Such features as Lake Crescent, Merrymere Falls, and fantastic hiking trails are only minutes away. You will be a short drive away from such day trip adventures as Hurricane Ridge, SolDuc hot springs, ocean beaches, the ferry to Victoria, and Forks the home of Twilight fame. Lake Sutherland offers seasonal fishing to those with a Washington state fishing license.
Each bedroom is a master suite with its own bathroom. Enjoy sitting in one of two sunrooms that overlook Lake Sutherland. Grab a book and relax, or play on the lake. You can bring your boat or jet ski and tie off at our dock. Our lake is a great place to ski, wakeboard, tube, fish, or simply relax and take in the scenery.

Our family rented this house for 5 nights in September, 2011. We have an 8 month old baby and a 4 year old son. We could not have asked for a better rental house. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, meticulously maintained and hotel-quality clean. The location is dreamy… right on the deep green lake with gorgeous views of the lush evergreen mountains, often blanketed in fog. The amenities abound!! Kayaks and life jackets (of all sizes), BBQ grill with stone patio and fire pit, hot tub overlooking the lake, king size master suite with jetted tub and HUGE walk in closet, laundry room (a necessity for families), big screen TV’s with a great movie library (including tons of kid’s movies), mostly everything you would need in the kitchen – including the most beautiful stove you’ve ever seen. There’s privacy and separate bathrooms for every bedroom – and a 4th common bathroom off of the kitchen. And if all that isn’t enough… my four year old screamed with delight when he discovered the secret closet playroom, whimsically painted with grass and sky, and fully equipped with toys and puzzles!! Being closer to town (it's a solid 20 minute drive), and having more privacy from nighbors (houses are close on all sides) would have put this place over the top. I have rented many houses over the years, and this one is at the very top of my list. I hope to make this our home away from home when visiting our family in Port Angeles!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I think the title says it all. The house was great, nice clean and with plenty of space for our group to hang out and relaxe. The view is beautiful, with a lake less than 50 feet away. We woke up and did yoga on the dock, grilled a few dinners, napped a lot, and had a great time. Its a little closer to neighbors than we expected but we weren't being rowdy so that wasn't a worry. You'll be really happy with this place though so don't worry about proximity. The owner was very considerate and even checked in on us Friday night since we arrived much later than we had planned. If I had any complaint at all its that the grill is a little small, but the cabin isn't really built for huge groups so that probably won't be an issue. If you want a nice peaceful place to stay in a nice small lakeside community with easy water access you will love this one.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We rented this vacation home viewing the reviews and pictures in VRBO. Though the location and Lake view is good, the facilities in the home are poor. No hot tub, very old grill with empty propane cylinder ( We have to call the owner for a replacement). No locking system for most of the bathrooms, dirty kitchen utensils with lot of stains. Owner just cashed the security deposit check ($$$) just informing we have more visitors during our stay which is ridiculous. Our friends who stayed near by visited during our stay and the owner says "Our housecleaner was next door working and took a picture of your group, giving proof of the violation of the terms of this agreement." So someone is spying you always in this vacation home. Be careful about your privacy before you rent this home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with young children.
Owner response: We have been doing this business for two and a half years. We have had nothing but pleased and satisfied visitors to our place. It is true that we don't have an outdoor hot tub any longer, but that is clearly noted on our web page. The grill is one year old. It is not a large grill. Yes they did have an empty propane tank, but I immediately brought over a replacement tank. My wife and housecleaner take great care to insure that everything is clean and that there aren't warn or stained towels and bedding. We gave this group a 10% discount because they booked within a week window of arrival, as well as a fee that didn't represent the raise in price for a May rental, we also allowed them a late check out. I feel we had more than gone the extra mile in this case. It wasn't that our housecleaner was spying, she was working on the house next door, and called me when she saw way more people on our property than what was booked and paid for. The house was left very messy after this group, we had just had the carpet in the house professionally cleaned two weeks before, and there were two stains left on the carpet after this group left that took considerable effort to remove. Our neighbor on the other side as well commented on the large group that was there for both of the days. Our rental agreement notes that, "Violation of Agreement – If Guest(s) violates any of the conditions of this Agreement, Agent may terminate this Agreement and enter premises. Upon notice of termination of this Agreement, Guest(s) shall vacate the Premises immediately and forfeit all rents and security deposits." I never want to have to confront our guest, we want them to enjoy, relax and have a refreshing time. In this case I couldn't just let all of this slide. We have never taken peoples security deposit for miss use or abuse in the past. Our guest in this case didn't want to make things right. I am truly sorry that they weren't satisfied, they seemed satisfied until confronted, and left a very positive note in our guest book, saying "the home was amazing". Winston

