"El Refugio", The Refuge, is a private three bedroom mountain luxury cabin with a mountain view convenient to all of the amenities. We have a sofa bed in the sun room downstairs and a single bed in the loft for additional sleeping. It has two large decks and a hot tub. The main floor has a great room open to the kitchen, eating area, and sun room/screened porch. The main floor also has a queen bedroom and a bunk bed bedroom with two single beds and full bathroom. The upstairs has a king bedroom with bath and loft with single bed. Downstairs has a large recreation room with big screen TV, sun room with sofa bed, bathroom, and hot tub. The Refuge is great mountain getaway for 6 to 9 people. We supply everthing that you should need from linens, towels, washing machine detergent, paper products like toilet paper, etc. to firewood.
Big Canoe is an 8,500 acre gated community designated as a wildlife sanctuary located in the beautiful north Georgia mountains and hard wood forest. We offer three championship golf courses, 14 tennis courts (six hard, six soft, and two indoors), a swimming lake, beach, three pools (two outdoors and one indoor), a fantastic fitness center, a boating and fishing lake, twenty four plus miles of hiking trails, and access to all the the north Georgia mountains have to offer.

Main Level The main level is exquisitely furnished and wide open. The wall of glass frames the giant mountainous view and the rear deck contains big table and chairs and gas propane grill for the ultimate in mountain top outdoor dining and lounging. The fully equipped kitchen is stocked with appliances and all the utensils you’ll need for a gourmet meal. Even gourmet spices and condiments are stocked for your use. Actual separate dining room area windows all around. The main level bedroom one offers a queen size bed and a large closet. Room two has the kids bunk beds. The main level bathroom features a granite countertop vanity and a combination shower/tub Upstairs The upstairs Master bedroom has a King Size bed, wood blinds and an elegant rustic décor ensemble plus a view that is breathtaking. Bathroom has a glass-enclosed walk-in shower and a unique custom cedar wood walk in closet. Also upstairs is a unique loft peninsula that overlooks the great room and has a magnificent view through the tower picture windows below. This loft has aother twin bed with trundle that converts into a Queen Size bed. Lower Level The lower level entertainment lounge features a big flat screen TV and mini bar refrigerator to keep your refreshments cool. Here you can relax and converse on the huge sectional sofa or walk out to the lower level patio deck and dip into the 6-person therapeutic hot tub overlooking the mountain range. The thick Berber carpet and fireplace adds to the elegance and coziness of this magnificent lounging space. Oh my yet another sleeping area tucked away on the lower level a sleeper sofa with a thick mattress. All the comforts of home plus the relaxed resort feeling all in one. Large capacity washer dryer two car garage and even a doggie dish in the closet. If you have to connect theres even wifi.

Had a wonderful weekend at El Refugio! The house is clean and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need. The house is pet friendly, but very well maintained - no odor, or stains, or hair. Lake with marina, tennis/golf/swimming center, and all other Big Canoe's amenities are close by, but not a walking distance (and you probably don't want to walk on these narrow curvy roads anyway). Dealing with the agent was quick and efficient. Highly recommended vacation destination!
