Restful in-City Retreat or Ideal Location to Explore Fremont!

This much loved Victorian 2nd floor unit provides a conveniently located, near-to-the-heart of Fremont retreat for two adults or for an individual, stocked and furnished with your comfort and convenience in mind. It has long been our dream to make this little home available as a quiet get-away for those needing or who desire to be in the city, and we are excited now to finally do so.
Please note: As much as we wish we could accommodate children, this unit is not suitable for young children.
At Linden, you will find your own outside entrance which opens to a small private foyer with a staircase leading to the living area:
~Living Room furnished with a European sofa which easily converts to a full sleeper
~Bedroom providing a comfortable queen-size bed and closet
~Small bathroom has original claws-foot tub, great for soaking, with shower accommodation
~Kitchen and eating area amply equipped for self-catering
~Balcony offers generous space for eating outside and an interesting view of Fremont
~Utility Room (detached), equipped with a full-size washer and dryer with supplies
If your idea of retreat is to explore, or if you're ravishingly hungry, a block away, the adventure can begin: This little district boasts of over 50 eateries, 17 bakeries and cafes (and that doesn't include Starbucks which is 0.2 mile away), and 17 listed bars and pubs! Whether it's The Flying Apron, a gluten-free bakery, Simply Desserts, possibly the best cake shop in the world (thankfully you can buy, by the slice!), or enjoying a pint and the $5.00 daily food special at the Red Door, you'll find it's all in your neighborhood. So is the Puget Consumer Co-op, a wonderful natural foods grocery that is amply stocked with everything from wine to ice-cream. And then there is the shopping: Bookstores, boutiques galore, music and flower shops. The Burke Gilman trail (42 miles in unbroken length!), wonderful for biking or walking, is a short walk away and borders the scenic water-way between Lake Union and the Puget Sound. This provides a wonderful in-city spot for picnicking, outside reading, or people and boat watching. In addition, minutes from your door is the famous Fremont Troll, the quaint Fremont Public Library, and the local landmark, the Fremont Baptist Church. If you want to explore outside of Fremont, a short walk takes you to bus stops that will easily connect you to downtown and to anywhere else you may need to go in the Seattle area. There is no shortage of what to do in Fremont! Unless walking is a problem, your car can stay parked; all of the above is with-in EASY walking distance.

Having stayed in dozens and dozens of vacation rentals around the world over the years, we can honestly say this is one of THE BEST we've ever stayed in. John and JoAnna have done an amazing job of providing comfort, convenience, and charm with this super-cute condo. From the amenities in the kitchen and the bathroom (pretty rare in most vacation rentals but plentiful here) to the great recommendations on local attractions to the spotless condition of the property, everything was TOP NOTCH. Wireless internet? Check. Hairdryer? Check. Free laundry? Check. Walk-able neighborhood? Check. Comfortable and up-to-date furniture? Yup! Really want to stay in a boring hotel room vs. this charming condo? No way! Like staying outside the city and driving everywhere/all the time or want an in-city retreat where you can walk to local bars, restaurants, shops, and cafes?? Bingo!! This property has it all!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind words and taking time to post a review of your stay! Always much appreciated! We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay and hope you find your way back again to Linden! Kind regards, John and JoAnna

