Our stay at the Urban Cottage has been our dream. My husband is just retired and we were looking for a wonderfully long chance to spend more time with our son and his wife, and lovely grandgirls, Mia and Anna. We had a chance to go to softball games, music programs and even be present for the losing of teeth and the advent of braces. It is those everyday moments that we have so dearly missed. The cottage has provided a perfect backdrop for all of this. Lori, it is like you have anticipated our every need. And even today, our last full day, (sniff), I am discovering little treasures in your home - wonderful little pieces of sculpture, beautiful serving dishes and the best stocked library ever. I am an amateur watercolor devotee and have been blessed with many painting opportunities. Doug and I love to garden and we arrived with the camellias, saw the beginnings and full bloom of the roses, and are enjoying the wonderful scent of the jasmine. We love our home in the Midwest, but will be more than happy to call this a second home, Thank you Lori for being a perfect host.

We just spent two months in the charming urban cabin and were delighted and will definitely return. The location near the park, library, local markets and restaurants is ideal. The house itself is well appointed with luxury linens and towels. The breakfast nook is a delight with the camellias at the window. The large dining table is great for family We had 12 for pizza and all enjoyed the place. Our grand kids could play in the garden and walk to the park. Lori is very accommodating and aims to please. There is great feng shui in this place. Everyone who visited loved it and felt comfortable. We hope to return soon and repeat this positive experience.

The Urban Cabin in East Sacramento exceeded our expectations! This beautifully-maintained, charming home is spacious, clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. It is situated within walking distance of a number of restaurants, a nice market, a nearby park, and many beautiful neighborhoods. It is also but a short drive from mid-town Sacramento, should you want to see an IMAX movie, walk the neighborhoods of the "Fab 40s," or explore your restaurant options. The neighborhood is quiet and the beds comfortable, so you should sleep well. Lori and Kevin, the owners, have compiled a very helpful notebook which will answer any questions you might have, about their lovely home, or about the area. They also have many great books available to read, games to play, and a DVD player should you want to rent a $1 movie from the nearby market. A complimentary bottle of wine is a nice touch to kick off a relaxing stay in this darling home. My husband and I give it our highest recommendation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your urban cabin. Close to mid town, old, town and river park. Your home had everything we needed. Tastefully decorated from the pictures on the wall to the white plush robes in the closet. Even though it was a chilly week your home was warm and toasty. We enjoyed coming " home " every evening. We were waiting for our grand daughter to arrive and were comfortable the whole week. Loved the binder with all the info we needed menus. Marketsvetc. If you we're a first time Isidore it would be very helpful. Everything was clean and you were as charming as the cabin!!! Will come back

Very nice house, beautifully decorated. Loved the historic neighborhood and easy access to downtown. The owner was very nice to work with. However, this house has maintenance issues: The floors were really dirty and I had to vacuum and mop as soon as we arrived -- not too fun after a very long drive. The doorknob was missing from one bedroom door and another bedroom doorknob came off in my hand. The kitchen sink faucet was faulty and hard to operate. The glasses in the cupboard were very dirty and had to be washed before use. There was no way to park in the driveway without one of us being forced to step into mud. It's unfortunate because with better maintenance, this house could be a fabulous place to stay.

We loved our stay at the Urban Cabin and only wished it could have been longer. I felt at home immediately after walking in the door and was pleased to find everything in pristine condition. It was easy to tell that customer satisfaction is of the utmost priority. Beds were comfortable, beautiful backyard, ideal location near downtown and within walking distance to the wonderfully serene McKinley Park...we'll be back, for sure.

After looking at a bunch of places, I settled on this place because of it's location and also multiple rooms. It was my brother's wedding and family from all over the states and even Korea came to attend. I knew the place had to be nice enough for everyone to feel comfortable and have a good time before and after the wedding. This cottage was perfect for that. The place is so tastefully decorated and has a full kitchen. We loved the long dining bench that we can sit around to eat and talk. We were able to house about 11 people one night, even though the place said it's for 6. This space is absolutely amazing. More than that, it is literally 5 minute drive from the high way and you can get anywhere in 30 minutes. I highly highly recommend this place, and if I'm ever in Nor-Cal again I am definitely booking this place again.

