The Chalet retreat is nestled in the pondarosa pines with a meadow view off the 2,000 sq. ft deck. These picturesque mountains of Utah's National Parks provide a frame for the famous 'Color Country' landscape. The mornings and evenings are cool and refreshing at an altitude of 7,500 feet. We are a hosted year round facility. Family reunions, group retreat, fall color watching, Paunsaugunt Plateau or group hunter lodging, UEA school out week, or holiday get-togethers-- we have your needs covered.
The cabin is a hub (some call it a destination ) for a variety of activities from skiing or riding bikes down Utah's famous powdered slopes to adventuresome hiking through ancient river gorges bordered by sheer rock faces. Whether after a day of sliding down the Pink Sand Dunes, hiking to Calf Creek Falls near Bryce Canyon, or fishing in the beautiful clear rivers and lakes, you can unwind and reminisce of the day's pleasures in a hydrotherapy spa.
Your day might start out with horseback riding, a visit to Cascade Falls, lava tube exploring at Mammoth Caves or snooping through the many rock shops in the area. For a day and evening adventure you can fancy yourself with a live play at the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, not far from Brian Ski Resort or Cedar Breaks National Park. The Tuacahn amphitheatre in St. George where evening performances are spectacular among a natural stage of red rock cliffs is another area attraction.
Who says you have to do anything! Schedule in a day off to rest and just stay at the 'Destination' and choose to relax in a tree swing or hammock with a good book, grill or cook your dinner at the fire pit. At dusk linger to watch the breathtaking sunset followed by twinkling stars showing up so you can witness the 'Milky Way ' in all it's splendor!. Later, if you're still feeling energetic you can socialize in the game room playing Pool or a faster-paced ping-pong game.

We had fun going to the AAA Chalet. We traveled with three families. All three families have kids who are similar in ages - 8-18. The kids all loved the game room, the space to spread out, the zip line, the fire in the fire pit. Jim and Bonnie were gracious hosts who made our time together very nice. This would also be a perfect place for a family reunion. We spent two days exploring Zion National Park with our kids, including hiking Angel's Landing. We spent a day in Bryce as well. I only wish we had had more time to explore the Coral Pink Sand Dunes and the state park on the way to Bryce. It is a good solid drive to any of the parks. I was surprised to find that it was kind of nice to be off of the beaten path. One thing I wish I had realized before we came down was that the kitchen did not have a dishwasher. We probably would have brought some disposable plates and silverware. But, the kitchen is well equipped with things like crockpots, an outside grill, etc. Fun time!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers.

Just got back from an awesome stay at this beautiful cabin in southern Utah! There was a total of nine of us who stayed here for a family Thanksgiving. The cabin was very spacious and had all the accomodations for cooking our Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone really enjoyed the game room and jacuzzi. Bonnie and Jim were great host and made us all feel welcomed. We stayed Thursday thru Saturday and spent most of our time just hanging out at the cabin and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The cabin was not far from Bryce Canyon (40miles) so we went there on Saturday during the day and it was amazing! A must see if you happen to be in this area. Just wanted to thank Bonnie and Jim for everything and to let ya'll know that it will be a Thanksgiving we will always remember. : )Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Great location and wonderful people. You can't do better than this if you want a good place to vacation. Lots to do within driving distance too. But nothing better than sitting on the deck or around the fire pit in the evening......so peaceful.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a great place to take a large family (28) and have all the comforts! Our entire family (including children) had something to do almost 24/7. Jim and Bonnie are great hosts.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thanks Dustin, I have a collection of "lost items" you left here--umbrella, new white shirt, book, shoes. Will you have Jason call me so we can drop these items off at his house when we are there for conference. We had his email but I just can't find it!

We came for a large family vacation. Hopefully, we didn't drive them crazy! Our FAMILY had a Great Vacation! The kids loved the zipline, and the Audlts loved the Deck! The view off of the deck was amazing. We had over 20 Grandkids and there was enough space and things to do we didn't feel like all the kids were right under our feet. We would definately stay again. The cabin is bigger than it looks in the pictures, and has a lot of open living areas.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

What a delightful place for a family gathering!! Our grandchildren are still raving about the wonderful time they had there. The location was ideal, the accommodations great, and the multiple activities at the cabin kept everybody enraptured, especially the zip-line. We were able to take short trips to Zions and Bryce National Parks, as well as other hiking activities up around Duck Creek and Navajo Lake. Indoor and outdoor cooking facilities and the fire pit made cooking and evening entertaining easy and enjoyable. Did I mention how much fun the zip-line was? All of our contacts with the owners were positive and they were always helpful. We recommend this cabin and its location as a great place for any size family.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

I was just at the A frame chalet last week with 7 friends, and it was such a treat for us! the place is centrally located, so we were able to visit both Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. Bonnie and Jim were so sweet and eager to make us feel at home. The hot tub was amazing after our long days of hiking. Kitchen and living area are super cozy and allowed for us to have some great home cooked "family" dinners. We even got to use the fire put one night--great views of the stars at night. Tons of beds and room for all of the guests. Overall, I could not have asked for more--we had an amazing time!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We decided this year to do a family Thanksgiving surrounded by trees and snow and for my family with three young boys...this house was perfect! The location is beautiful and very convenient to Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Brian Head. When we weren't out exploring, we were relaxing back at the house in the hot tub and the boys could keep going with a pool, fuzeball, and ping pong available. Jim and Bonnie were very accomodating and available anytime we had questions. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a nice place to take a family for vacation!!!.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: We love the outdoors and have spent a lot of time in the High Sierra's and Lake Powell over the past 25 years. After living in Beijing China, Ghana Africa and Hong Kong it feels so good to be home. Three years ago we decided to remodel and build out our property for our family of 31+ to enjoy. But you know young families with jobs don't get as much time away as they would like. Our home is so comfortable and amazing we decided to share it! We welcome you to be our special guest. Why the Owner Chose Zion National Park:
It's really a destination place between Zion and Bryce National Parks. Some guests just love to relax and enjoy the many amenities we offer. Everyone comments on how centrally we are located to so many areas of interest between the two major national parks, Bryce Canyon and Zion.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Our adult children enjoy the proximity to Zion National Park (45 minutes to the SW), Bryce Canyon National Park (45 minutes to the NE), Cedar Breaks (30 minutes to the W), and many other local attractions like the Lava Tubes, Navaho Lake, Brian Head Ski Resort, and so on and on. The summer-long Shakespeare Festival is also only 45 minutes to the West in Cedar City. They can even reach Lake Powell and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon on day trips. Staying here they can enjoy our 7 person hydrotherapy Jacuzzi after a hard day of hiking, and the attached workout area if they still need more exercise – all of this is part of or goes with the vacation rental home. Our grandchildren enjoy the inside game room with its pool table, table tennis and fooze ball, and the outside 500 foot zip line across the meadow, along with the fire pit, tether ball, and the full size volleyball/bad mitten court. They also enjoy the horny toad hunts on our 9 acres of forest and meadow – they collect them all summer long! In short, this newly finished and furnished home addition will provide a wonderful experience for families and groups of adults – there are amenities and activities for all ages in this beautiful home in the pines and the surrounding area.