We had a family reunion at Lake Sutherland and rented 4 different houses in the area. This one was by far the nicest and had the best location. The owners were very nice and helpful. My young grandaughters loved the closet/playroom. All of the family made good use of the kayaks (and life jackets). The table in the sun room was a perfect place to do jigsaw puzzles. We had a great time and would highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We have stayed in too many VRBOs to count and this home has now topped the list as our favorite. The pictures acccurately depict how incredible this place is (sometimes the pictures make it look better than it really is) - except for one thing - it's actually nicer! The setting/lake is Faulous!! The house was immaculately clean, no corners were cut because it is occasionally rented, linens like a fine hotel, and owners close and very attentive. The lake could be a vacation on it's own, but also so close to so many other sites/adventures. WOW - such a nice place and what a privilege to stay there - thanks - I hope we can come back again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

While our daughter's family was home from Europe, we had our whole family (8 of us) together on the Olympic Peninsula. Our grown children "approved" of Mom's choice in a place to stay! We had plenty of room and were more than comfortable. Eating meals on the enclosed deck overlooking the lake was the very best. We did enjoy many of the local sights. My son-in-law had not seen this area so we went there for him. Hurricane Ridge, Sol Duc Falls, Rialto Beach, Hoh Rain Forest and a nice dinner at Lake Crescent Lodge were all enjoyable, but everyone might have been content to just stay and enjoy this lovely home. This house makes the most of the lake with great views, a lakeside fire pit we enjoyed in the evenings, and a nice dock reaching out into the lake. Our stay was too short, but we found a great new way to vacation as a growing family. We would certainly recommend this amazing property to friends or relatives. Thank you for sharing this very peaceful place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This property exceeded our expectations. The pictures on the site are great, but don't do the place justice. It's by far the nicest rental home we've ever stayed in. It's obvious Winston and his family have put a ton of work into this house. It's cozy, functional, great for a larger group, has a fantastic view, and includes everything you'd need! Coffee filters, ironing board, crib, DVDs, kayaks, hot tub, beach toys, grill, extra towels - it's completely stocked which is so helpful when you already feels as if you're bringing half of what you own. We also appreciated Winston being really easy to contact and getting back to you right away with any questions. I've been much less impressed with other owners on this site. All in all we highly enjoyed our stay, were all delighted with the house and had a great time! We hope to come back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our small family stayed in this wondful home July 30 - August 6, 2011. We looked at several rentals prior to making this decision. We were not dissapointed! The home is beautiful - the best one (location & construction) in the Maple Grove subdivision. We watching Bald Eagles diving for fish while we eating bfast, people water skiing, canoeing, swimming (cold for us Texans!), fishing and kayaking. Location, Location, Location is what this home was about for us. Easy driving distances to Hoh Rainforest, Lake Crescent, Cape Flattery, Hurricane Ridge, Port Angeles, Sequim, 1st, 2nd & 3rd beaches, Salt Creek for low tide and if you have girls.....close to Forks. Even spent a day in Victoria, BC. We had a wonderful vacation, doing everything including just watching snow melt on the mountains across the lake. My son caught several trout off the dock and one night saw a river otter. This was a wonderful respite from the daily stress combined with a break from the 110 degree Dallas weather. We highly recommend this home; it is well appointed, clean, comfortable, beautifully designed with lots of detailing, and the owners' are nice as well!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

The home was the setting for our first ever family reunion of five adults and three children under age 12. We were in awe when we arrived since it far exceeded our expectations. It was much more spacious than we imagined. Everything we needed was provided. The place was immaculate. We spent our days hiking Marymere Falls, Hurricane Ridge (our favorite), and Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge. We also toured Port Angeles and Sequim during our five day stay. The kids had a blast kayaking, fishing off the dock, and splashing in the water which was a bit too cool for swimming. Our stay was incredibly relaxing. We couldn't have selected a better home or location. We recommend it highlyRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Where else can you be kayaking and watch the eagle soaring while watching a rainbow develop at the end of the lake. Can not say enough good about the house or location. House was beautiful, surroundings amazing, very central for visiting the coast and victoria. Would love to come back and stay again. Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: We recently bought another waterfront home across the lake on a large parcel. It has become our primary residence with the possibility of adding a rental cottage on that property. We love the lake life.
Why the Owner Chose Port Angeles:
We had lived in the home we are currently renting on VRBO since 2000. We love Lake Sutherland and bought a cabin across the lake that has becoming our new home. The mountains that surround our lake give the feel of being in one of the great western mountain resort settings.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I love to go out on the lake and Jetski, water ski, wakeboard, tube, pull our grand kids behind the boat, or just sit out on the dock and read a book.
