We stayed at Barkley Cottage for 4 nights for a wedding in Little Rock. By "we" I mean my wife and myself, our daughter and her husband, and their 2 very small children. It's a quaint, very homey, and comfortable space in a pretty neighborhood. Another reviewer pointed out that the neighborhood felt a bit less than secure. We really didn't have any concerns about that and no problems. It's very near downtown and there is some low income housing nearby, but that just didn't constitute a concern for us for this stay. It is initially a bit confusing how this property is set up. It's a large house that is, in fact, essentially a triplex. So, if you're picky about the use of the term "cottage" here, fair enough. That said, we had no noise issues (although we undoubtedly created some via our grandchildren! No complaints from the neighbors, though.) Susan, the owner, is responsive and appropriately laid back. Incidentally, two of our family members (the bride and her sister) stayed just around the corner in the main B&B, and had a fine experience there as well.) I'd certainly recommend this property and I hope we have occasion to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We went to stay at the cottage due to having surgery for my mom the next day. The owner's were very kind and supportive during our stressful time. Upon arriving to the cottage it was a very elegant and comfortable experience. Between the beauty of the help and the beauty of the cottage it made a stressful experience so much better. The cottage is located a few blocks from downtown and not far from the hospital but it is in a nice neighborhood that makes you feel at home. We appreciate all of it very much and will continue to highly recommend the cottage and other rentals. We look forward to visiting when we do not have an emergency so that we really enjoy them free of distraction. Highly worth staying!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I have stayed in several properties we reserved through vacation rental by owner and bed and breakfast web sites, and we always depend heavily on the reviews of people who’ve stayed there previously. That’s why we think it’s important to write a review of our recent stay in the Hayward “Cottage” … to list both the good and the not so good. First impressions first. Yes, it’s a quiet neighborhood in the historic district near downtown as advertised, but the drive-in had us underwhelmed. It’s obviously an older neighborhood and there are several homes in various stages of refurbishment, so it was good to see the area is being reclaimed. But, there were things that gave us concern for overall safety. They were small things but still there, such as the late-night barber shop around the corner with security bars encompassing the air conditioning unit to deter theft possibilities. Then, upon arriving in front of the property, we were a bit confused if we were at the correct address. Our reservation was for the Hayward “Cottage”, but clearly this was a house instead. What we thought was going to be a separate housing unit, was really a triplex. A wonderfully restored triplex, yet not a cottage. Once inside, we found very nicely appointed living quarters, including quaint Christmas decorations. It has beautiful wooden floors, an inviting foyer, a sturdy iron king-size bed, a TV and wifi connection, and a reasonably comfortable sitting area combined with the kitchenette and bistro table set. The kitchenette has a full stove and oven, microwave, under-the-counter frig, coffee pot, toaster, and all the dishes/pots/silverware we needed. All was well until the temperature outside began to drop into the twenties. The unit is advertised to have central heat and air, which is true, but we did not have control of the thermostat. We also were not able to turn the gas fireplace on as there were no operating instructions anywhere. So, it soon became far too cold for comfort. Kudos to Susan, the owner, however as she responded very quickly the next morning to our email about the heating situation. She had housekeeping provide instructions for the gas fireplace and to turn the thermostat up a few degrees. This helped make the remainder of our stay very pleasant. That, plus the fact Susan allowed our 3 1/2 lb Maltese puppy to stay with us. Overall, we enjoyed the Hayward “Cottage” but wanted to give others the benefit of our experience.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.