My family recently rented this property for a relaxing week-end getaway. To our delight, it was very comfortable, charming and cozy. It is very clean and well maintained. Just a wonderful alternative to a hotel stay.We enjoyed the patio area and the ability to have guests over for visits. We appreciated all the info left for us about shops and restaurants in the area. Pam and I would recommend the"Urban Cabin" to anyone. We have been coming to Sacramento for ten years to visit our son;this was by far our most comfortable visit.

We had a wonderful stay in Our Urban Cottage. Everything needed was anticipated and provided. We felt "at home" away from home. The photos gave us a real glimpse of what to expect. Tips to places to visit and dine were utilized with pleased results. The owner was most helpful in booking the cottage and in accessing it. We were close to downtown activities and enjoyed walking the beautiful, peaceful and inviting neighborhood as well. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone.

We booked the "Urban Cabin" for a little scrapbook weekend with just the girls. It was easily accessible from Business 80, situated on a beautiful, tree-lined street among equally adorable homes. The home, itself, was so much more charming than we could have imagined. We loved the decor and special touches. Our only regret was not booking an extra day. We'll definitely return for another stay!

We are so glad the title of this property has changed to a cottage rather than a cabin as in the UK the latter is off putting and this is a lovely place to stay.It is not a cabin ! We would recommend this to anyone and if you are site seeing it is a brilliant location for so much. we reckon you could fill two weeks if you visited SF, Yosemite , Napa etc. As we have been to some of those places before we chose to spend time more locally , although we did go to Tahoe , Coloma and the Gold towns .We loved the area, so safe and green, plus the local supermarket and the pool at the park, a bargain at two dollars. The beds and linens were good and the patio a delight for eating out at night. We only used the barbecue once but it was excelent. We would certainly recommend both Sacremento and this lovely house ..it is not a cabin!!!!!

This is a beautiful house, a lovely home and we felt very comfortable here for our 6 night stay. It is very well positioned, easy to get around but you do need a car as whilst it is lovely to have a walk in the area and around McKinley Park it is a bit too far to walk into the town. If you are looking for a relaxing stay this is the place, it is very well appointed and there is everything in the house you would need. Great to have the garden to sit in too and the street is so quiet. We were not disappointed in anyway and would definitely recommend the house to anyone visiting the area (we'll certainly go back if we are ever in Sacramento again).

I have rented many vacation homes, but the "Urban Cabin" in E. Sacramento has to be one of the most comfortable and charming of any I've stayed in. My sister and I only wish we could have stayed longer! The owners have thought of everything a guest would need or want-- lush linens, beautiful decor, and a lovely backyard patio. Great neighborhood, near wonderful restaurants-- fabulous!

Three friends stayed at the Urban Cottage and had a wonderful time! The home is just that: home! Everything is neat and clean, well furnished and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, the linens are luxurious with plenty of pillows, blankets and towels, and the small backyard is comfy, secure and private. Just walking through the neighborhood is a treat, although McKinley Park and the rose gardens are just a few blocks away. Mid-town Sacramento at it's best describes the Urban Cottage. Thank you to our hosts for making sure we had everything we needed. We will return!

"Urban Cabin" couldn't be a more accurate description of this beautiful home, located in a beautiful area of Sacramento. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pictures that were listed perfectly matched the home and the property. The home was very clean and very well-maintained. There are restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores all located within easy walking distance or a short drive. We didn't have an opportunity to walk over to the park, but that will definitely be on our "to-do" list during our next stay. I couldn't recommend this home more. It is a perfect property to come home to after a day out on the town. I would highly recommend this home. Lori, the owner, was very sweet and accommodating at answering all of our questions. Be sure to treat yourself to this beautiful home!

We had a wonderful time at The Urban Cabin in Sacramento. We loved everything about the house - it's architectural charm, the decorative touches and comfortable beds. The pictures are lovely but it is even better in person. What was truly memorable were all the added touches from the owners. They had the lights on in the house to great us upon our late night arrival. The grill's propane tank was full and ready to go. And all the little details: from coffee filters and starter coffee to basic condiments in the fridge. The location of the house also couldn't be better. McKinley Park was perfect for jogging and letting the kids run off some steam (a great playground and basketball court). We were even able to partake in their Easter Egg Hunt and Carnival events - there seemed to be something going on all the time. We can't wait to stay at The Urban Cabin again in the future. It is definitely a perfect home away from home.

