This executive residence is being offered fully furnished and equipped and is set in beautiful Belmore Gardens, which is part of the heritage listed National Capital Garden City Plan. The property sits opposite the park in a very quiet setting in Barton and is within walking distance to Parliament House, Lake Burley Griffin, Kingston and Manuka shopping villages. Other attractions accessible on foot also include the National Gallery, the famous Bus Depot Markets on the lake foreshore, parliamentary triangle and the National Library.
The award winning gardens have in past years been Canberra’s Garden of the year and are professionally cared for as part of the tenancy. Many original heirloom plants still thrive such as the huge magnolias, rhododendron, box hedges etc. The original cottage has been renovated and extended to facilitate expanding family and corporate needs. These renovations are sympathetic to the original cottage design and seamlessly transfer the house and garden marriage of the original cottage to a very large easy living home. There are comprehensive outdoor entertaining areas and quiet reflection courtyards.
The entry takes you through a formal lounge room basked in winter sun and simply furnished. This room has an open fireplace and a side door to a small flagstone terrace for morning coffee or evening cognac. The formal dining room flows from the lounge and can cater for most dinner parties with an extendable French provincial dining table and matching buffet.
The kitchen is at the hub of the property with a large brush box timber island bench for casual meals and gourmet preparation. The kitchen window looks out to magnificent flowering trees and window boxes. The kitchen is comprehensively equipped with gas cooking under exhaust hood and ice maker refrigerator.
Enter the family room of enormous dimension featuring north facing bay window looking onto the front gardens and a rear sliding door onto a timber deck leading to the water feature central to the outdoor entertaining area. The family room is well appointed and caters for all sorts of living with a dining area, entertainment area, casual reading lounge area and day bed.
There is a separate office/study which is part of the original cottage and comes complete with open fire place; a wonderfully quiet room for study/business or contemplation. Ample bookshelves and a French oak writing desk help turn work into pleasure.
The property has four large bedrooms which are complete with two queen size beds and plenty of storage. The master bedroom has a king size leather slay bed and a huge bay window which looks out to the rear gardens, bordered by box hedges and roman fountain. The fountain is illuminated at night and makes great viewing from the bedroom. There is an ensuite to the master bedroom with a double vanity and a ‘Hollywood’ screen less shower. The large main bathroom boasts a spa bath, heated tiled floor and has ample storage for all ages. The fourth bedroom is in the form of a separate self-contained studio ideal for teenage privacy or guests. The studio/bedroom has its own private courtyard with water feature and is north facing so is warm and bright. There is a queen size leather inner spring sofa bed, kitchenette and bathroom. This room is a very comfortable large area to live.
The rear entertaining area is classically landscaped. The paved area is under cover with plenty of dwarf wall seating. Granite bench tops and sink make for serious BBQ’s. The water feature adds to the atmosphere and provides some acoustic privacy. This area is large and can cater for 30-40 guests. It has outdoor lighting and makes for a pleasurable day or evening function.

It has been an absolute pleasure to do business with you, my husband and his associated have loved both houses that they stayed in, they have been comfortable and warm and because they have been able to stay in functioning houses and not horrible apartments with tiny kitchens they have looked after themselves a lot better and cooked their meals instead of living on takeaway. My husband found not one thing to complain about besides the cold in Canberra and being away from home of course. So thank you for being so easy going and thank you for having such lovely accommodation to stay in, we will definitely get in contact with you again when we are back in Canberra!!!

We enjoyed our stay at your very warm, comfortable and well equipped house in Canberra. It had the ambience of a loved family home and garden without intrusion of the owner’s personal things being left around. We chose it particularly because of the fireplaces and appreciated the supply of firewood and kindling. We would like to visit again when it is warm enough to enjoy the large outdoor dining and BBQ area when the trees have their leaves again. The location was very convenient as we could walk to the Kingston shops and restaurants, Telopea Park, the Sunday Bus Depot Markets and with a bit more energy to Parliament House and the Art Gallery.

This house was absolutely perfect for our needs while on holidays in Canberra. It was spotlessly clean and perfectly located in a nice quiet area. The owners were terrific to deal with and were more than helpful to us. It was within walking distance to some lovely shopping / eating areas.. as well as the Parliament district, museums, market etc. The only downfall we had, had nothing to do with this property it was brilliant, but I wouldn't recommend the Spanish restaurant at Kingston, the food was awful and extremely overpriced. And all the markets were closed over the holiday period which was really disappointing.. But Canberra itself is excellent to visit and this property is perfection...
