What a wonderful birthday weekend at the cabin. Yay! No snow to speak of but the weather is just perfect. I enjoyed the meteor shower this morning seeing more than 25 falling stars in 45 minutes. Incredible luck to be here for the Lyrid showers. Steve & I enjoyed sitting on the balcony, reading, doing a puzzle and dining at the Greenhorn Grill. I think it's safe to say we will both be back soon. PS We did not know it was "bacon weekend" up here. Hehehe - we ate bacon with every meal!

We had a nice long weekend up here at your "kabin." Your stairs got a good workout from Ashley (age 4) and Emily (age 2 yesterday! 2/19). Thank you for providing such a well-stocked kitchen. Next time we can leave a lot of things at home that we brought "just in case." We all thought it was very clever to use puzzles as pictures around your dining area/kitchen. Ashley and Emily especially liked Disneyland.

Once gain, we enjoyed the cabin. Thanksgiving 2011: Joe loved playing Nintendo DS with Matt. Jen loved working on a puzzle and lunch at the Greenhorn Grill. Sophie loved watching Glee. Sarah loved shopping in Kernville. Matt loved hiking and playing DS. We laughed a lot at the Turducken! From now on, plain old turkey for us. We will return. The Constantines

We enjoyed our stay at Kamala immensely. We brought our scrapbooking, explored up the Kern River, and rested. The kitchen made it so easy to prepare meals without fuss and a lot of energy, so there was plenty of time to enjoy just being here. The cabin is warm and inviting and obviously loved. Mornings on the deck are so pleasant, looking out over the trees and watching the birds and squirrels. Even a little chipmunk would come up if we were sitting just inside by the television. It was also a treat to be able to follow the U.S. Open. Thank you for opening your cabin to outsiders. We didn't get to Frog Meadow (one of the most beautiful places in the world) to hunt for the elusive largest Sequoia, but maybe later.

I have wanted to get my family from Ohio out to see beautiful Alta Sierra and the surrounding landscape as words and pictures won’t do it justice. Dear Susan and Family, We had a wonderful two day rafting trip! We all got wet and enjoyed the weather. Hard to believe, but no one fell out of the raft. The cabin was great and very comfortable for everyone. We played games, took walks and ate at the Greenhorn Grill several times. The staff there was magnificent. We want to thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cabin with out family. We enjoy coming up to Alta Sierra and we had a BLAST out on the lake. My kids, ages 10, 7, and 3, had fun finding moths, sticks, rocks and playing on the deck. We had facials with our friends, enjoyed the peace and quiet. The weather was fantastic too. Thank you for letting us stay in your cabin. We all had an amazing weekend and time staying here. We shared great memories and had great fun playing UNO and board games. We had family dinners, we went to the river and the lake and we rented a boat. It was lots of fun. We will never forget this place and we will miss it a lot. Susan, The late winter storms turned our 2011 visit to Kamala into a great adventure. Getting into the cabin on snowy roads, even with chains, involved some long minutes in the wintry weather and required a couple of sturdy guys to ride in the last few hundred yard on the back of our SUV, hopping occasionally. But the effort was a perfect beginning to a great weekend retreat. The cabin became our comfortable haven, welcoming us warmly back from lunch at the Kern River Brewing Company, a hike through Alta Sierra and from sledding down snow-covered roads. We ate well. Watched movies. Played Wii. Talked about kids and family and transitions. We tracked a hungry cat and its cloven-hooved prey across the snowy landscape, though we never found out whether the cat (I maintain it was a bobcat) managed to land dinner. There was snow. There was rain. Snowballs were thrown. It was a great time.

OMG this was the perfect Sweet Sixteen birthday for my sweet Ashley. It was a little scary getting here with so much rain but it was WELL worth it. For me and my husband, we absolutely loved your kitchen and I like the openness of the downstairs area. Great for families! Thank you so much for letting us stay at the cabin. It was so incredible an experience I’m sure none of us will ever forget. The snow was absolutely breathtaking and we all had a blast having snowball fights, sledding and making snowmen. It was great fun listening to music and dancing around and playing games like “Apples to Apples” and “Would you Rather. “Guitar Hero” was a huge attraction as well as the entire TV setup. A great way to spend part of the winter holiday, we all had a fantastic stay.

Thanksgiving 2010 - despite our oldest being sick, had a great holiday. Perfect weather, lots of snow, great sledding. Games games games. Nertz, catchphrase. "Dear Susan and Mark, Lily (3), Henry (3), Jake (6) and I had a real blast up here in your beautiful cabin. The pictures from the website gave us a glimpse of what to expect, but once we opened the door, we all had big smiles on our faces. Once we got settled in, we put on our hiking shoes and strolled around the neighborhood and then I took them to the Unal Trail. Drove down to Pizza Barn for dinner and came back for movie night. Day two...headed to my favorite fishing hole (power plant) and immediately set up camp for some serious fishing and fun. Thank you very much for letting us stay in your cabin. Next time, Mommy will come with us.

We came up for a weekend getaway and enjoyed a quiet weekend with nothing to do. What a change from the constant activity with the kids! We played cribbage, watched a movie, took walks in the snow with some rain falling, some wind blowing, and did some reading. It has been so relaxing doing nothing! Tomorrow it's back to Bakersfield feeling refreshed and knowing Kamala will be here to visit once again.

When we arrived there was very little snow - to leave we will dig out and put chains on! Sledding, games,Wii, good food, hail, sleet and snow - what fun! Can't wait to do it again.