A friend and I (mature academics) had a spring break getaway here, and found it, even in a cool, rainy week had a wonderful time. The property was exactly as pictured; beautifully maintained, and the owners clearly care to put thought into their guests' comfort. Decor was subtly designed with a great sense of color; linens are first-class. Overall an extraordinarily comfortable place to stay. Every day we walked to the park, the grocery store, neighborhood restaurants. The neighborhood is beautiful, low-key and safe (and nearly everyone had floribundant camellias in bloom!). Freeway access couldn't be better (easy and nearby without being noisy), and we enjoyed day trips to Napa Valley, San Francisco, Capay Valley. I'd recommend the Urban Cabin without reservation, but I'll note there's nothing "cabin-y" about it; it's a well-appointed, lovely city cottage.

Thanks for the home-like accomodations while we were here to help our son and daughter in law with the arrival of their first baby.(a baby boy-our first grandson). It was very nice to have a comfortable house to call home while we were helping out. This little house has a lovely feeling to it. We love the morning light and its peacefulness. The enclosed back yard is lovely too-the furnishings, the location and the generosity of spirit of the owners make for a memorable stay!

My husband and I stayed at the cottage for 7 weeks. It is an adorable house with interesting architectural detail and full of light. We had everything we needed to enjoy living there and we hated to leave at the end. With family close by-our reason for coming to Sacramento- we often had dinner parties, grilling out on the lovely patio. Our hosts had thought of all the details to make life run smoothly and the little extras which one would hardly expect, like picnic baskets. The location of the cottage is great, close to a large park and the library, and to restaurants which we enjoyed. We were able to communicate with the owners easily and they were extremely gracious and friendly. We would definitely recommend coming here again and hope to return ourselves very soon .

We stayed at the urban cabin on and off for 6 weeks over July and August 2011 as we are living overseas - although originally from Sacramento. What an absolute delight it was! We have teen boys ages 13 and 15 and the home was perfect for us. East Sacramento is a terrific established neighborhood with beautiful older homes and lots of trees. There is a wonderful park a short block away, great restaurants from burgers to trendy, easy for grocery shopping, near the state capitol, museums, the very alive Midtown/downtown area and even a yoga studio around the corner! We used it as a home base and entertained friends and family in the lovely backyard garden that has a super gas barbecue. The owners have made the cabin very welcoming, stylish but comfortable and furnished it lovingly and were thoughtful and very kind hosts. We look forward to staying in it again when we are back for our visit next summer. So much better than a hotel room ... one of Sacramento's best kept secrets! Thank you so much for making our 6 weeks living out of suitcases such a pleasure!

Everything was exactly as described. The hosts were exceptionally helpful and the property was neat, clean, and well appointed. We very much enjoyed our stay and would gladly recommend this property to others. Our family of five (2 adults, 3 children) was quite comfortable, loved the convenience of the locale, and were grateful for the opportunity to have our first visit to the West coast be so well accommodated. We were able to take in Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Old Sac, Napa/Sonoma, the Sacramento Zoo, and visit with family in one week!

Our family highly recommends this cottage; it was a great find for us, with our two adult children! Although it is listed with two bedrooms, it well serves as three. The TV room can be completely closed off, and includes a closet along with the sofa bed, making it easily serve as three, which is an advantage, leaving the livingroom free for others to use, as needed. The photos and description depict the cottage very acurately. There were some staples left in the house which helped since we flew from across the country to vacation here! I would have loved to make use of the fireplace (ready log provided) if it had been a little colder! Everything was in tip-top order, and very clean! The owner was very helpful and attentive to all questions, even before we arrived. We would have no reservations recommending this property to other family or friends. Our time was limited to about 3 1/2 days for touring, but we were able to enjoy The Governor's Mansion, The Leland Stanford House, The Railroad Museum, The California Military Museum, The Sacramento History Museum, and visiting McKinley Park. Candy Heaven was great, as was The Rio City Cafe, on the waterfront in Old Sacramento. The covered and enclosed patio seating (with a shade & thick plastic which could be raised) was a plus there, right beside the tour boats, and the food was supurb (the roast pork & plantains, esp.)! All of this was within about a 15 min. drive from the house, if I remember correctly. It so happened that the church we planned to attend while in Sacramento was between 5-10 min. from the house as well! All in all, this house in it's location served us exactly as we had hoped, as we visited with our son (who lives in San Fran) and came to be with us for this family vacation together.

