Central Vermont Lake House with Large Lakeview Screened Porch
- Minimum stay:Contact owner

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Summer and fall, you'll sit on the large screened slate floor porch with birchbark beams looking out through the trees at the shimmering lake below. Kayakers drift by and across the lake all you see is the hint of houses by the lake and the trees of the mountains of the Green Mountain State Park which go from greens to golds, yellows and reds in the fall. The lake offers boating, fishing and swimming and a loon family whose plaintive cry and laugh you can hear at night and great walks and hikes around the lake. You'll find it so quiet that you can hear the breezes blowing in the trees and sometimes string music from the music camp around the bend. We are at the quiet south end of the lake. The property offers a large deck on the lake with kayak which may be shared with the owner if they are there and a tennis court and basketball hoop and swings.
The main house which has been in the family for over 50 years has 2 bedrooms with queen beds- one with lake view and 2 baths, large eat in equipped kitchen, full dining room and living room with deer heads and a baby grand piano! There is also a small porch on the kitchen with TV/cable.
There is also a large barn adjacent which has a fully finished upstairs with 4 bedrooms and bath which can be additionally rented. Close by in Brandon and Middlebury, you will find farmer's markets, craft stores, great ice cream and baked goods and restaurants and antiquing of course. In the area there are great quiet roads for bike riding and a bike shop in Middlebury where you can rent excellent road and mountain bikes. Skiing is nearby at Middlebury Snowbowl- 20-30 minutes and Killington and Sugarbush an hour away.
Winter and Spring, we rent a newer fully furnished house next to the older one, which is winterized and has 4 bedrooms upstairs and 1 and 1/2 baths. There's a cozy sunken seating area with fireplace looking out on the lake which freezes over in the winter. There are pictures of both rentals. This is the perfect place to get away and ski or just curl up by the fire and relax!

Our family had a wonderful week at this beautiful lake home in Vermont. The owners were very helpful and gracious in making us feel welcome and giving us information on the area. The home and ambiance was more than we could have hoped for! Between the barn and home there was ample space for eight adults and three children. The home was clean and well cared for. We felt so at home here. The dock and lake are stunningly beautiful. There are so many activities in the area that one can be busy all day with hiking, shopping, sightseeing or just relaxing on the dock. We love to cook and were especially happy with the kitchen supplies. We made apple cake, fresh picked strawberry pie, goat milk pudding, (after visiting wonderful Trevin Farm), goat cheese and a variety of tasty meals. It was a total gift of a week. We hope to return to this home away from home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
