“The Loft” has been created with calm, tranquility, privacy, space, relaxation and “location, location, location” in mind! The ideal holiday retreat where one or two people can enjoy the art and culture, the geography, architecture, history and gourmet delights which abound throughout the town and the local region.
In the heart of the Vaucluse region of Provence, the medieval village of L’Isle sur la Sorgue, with its gentle sophistication and extraordinary character, is where the quiet country life and the buzz of daily village activity are in perfect harmony. Situated on the island in the centre of L’Isle sur la Sorgue, “The Loft” has very recently been totally restored and decorated with ‘creature comfort’ uppermost in mind!
Resting quietly in a small back street you’ll enter the building through a carved wooden door and immediately appreciate the warmth of the centuries old, curved stone staircase which takes you to the second floor and “The Loft”. Three picture windows bring in light and views (but no bugs, they’re screened!)....and with no building opposite there are no neighbors to wave to across the way! Best of all, two doors down you’ll delight in ambling off to one of L’Isle sur la Sorgues best restaurants, “La Prevote”, a must to visit....whether it be dining in their delightful courtyard under the shade of the olive trees, or inside where the river flows through!
The Loft’ is an open-plan, high ceilinged, loft-style apartment with two 90cm twin beds which can be made up as one 180cm king sized bed. The division between the sleeping area and the lounge area is an old 5-panel wood and fabric screen which I restored, inserting beautiful old linen, sourced at the local Sunday market, in the panels. The shower room houses a large shower, hand basin, w.c., hair dryer, washing machine, drying rack, ironing board and iron and heated towel rails. Kitchen facilities are plentiful with a microwave, oven/grill, 4 burner cook-top, dishwasher, fridge, coffee maker, toaster, kettle and more than sufficient utensils, crockery and cutlery should you feel ‘creative’and decide to eat-in.
The well known Sunday market throughout the town is a MUST; Thursday’s farmers’ market excellent; and throughout the year the evening farmers’ market in the neighboring village of Velleron, 5 minutes drive away, is superb for the freshest of fresh produce).
With an old wooden dining table and fabric covered chairs resting by one of the windows you can sip your morning coffee, munch on steaming croissants from the bakery around the corner, sip an “apero”, enjoy a lunchtime salad, light the candles for dinner... and watch the birds, bees and blue skies.....there’s oodles of space and comfort.
A collection of warm wooden furniture, some searched out at local antique and flea markets, some I’ve collected whilst living here, there and everywhere...... combined with the comfort of squishy cushioned sofa and chairs, topped with an eclectic art collection....I present you with “The Loft”. With telephone, television, a selection of English language channels, dvd, cd, radio and Wifi internet access, you’re linked to the world if needs be!
Air-conditioning in summer, heating in winter, a wonderful hideaway for holidays or a long sabbatical.
Parking is in 4 minutes walk away in a public and free carpark.
Should there be four of you travelling but desiring privacy and space, the ‘twin’ apartment I’ve called “La Niche Cachee” is on the first floor with exactly the same facilities, just decorated differently.

We stayed at "The Loft" the last week of Dec. 2011. The studio is very comfortable, clean and well maintained. Pam, the owner, has added a lot of nice details that make the studio just perfect. The kitchen and bathroom look new and everything works well. The shower is warm and has very good water pressure. The bed is big and comfortable. The heat works very well and we were very cozy. The location is amazing! I'Isle sur la Sorgue is the cutest town ever and the studio is located right in the middle. Its right off the main square. The town has tons of cute shops and great restaurants, cafes, tea houses and bakeries. I loved it! Pam was very helpful during the reservation process and very accommodating. I would definitely rent this place again and hope to do so.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: It's a buzz to receive reviews and to know that people have enjoyed the village and most specifically the apartment. I must admit I get a kick out of creating and caring for the apartment and I say there myself from time to time for the enjoyment but also to make sure things are all in order, clean and as we'd all like them to be. So many thanks for the feedback, it's greatly appreciated and you're more than welcome back any time. Thanks to you too for leaving the apartment in such good order. I feel so much better knowing others take care; my efforts are rewarded!

We loved our week in the Loft. The location is ideal for exploring all of Provence. The town itself has everything you need and then some. We loved this place! It was everything we thought it would be and more. It is very spacious, clean, cozy and quiet with absolutley everything you could possible need to cook, do laundry, read, listen to music, watch TV and relax after a full day of touring around. The huge windows allow for lots of light and air. Pam is very gracious and helpful. There is an amazing binder and basket full of information on what to do as well as all kinds of travel books about Provence--very helpful indeed!! Since we have been back we have enjoyed reading Pam's newsletters as it makes us feel like we are a little closer to Isle Sur La Sorgue. We really hope to go back one day. Thanks again Pam!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

This was a lovely place to stay with all the comforts needed for a week's holiday. The position was fabulous as it was easy to wander around the village & pop home with the market shopping before a leisurely drink or meal at one of the many colourful bars & restaurants. The furniture, equipment & ambience were lovely & comfortable. I always appreciate the basic larder where guests can use & replace condiments etc. The owner was friendly & helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a village week right in the heart of things. L'Isle - sur- la - Sorgue is ideally suited as a base for touring the region as many day trips can be enjoyed from there. Finding the closest village carpark was difficult at first but by the end of the week we felt as confident as the locals. The printed directions made all the difference.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

This is a true home from home and I was so lucky to find it. Right in the heart of this beautiful village is 'The Loft'. The owner is Pam who is so incredibly helpful and personable. She has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. She meets you on arrival and shows you how to use all appliances and there is a book full of things to do and places to eat, very comprehensive and very useful. This apartment is so comfortable and although it is in the heart of the village, there is not a sound at night. I could not recommend it highly enough and look forward to a return visit.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car.

We stayed here in December 2009, during a very cold, snowy spell. The Loft was warm and very central to the heart of the village. Very comfortable with a good bed and comfy sofas. Kitchen very well equipped. Nice shower and bathroon with washing machine. The car park was not too far away and the twice weekly market provided plenty of fresh vegetables and meats, plus unique gifts to bring home. Staircase to the upper floors was a little treacherous, but that is really the only complaint. Only really mattered upon arrival and then departure. Marseille airport was about 90 minutes away. Lots to see and do in the area. Had a great time, despite the Mistral and "le neige". Owner checked us in and was very accomodating. Love L'Isle sur la Sorge and would stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2008
About the owner: Australian by birth, now feeling a tad French. I've travelled and lived in various places around the world since departing the shores of Australia over 20 years ago. My love of France and everything European has resulted in my settling on L'Isle sur la Sorgue as the ideal location for living life to the fullest. I've bought and restored a house here, and have now bought and restored two apartments, also in L'Isle sur la Sorgue..... Australia will always remain very dear to me, but there's just something about the history and geography, the architecture and style, the attitude and way of life throughout Europe, specifically France....that grabs me!
Why the Owner Chose L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue:
Being Australian, water has always been something I love....the Australian beaches cannot be topped! One of the attractions in L'Isle sur la Sorgue are the waterways, the water wheels and the cool and friendly ambience they help create. The history of the village, the smiling locals and the abundance of things to do, places to go and discoveries to be made, combine to create a unique environment.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
'The Loft' is ideal for anyone wanting something other than a hotel room....somewhere they can call home for however long or short their stay is. I've filled the apartment with a melange of my collected pieces, so it's a very personal apartment and one which I love people to settle in to and enjoy. Restaurants, cafes and bars are all close by, parking is easy and the sun pours in the picture windows. Warm, friendly and welcoming.