...Your sweet little place is so charming and homey. We've been to Seattle several times to see our son, and found this to be the best way to really live in and enjoy a city. The fact that it's been home to a few generations in your family makes it that much more special and evocative of another time. Love that kitchen with its curved cabinetry and big window over the table :) And all the little touches - from the welcoming basket to the salt crystal lamp to all the great Seattle information placed here and there were special and appreciated. We really enjoyed a day trip to a cute little town up north, called LaConner, a drive over stunning Deception Pass onto Whidbey Island, a stop in quaint Coupville for a bite and then a ferry back to the mainland. We highly recommend eating dinner at Cantinetta in Wallingford and The Walrus and the Carpentar in Ballard; both are great and special. MacLeods is a beautiful old bar in Ballard. Again, many thanks! We had a blast in your cozy spot!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Thank you for your hospitality. You have a cozy, quaint place and we loved discovering Fremont for the first time. We especially loved its locale to SPU - just a short ride/walk away. Also enjoyed the Burke-Gilman Trail along the canal. Many Blessings.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you so much for creating this special place! It provided us with a great ending to our honeymoon. We've only come to love Seattle and Fremont more. We had so much fun riding our rental bicycles everywhere. Every time we came back after a sun-filled day to Linden Ave., it felt like home. Delicious coffee every morning, the great art, the fantastic deck, of course super-friendly John downstairs; there's too many great things to mention. Truly hope we'll be back here in the future. THANKS! :)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you so very much for the warm and charming retreat. We couldn't have asked for more. It was exactly the right place to celebrate over 30 years together. We enjoyed exploring Fremont, experiencing coffee shops and restaurants and walking everywhere! Reading about your family connection to this place really added to the charm. What a beautiful job you've done making this place into a peaceful little "island" in the city. Thank you so very much!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The listing description of this property was very accurate, and the photos completely reflected the cuteness of the apartment. The apartment itself was spotless, in a great location, and Joanna had thoughtfully provided some snacks which allowed us to have coffee and breakfast (apples) the next morning without having to find a market. Everything worked, and the internet was easy to access. Joanna was very helpful in answering questions and remaining in contact. I would definitely recommend this apartment to friends, and I plan to try to use it again myself.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Enjoyed being a part of the Freemont community, walking to places we drive to at home. In additon to the units being well located, with its own off street parking, we had everything we needed for a little in unit entertaining with our Seattle based daughter with ample cooking stuff. Excelent base for area day trips and seeing the sights of Seattle.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Fremont Sunday Market View on map
From Annie on Yelp, 5 star rating "I am SO lucky I can walk to this. The summer is obviously more exciting because better weather means more vendors, and that's when you'll find more produce and fresh flowers, but even in the winter you can find a LOT of different stuff here. Love the selection of winter veggies, handmade soaps, hats, clothes, flea-markety stuff, antiques, jewelry, the cookie lady (!!), truffles, books, and of course, all the tasty street food: humbow & pot stickers, indian, pizza, sticky rice, etc. In addition to a unique shopping experience, you can mingle with friendly people and pet TONS of cute dogs. The perfect place for a stroll, even if you don't feel like buyi

Theos Chocolate View on map
From Jean on Yelp: " You can buy Theo chocolates at a lot of locations, but you have to come to the source for the tour and the free samples :) The tasting room is free and open to the public. You can taste any of Theo's chocolate bars here - the origin bars, classic bars (e.g. mint, orange, spicy chile), fantasy bars (e.g. nib brittle, coffee, chai, coconut curry), and seasonal or special bars. The confections and other products aren't usually available for tasting, but no limits on samples of the bars and no pressure to buy. Taste to your heart's content! Check the website for tour times. Definitely make a reservation, especially on weekends. For $6, you get samples, an overview of t

Owner info
About the owner: My husband and I have been married 32 years and one of our favorite things to do is travel and better yet when we can sometimes do it with family and friends! We have house swapped with a family in Bristol, England, and have stayed in VRBOs ourselves in the United States and Turkey. We love meeting new people from around the world and sharing a meal or drink together when schedules permit.
Why the Owner Chose Fremont:
This 100+ year old Victorian duplex has been in our family for over 60 years and holds the threshold over which my husband's father carried his bride when coming home from WW2 in 1946. Three years ago our daughter and her husband were excited to be able to follow in those footsteps by beginning their married life in the cozy quarters of 3625 Linden before heading to another area for school and employment. This location begs to be shared and we are hoping you give us an opportunity to do so.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Location, Location, Location! This is what we have heard repeatedly over the years from family members, guests, and long-term tenants. You are close to so much, and yet the street is surprisingly quiet for it being in-city. Linden is at a high point in the Fremont neighborhood, so from the balcony you have a nice territorial view.
Distances and driving times to local destinations according to Mapquest: • SPU (Seattle Pacific University) 1.1 miles; 4 minutes • University of Washington 4 miles; 13 minutes • Pike’s Place Market 3.9 miles; 10 minutes • Greenlake Park and Pitch and Putt Golf 1.7 miles; 6 minutes • Getty Images .26 miles; 1 minute • Adobe Software Headquarters .25 miles; 1 minute • Closest Starbucks .22 miles; 1 minute • Fremont Library .18 miles; 59 seconds • Fremont Baptist Church .08 miles; 17 seconds • Fremont Troll .14 miles; 35 seconds • Space Needle 3 miles; 7 minutes • Sea-Tac International Airport 18 miles; 29 minutes (frequently shorter travel time)
