -- we could not decide whether the sunset or the sunrise was prettier. We were a large group, but the home accommodated us all. The fact it was a "pet friendly" environment was a big plus. Having the "kid zone" was great -- they were able to be together having fun while the adults relaxed by the fire reading or just enjoying the incredible views. Whether exploring the tidepools, walking along the ocean, visting the Aquarium, or just listening to the ocean, the home was just right. Kirstie's hospitality in making the home ready for us all was greatly appreciated. My parents were thrilled to have all of us together in one place and we all have nice memories of this weekend in a beautiful location.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, sightseeing.
Owner response: Juliet's family couldn't have been nicer. They were a big group, with teen-agers and dogs, and I was a little worried about what kind of shape my home would be in when they left. Here's what I found: all the beds were made; the kitchen was clean. No sign of dog hair or muddy footprints on the carpet. And 3-dozen of the most beautiful tulips on my dining room table! What a pleasure to host their 50th wedding anniversary family reunion.

This house was amazing. We had beautiful weather and enjoyed sitting & watching the waves crashing over the rocks. It seems like this is the most beautiful spot on the whole coast, you have the ocean all to yourself. My parents who don't get around as well enjoyed sitting in the living room with the fire blazing watching whales (this is the life!) Everyone in our party (11 of us had plenty of room) kept complementing me on finding such an amazing place.. Kirstie was a very hospitable host and made sure everything was available with lots of personal details. We stayed in the secret room & I loved it! As an added bonus, all the bedding, linens etc. was top notch. I highly recommend and would love to stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: What a fun group this was! Showed up clearly ready to have a great time... I'm glad nobody spilled the beans about the secret to the Secret Room. And thanks for the wine. What a surprise that was!

The location of this home is just unbelievable. There is a very private beach with tide pools right in front of the home which the grandchildren (everyone in our group) just loved; spectacular views from every window; a beautifully furnished home; and, equally as important, an owner who cared that every detail of our family's Thanksgiving weekend was perfect. And it was. Over the years my family has stayed at dozens of VRBO homes, many of which were quite nice, but as my son-in-law says "It just doesn't get any better than this." It's nice when we're in 100% agreement on a topic. Thank you Kirstie for everything -- we will be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Betty and her family were the world's best guests. My home was sparkling clean when they left. They did the dishes and put them all away! I can't figure out how they knew exactly where to put everything... What a pleasure to share my home at Thanksgiving with such lovely new friends.

Five dear friends and I stayed at this property for a reunion and could not have been more pleased. We each had our own bedroom with a fantastic view of the ocean and the sound of surf to lull us to sleep. The house is large but homey with a multitude of artistic architectural details. It is private but within walking distance to everything you need, and the walk is beautiful. We had an excellent dinner at the Sardine Factory, saw an otter banging open clam shells in the surf near the nature trail, had a fabulous home-cooked feast on the ample dining table and lounged in the living room drinking wine in front of a roaring fire. The grand piano is in a spacious room by itself facing the ocean. I've never played a grand piano before, and it was truly inspirational to look up at the waves breaking on the rocks. I would describe the location as magical. On the last day of our stay, one of our friends photographed a buck deer with full rack wandering the grounds. If you have in mind for your vacation a place that feels like home--only nicer-- and is surrounded by natural beauty and wildlife while still being convenient to town, you need to check this out. It has everything--and then some.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
