On the second story of our cedar barn, you'll find a charming, cozy apartment that provides the privacy, comfort and affordability that a hotel or bed and breakfast cannot. Situated just 8 miles north of Durango, Colorado (right off Hwy. 550), the apartment is close to hiking trails, fishing, Purgatory Ski Resort and more, yet close enough to historic Durango to enjoy its shops, restaurants and unique attractions.
Just steps from the apartment is a running stream and small fruit orchard. From the orchard, wave to riders on the historic Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway, which runs parallel to the property each day. This apartment is perfect for couples or singles. PJ's, a gourmet market and wine shop, is less than one mile away, as is the Swing restaurant at Dalton Ranch Golf Club. Just five minutes north is Cuckoo's Wing Restaurant located at Tamarron Resort.
The unit is air-conditioned for your comfort. It also features a new, full kitchen with range/oven and fridge/freezer. The pantry is stocked with olive oil, vegetable oil, cooking spray, salt/pepper, sugar, and flour for your convenience.

This is the perfect rental for a couple. Everything you need - a queen bed, bathroom, kitchen with full size refrigerator, microwave, mini-stove, coffee machine, etc. Its located about 10 miles north of Durango (just a short drive away), in a quiet area near Hermosa. My wife and I stayed there for a week for RailFest and to watch the first stage of the US Cycling Pro Challenge. If you love trains, this is the perfect location, since the trains come right by the property (loft is near the Hermosa station) and even if you don't, the trains are not there before around 9:10 in the morning so they won't wake you up unless you really sleep in. My only comments are that it would be nice to have curtains/blinds in the upper windows for those days when you don't want to get up early, the bed is also on the firm side, and there was no operational light that we found on the side where the parking pad is. These are really nits - we really loved the place and will be back as soon as they start renting it out again! Thanks Mandy and Andy for a very enjoyable stay!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Great Cozy place. Very neat and close to town. We enjoyed staying out a few miles, and this was perfect. Mandy was great in assisting with any questions or concerns i had before and after arrival. We took the train from Durango to Silverton one day, and that was great. We did some exploring on our own in the mts. another day and then some mt. biking at Durango Mt. Resort. What a great time!!!! If you could make one change, it would be to add some curtains in the top windows. When that sun started coming in at 5:30, we were not ready to start the day so early! But there is lots too do, and we had a great time in your wonderful loft! Thanks for having us.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We have had two great winter weekends at "the nest". Perched up high with nice views of the mountains. Cute, clean, new construction, perfect size for two. Convenient to be half way to the ski valley and good places to snowshoe. Much more than three days and we would miss not having a kitchen in which to cook and would grow tired of eating and working from a coffee table. Looking forward to next winter's stay at the nest.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

The location was a perfect base just outside of town, and we traveled quickly to adventures all week long. The loft had everything we needed and it was one of the cleanest properties we have ever stayed in. The bed was very comfortable, with plenty of blankets available. Since it only ran during the day, train noise was never a problem, and it was a joy to see. There was some road noise that we were aware of during the night. I'm a light sleeper but my husband said he didn't mind it. If you run the A/C fan or have the windows shut during cooler weather it will mask it just fine. I would like to mention that the owners went above and beyond to help my husband surprise me with anniversary flowers and provided some useful hints on restaurants and hikes that we enjoyed very much. Although we never met the owners their touch was a bonus to our vacation. We would be glad to stay again and we recommend it to others looking for a clean, special cozy place away from the town. We would be glad to stay again and recommend Lilly's LoftRecommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Beautiful property and lovely home. Really enjoyed the Silverton train as it trudged by going to and from town. Beautiful view of the mountains behind the home. Enjoyed a bit of nature as we returned home one evening to find several deer waiting for us! Trip to town (Durango) was very easy and took very little time. I would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

This is a very charming, quaint place to stay, it is close enough to all the touristy things to do around Durango. It was great for just my wife and I to go back to and relax after a day out sightseeing. It had everything we needed so we did not have to worry about finding a place to eat if we didn't want to. The property was clean and well maintained and one of the owners, Mandy called us to see if we needed anything, like towels etc which was nice to see that they cared. It was right by a nice stream and the Durango - Silverton train line so we could see it pass and wave to the riders. I would recommend this to anyone of our friends or relatives to stay at. It was great value for money.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I stayed three nights in this charming loft. Believe me, this was NOT enough time!!! Not only is Durango great, but the property the loft sits on is great for walks, star gazing, and viewing wildlife! When we arrived, four deer were greeting us while laying under a tree. The loft is super clean with wifi available and many amenities great for a couple vacationing. (Satellite TV, coffee maker, microwave, wine opener, plus more). The owners even brought us down a portable air conditioner to use at our convenience (even though we didn't need it because the loft holds the cool air from the night wonderfully!). I cannot say enough good things about this little charmer! It's cute, clean, and cozy, and we can't wait to stay here again. Thank you Mandy and Andy for a great stay!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

This is a wonderful loft cottage for one or two people, whether the stay is for one night or a month. We stayed for 3 months, and it was very cozy and comfortable. Lovely inside and out! Very quiet. If you love the Durango narrow gauge steam train, this is the place to stay! The train passes within 300 feet of the cottage. Wonderful to experience history daily with a front row seat! The location is nestled next to a canal and in the trees. It offers much wildlife; elk, deer, fox, wild turkeys. The owners were very attentive to our needs but not intrusive. If you are a "Microwave Iron Chef", then the cooking accommodations will work perfectly for you. The mini food station offers microwave, coffee maker and small fridge. We loved this location and will return again and again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
