Oliver house description

Black Sage Beach House is a 3 bedroom + bunkhouse situated on beautiful Tuc-el-Nuit Lake, a spring-fed oasis amidst the splendor of Canada's only true desert in Oliver, British Columbia, Black Sage Beach house is a scenic 4.5 hour drive east of Vancouver and a 20 minute drive north of the border on Highway 97. Relax and enjoy the peaceful views of the Okanagan Valley from our backyard or enjoy the panoramic views of the valley while kayaking or canoeing around the lake. Tuc-el-Nuit Lake is perfect for families - safe, shallow entry (no sudden drop offs), warm, clean and quiet - kayaking and canoeing only. Throughout the day spend your time relaxing at home or visiting the local tourism sites and come home to a lakefront bonfire or hottub.

Black Sage Beach House is perfectly situated amongst the best wineries Canada has to offer. Oliver’s Highway 97 and Black Sage Road are host to many award-winning wines. From large vineyards to small cottage wineries, there’s plenty to sample in the Wine Capital of Canada! We have 2 premium golf courses Nkmp Canyon and Fairview Golf Course. The attractive climate fosters popular tourist activities including summer water sports, golf, bike riding, horseback riding, triathlon training and sight-seeing. Oliver hosts the Half Ironman and is a perfect home base for all your training needs.

Oliver is located near the south end of the Okanagan Valley sandwiched between Osoyoos and Penticton, in south-central British Columbia. Just 25 km north of the USA border, Oliver sits in the only desert area of Canada. Oliver is an ideal setting for growing Okanagan wine grapes and produces some of the best rated wines in the world! Of course its mild weather year-round makes Oliver a great place to visit any time of year.

This house was the perfect home base for our group of 6 adults on our 5-day stay in Oliver. We golfed at Nk'Mip and Fairview under perfect weather conditions. The Festival Of the Grape (a wine harvest MUST DO!) was a mere 15-minute walk away. The hot tub was well-appreciated after all our activities and the deck was lit up by the full moon on Saturday night and we could see the impressive outline of "The Chief" in the distance. Sunsets were honey golden and reminiscent of Tuscany as the colours of the rolling hillsides reflected in the lake. Our friends from Spokane and Sandpoint, Idaho were duly impressed with the plethora of fine wineries, the amazing golf courses and our perfect accommodation. Thanks, Joanne!

The place was amazing! It is even better than in the photos. It easily accomodated 14 women. The place is set up very well with everything you need for a weekend away. The house was spotless when we arrived the owners make it easy to leave on the last day. The open kitchen and living room is very comfortable and great for entertaining. The deck out front is a perfect place to relax and suntan. We had amazing weather and the lake was great for swimming! There are many wineries nearby and the town of Oliver is close for all amenities. The place is set up well for families, children and groups of adults. We would all return to this vacation home again!

A fantastic week for 12 of us (6 kids and 6 adults). The youngsters enjoyed all the water activities while the adults enjoyed wine tours and golf. We couldn't ask for more!

I recently took part in a girls getaway at the lovely house on Tukilnuit lake! It was the perfect location that was private, quiet and had all the amenities to make for a great time away. Everything we needed was there: towels, all cooking utensils, linens, room for 19, hottub, canoes, kayaks, floaties, the list could go on! I can't wait to return to this home in the future. Lots of great memories had.

Wow. What a beautiful place! The location was nicely situated on the lake nestled between the mountains. It was very picturesque and great for a retreat. We really appreciated the bamboo floors, the gas range, and the enormous butcher block island. The massive dining room table is great! The deck and hot tub are really nice, especially since they are directly on the lakefront. The beach front access was wonderful! We really appreciated the fact there was a canoe and the two kayaks. The provision of life vests was great. Air conditioning was a plus! (we didn’t use it as it wasn’t too hot) We appreciated the amount of toys, kites, books, etc. available for guests. Having so many beds at the house was very beneficial. It's hard to find vacation homes that can house so many people for such a good rate. The beautiful outdoor shower with showerhead to wash the feet was really, really beautiful and handy after spending some time on the water/beach/sand. The house is also situated nearby several wineries and other amenities so it is very convenient by automobile. The town is also nearby so getting groceries is not a problem.

Our stay at the Black Sage Beach House was as perfect as a holiday could get. The private, corner property is quiet with plenty of room to play inside and out. We had plans to tour around a bit but ended up not moving all week. It feels miles away from everything but groceries are 5 minutes away. You don't have to think when you are there - the kayaks, canoe, hot tub, beach toys and out door shower make everything so easy. We will definitely return next summer!

The winery and vineyard lie within one of Canada's most unique ecosystems which includes the northernmost tip of the Sonora Desert. The location (on a southwest-tilting, sandy plateau) near the north end of Osoyoos Lake, is one of the most highly rated grape-growing locations in the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys, and for that matter Canada. In 1993, when Jim Wyse began to replant the vineyards which had been carefully selected for their ability to produce world class, premium quality grapes, the winery was not part of his long term vision. Having recognized the potential of this location, Jim was gratified to see wines made with his grapes gaining immediate recognition. Finally, the decision to build Burrowing Owl Estate Winery%2

Nk'Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course View on map

Owned and operated by the Osoyoos Indian Band, Nk’Mip Canyon expanded from a relaxed nine-hole course to a championship model in 2001. Its local field designers listened to the symmetry of the elevated Land to the north of the original nine and responded with a daring reply – adding 13 expansion holes and renovating 5 existing ones. The result is a striking blend of natural contrasts divided into the desert- dominated Canyon Nine, which delights in throwing the elements at an unwary golfer, and the more laid-back Grove Nine whose verdant fairways and greens welcome a long drive and a satisfying putt. Come play through the spectacular vineyard, sage and stone vistas and watch the sun play tricks on the mountains.

On a hillside overlooking vineyards, sagebrush, and the old gold mining creek that is its namesake, Tinhorn Creek Vineyards has been owned and operated by the Shaunessy and Oldfield families since 1993. The winery is located south of Oliver, BC, at the junction of Highway 97 and Road 7 in the famed Golden Mile wine-growing district. This area, named for its rich history of farming that dates back to the early 1900s, is home to several quality wine producers. Tinhorn Creek sources fruit exclusively from its own vineyards: 150 acres of prime land on two very distinct benches. This land lends to the creation of terroir-driven wines that are classic illustrations of the place they are grown. The 100-acre Diamondback Vineyard on the

Black Hills Estate Winery was established in 1996 and proudly presents wines that have been carefully hand-crafted from vineyard to bottle. The terroir on our 27 acre vineyard on Black Sage Road is some of the most exceptional in Canada. A combination of rugged desert earth, long sunlight hours and cool nights yields the intensely flavoured grapes for which we are renowned. The deep sand and intense heat of this micro-climate enable the growth of exceptional Bordeaux grapes which are carefully hand-picked by our team.
