  My husband, doggie and I had a wonderful time at the Bear Cub cabin!! We were happy we read reviews and came stocked with food and wine for the weekend so we had no need to venture out. While a little tricky to find in the dark just after an ice storm (as anything would be), it was worth the drive and we were so happy to arrive and find exactly what we wanted - a beautiful, updated cabin with the most comfy bed we've ever slept on! The deck is absolutely fantastic - the view is really unbeatable and perfect for watching sunrise and sunset in the winter. Hot tub was perfect, too! We were also able to enjoy a wonderful hike with the pup in the fresh snow which was our exercise for the weekend :) Alyson was super to work with - prompt, helpful and accommodating. Not much to do in the middle of winter but relax so bring your iPad loaded with some good movies, some steaks to grill and and some wine! We can't wait to go back.

  My husband and I have been renting in the NC mountains for over twenty years...from W. Jefferson to Valle Crucis and every hill and valley between. Through the years, we have learned what to ask, what to look for, what matters most to us...cleanliness, comfort (decent beds AND furnishings...believe it or not we've been on sofas with broken springs and you'd hit the floor when you sat), privacy and a view. This cabin has everything and beyond. The ride up TO the cabin is, in itself, an adventure (be sure to have 4wd) but coming down the driveway awaits an expanse of breathtaking views and wilderness, unsurpassed by most! The decor and furnishings were first rate; including kitchen ware (pots/pans/dishes). The hot tub was serenity every day (especially with a nice bottle of Pinot Noir). The flatscreen TV downstairs (in the den) is very nice; I just wish there had been a stereo or a way to connect the smartphone for music but that was not an issue considering all the other amenities. Leatherwood community is one of our favorite places, overall...we hiked several days and had rides schedule (however, torrential rain set in and that never occurred). Alyson was nice to work with and answered every question (which were several) before our booking. We brought our beloved fur baby and that made our two week getaway feel like "home away from home" in every sense! The wrap-around deck with gates ensured our fur baby wouldn't get away and could settle in on the deck to sun without worry. Bear Cub Cabin will remain in our top three!

  We just returned from our visit to Bear Cub cabin. It is exactly what we were looking for. The cabin is very private. The interior is very tasteful. The views are spectacular and the hot tub is an added plus. The hiking trails near the house are also convenient. If you are looking for a remote cabin with plenty of privacy then this cabin is perfect for you. There are no nearby stores so come prepared with plenty of food and drinks and just relax.

  Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

  Our time at Bear Cub Cabin was great. The cabin is located in a nice gated community, but it has the feel of being on 50 acres by itself. We had everything at the cabin we needed for our stay. The hot tub on the deck was a nice way to relax at the end of the day. The view from the cabin is beautiful. I would definitely recommend this cabin.

  My husband and I stayed here for a romantic getaway for my birthday. This cabin is exactly as described and the pictures do not do it justice!! Total seclusion! The property was immaculate! The bed, with down comforter, is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!!! We had all plans to venture around and in Boone for our trip and ended up spending the entire 4 days at the cabin, only leaving long enough to go to the grocery store :) The views are astounding! Enjoy your morning coffee and look out at the mountains, or stay in the hot tub (like we did the whole time) and enjoy the mountains and peace. Alyson is phenomenal and a huge help! We are already looking forward to a return for our anniversary in February!

  To say this is one of the most romantic places I have been (and there are plenty) would be an understatement. Quiet, secluded, scenic and ultra private. My wife and I had not had a private getaway in over three years. We were long overdue and chose to share this special time here. We were advised to stock up on food and wine before we got there. Good thing we did. We parked the car on Thursday and never saw it again till the following Tuesday. The morning started with a quiet cup or two of coffee on the deck overlooking the valley. Near noon we switched to some wine and snacks (on the same deck). By evening it was time for, you guessed it, a bit more time on the deck with a refreshing soak in the hot tub. This seemed to be a pattern for the next 5 days or so. We thoroughly enjoyed our time doing nothing at all. We can't wait to see it in full fall colors and springs splendor!! Do not miss your chance to visit this special place.

  My wife and I desperately needed a quiet, romantic weekend for our third anniversary. We needed an escape from the busy lives we lead. This was just the place we needed. When we parked the car on Thursday evening it seemed unrealistic that we could leave it set for a whole 5 days but that was exactly what happened. The location was a quiet, remote and VERY private get away. The cabin was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean upon arrival. Our time was completely undisturbed and uninterrupted the whole time. We had quiet coffee on the deck in the morning as we gazed at the valley. We sipped wine in the afternoon on the same deck or a we lounged in the hot tub as the world slipped away hour by blissful hour. If you need a place to get away and truly relax...this is the place for you. If you decide to come be sure to stop for groceries and supplies (don't forget the ice cream) and plan to settle in for a time of quiet sharing and romance, you won't want to leave!

  We have stayed at this cabin multiple times and always try to book this unique cabin when we need a relaxing,private,romantic getaway. The cabin is nestled in a beautiful wooded mountain property which overlooks a gorgeous mountain scenery. The cabin is very well maintained and the amenities go above and beyond any normal cabin. The pictures on the website are very accurate but do not due it enough justice. The atmosphere,scenery, and privacy are the best around. This cabin has everything you could ask for! Our favorite part of the cabin is relaxing in the very clean outdoor spa which overlooks the mountains. The owners are very helpful and friendly and go out of their way to make sure our stay is just as enjoyable as the last. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone.

  My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate our 6 year anniversary. We had a wonderful time. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway this is the place to visit. The cabin is located on several acres and is extremely private. The sunsets from the deck are astonishing! The house is located less than 5 minutes from numerous hiking trails. If you want to visit Boone or Blowing Rock it's about a 30 minute car ride. We are looking forward to another visit!!

  What a great cabin! The inside was clean and well-kept, the furnishings were comfortable and attractive. The bed in the master bedroom was AMAZING! The outside was great, the wrap-around porch was perfect and the views/sunsets were breathtaking. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing time. My husband and I went to celebrate my graduation and my passing of my national exam, this cabin was the perfect place to celebrate. Luckily I read the previous reviews and packed everything we needed, the cabin is remote and you won't want to leave once you're there. The hiking trails were all within walking distance and offered great exercise. I will say that you need to bring some rubbing alcohol, we had to remove a few ticks after our hikes and we didn't have any rubbing alcohol or vodka. The hot tub was the perfect place to soak our sore muscles and relax. We highly recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a great escape. Alyson was great, she answered all of our questions and was very prompt with her responses. Lovely setting and a wonderful cabin!