We stayed in the charming cottage for three nights. (2 adults and 2 teenagers) It was everything promised on the web-site and then some... the private back yard and charming neighborhood was in full bloom. The house is filled with sunshine and spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds and luxurious linens. The location in Sacramento is good: close to highway access and downtown, but in a pretty and walkable neighborhood. We followed the owners' recommendation for a good Mexican restaurant and were not disappointed!

Absolutely charming and beautiful! We came to California from Michigan to visit family. This was my first trip and I just knew a vacation rental house would be perfect for our trip. Five of us stayed at this beautiful home and my grandma absolutely loved having the fireplace. We love the little breakfast nook where you can have a nice cup of coffee and look out at the beautiful Camillia trees that were in full bloom during our stay. This was a great central location for all of our trip needs. It was only 15 minutes from the airport! We drove 2 hours in one direction in order to see the amazing redwood trees up in "Big Trees National Park" and on our way back stopped in each little town to window shop and explore. Then a different day we traveled in the opposite direction for an hour and a half to meet up with family in Turlock. We also sampled a bottle of wine that was available in the house so we decided to go to the exact winery in Plymouth and it was a beautiful experience! We really enjoyed one beautiful sunny morning when we just took a stroll around the neighborhood and looked at all of the houses. They are all so unique, well kept and have an artsy feel to them. We were also very lucky to have temps in the high 60s and low 70s. I recommend going to breakfast or lunch at the nearby restaurant "Orphans". Its also within 2 miles of a grocery store and the freeway which was very convenient. Thank you again for having us and we hope to come back again soon!!!

The beautiful cottage is located on one of East Sacramento's most desirable streets. Charming with all the comforts of home. Loved the proximity to McKinley Park, our favorite restaurants and shops. We are looking forward to a return visit.

We had a wonderful time in Sacramento in the 'urban cabin'. The home was well fitted out with everything you could want. We were able to stay for an entire month and able to take advantage of all the amenities the house had to offer as well as the convenience of the location. Located just a short walk to McKinley park and the library, the proximity to restaurants and shopping was terrific - it was a pleasure to walk the tree lined streets and not have to get the car out. The owners were so accommodating and took care of any request or need we had. The queen size bed was so comfortable and the sheets and linens were beautiful. The furniture was comfortable as well, we sat by the fire most nights reading and talking. We highly recommend staying at this beautiful home.

We rented the "urban cottage" to be close to our new grandchild. The lovely, well-furnished house on a quiet, tree-lined street near McKinley Park came with all the comforts of home, including dishwasher, washer and dryer, tv, and friendly neighbors!. We really appreciated having a well-equipped full kitchen to cook for our kids, who were close enough to walk over with the baby stroller. The dining room table accomodated our entire family. The beds and sofas and chairs were very comfortable. We are so glad we spent our week in Sacramento in this house. The owners have given thoughtful consideration to a family's needs and the result was a wonderful experience for us.

Comfortably fit 4 adults & 2 little kids. The "Urban Cabin" was built in the 30's and maintains the charm of the error yet is updated to suit a modern aesthetic. The neighborhood is equally as cute. A nearby rose garden & park, great restaurants & monuments made for a fun day of exploring the city. And the price was half of what we'd have paid in downtown Hotel. Most definitely recommend.

I was looking for a place to stay in East Sacramento while visiting family, and was so pleased to have found this "cottage" on VRBO. This is a lovely home, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The bed in the master bedroom was as comfortable as a bed in a top hotel. The yard is private and charming. The neighborhood is terrific--the house is a short walk to McKinley Park, and several coffee shops and restaurants are also in walking distance. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to spend my vacation, and will definitely be back!