I recently spent four lovely days in Little Rock at Rosehaven's Barkley Cottage. My husband and I chose the cottage based on the online photos and price. We were a little skeptical that a busy guest cottage would look as good in person as it did in the photos. We needn't have worried. The cottage was not only beautiful, it was impeccably clean. We felt like the first guests! There was also an attention to detail that made our stay more comfortable than we had expected; the very well appointed kitchen was a pleasure and the bathrooms were luxurious. The paved porch off the our bedroom in a lush, well kept garden was probably our favorite spot. Barkley Cottage is an exceptional combination of meticulous detail and warm comfort.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was so cozy and felt like home-away-from-home. We enjoyed starting each day with a delicious hot breakfast and fresh fruit, which was delivered to our front door. The cottage was close to the airport, museums, Clinton library, minor league ballpark and our favorite, the river market! The cottage was beautifully decorated and had an amazing courtyard with patio chairs and mature trees for shade. It fulfilled all of her needs and we will stay there again in the future.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Book your Little Rock accomodations at the Rosemont. Be pampered with spotless lovely rooms, wonderful breakfasts delivered to your door and comfortable beds. I found the Rosemont on vrbo and decided to stay at one of the cottages. It was very spacious with a foyer, large bathroom, cozy bedroom, living room with small kitchen and an added bonus of a lovely and serene patio and garden. Dining on the tree canopied patio, hearing birds sing, and in the evening watching the fireflies were so relaxing. Susan, the owner, allows your 4 legged family member to stay for a small fee. We enjoyed our days at the zoo, museums and the River Market area. Little Rock attractions are just minutes away from the inn or the cottages. Say goodbye to hotel/motel rooms and spoil yourself with comfort for a very reasonable price.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Ok,,,I am an innkeeper myself and know how hard innkeepers work to offer a good product and the sacrifices they make in their lives to entertain strangers everyday. So, take it from me ...Susan is an amazing innkeeper. Her attention to detail made the perfect holiday for my husband and 90 year old Godmother. We felt pampered every moment. We stayed in Barkley cottage and it was pristine, completely restored to its original heritage and integrity but with the added necessities of modern living. We loved the high ceilings, spacious rooms, gorgeous hardwood floors and lovely furnishings. Breakfast was delivered hot each morning without a hitch. The linens were sublime not to mention the best bathrobes on the market. The inn and cottages are centrally located making this the perfect spot to stay in Little Rock. You can't go wrong with this choice. It was our pleasure to stay with Susan and our pleasure to recommend it to you.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in the Barkley cottage with our 3 boys and German Shepherd and have gone from thinking family vacations were a thing of the past to planning our next one. The cottage was great; we had plenty of room for everyone including guests. It was beautiful without being fussy or over decorated. We had comfortable beds and every amenity we could want. Most importantly for my kids, there was a big, flat screen TV with more channels than we could use and ports for all their game equipment. We also had a huge backyard with a privacy fence, grill and seating. The neighborhood was lovely and charming, too, which made walks a pleasure. Little Rock has a lot to offer families looking for fun on a budget. Our host, Susan, gave us directions to two of our all time favorite locations: Willow Springs and the River Market. The River Market is in all the tourist info but we had the inside scoop on when to go and what to see which made traveling with a 7, 13 and 16 year old much easier! Willow Springs became our most popular get away and I know it wasn't in any tourist information. Susan told us about this gem and our vacation was all the better for it. We are already planning another trip to "our" cottage for this fall. I can't recommend Rosemont, it's staff and Susan enough. We had such a wonderful time in the cottage. It was very clean, pretty and well appointed. Anyone who is so welcoming to a big family with a big dog and makes an inexpensive trip feel like a world class vacation is exactly the sort of person I want to have my business. Thanks, again, Susan for the great time!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I were in Little Rock on business/family visit, and after a few days at the Peabody, (which is nice if you're a hotel person), I decided I needed a comfortable space, a kitchen and an outdoor area---and I found the Rosemount listed in a visitor's guide. There's the B&B which is beautiful (has a great garden area for guests) but I love cottages for the privacy, so I called Susan and booked the cottage, which sounded way to good to be true--great photo's , but you never know!! Loaded all our things into the car and headed over---I met Susan (although she'd already had me set, how to enter, etc., by email I walked in to check it out before my husband, and from the moment I opened the door, I was thrilled!!!---High ceilings, gleaming hardwood floors, nice rugs and charming decor- reminded me of the New Orleans cottages I love--it has a great backyard (fenced, private, lots of shade)-absolutely beautiful bath and the most comfortable bed and sheets I've ever had in a rental (other than my own)..I could have hung out there for months!!! Nice breakfast delivered to you so if you're not into breakfast with a lot of other people around, it's perfect!!! I recommended vrbo to her and I hope even business people in town for a few days can come to know this "home away from home" and enjoy it while in Little Rock--location is also perfect --a few blocks from downtown and minutes from the interstate!! Thanks Susan--this cottage is a jewel!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info

About the owner: After a successful career in Dallas advertising, I returned home to Little Rock to enjoy the charm of this exciting city with its vast historic district. I opened Rosement Bed & Breakfast and once it was established, I followed my heart's desire which is guest cottages. I love the lifestyle of the neighborhood, the slower pace of inn keeping, and the joy of staying home and having a wonderful world of guests come to me.
Why the Owner Chose Little Rock:
Urban life has a special energy and enjoyment that isn't often offered in Bed & Breakfast and Vacation Rentals. I wanted to live this life and I thought there would be a lot of other travelers who would love it as much as I do. Well preserved and restored historic property is very special and it is a joy that I wanted many to share with me.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
A calm, peaceful setting in the middle of a bustling city. We are minutes away from UAMS, two other area hospitals, the business district, the River Market, Clinton Library, plus the Hillcrest and Heights areas ... restaurants, clubs, museums, shopping ... the world within ten minutes!
