Easy to find, spacious and much better than a tiny hotel room! It was quite simple to make the booking arrangements with Lora, too. The best feature for me and my husband was the huge hot tub. Fantastic to sit in the tub and look at the beautiful, starry skies. Reasonable rates as well.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I found this cozy lower level apt on VRBO. Was not disappointed. We were very welcomed and accomadated. The 1 br apartment was very clean and new. The location was perfect for us, traveling into Durango then north to Silverton, Euray, etc. Not to mention the beautiful view. The hot tub was surely inviting after hiking and backpacking. Next time we escape the heat of Louisiana and return, our plans are to stay at this place again. Thanks again Lora & Lance !Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

This was my summer escape from the Arizona heat for 5 weeks. It was quiet, tranquil and had stunning views of the valley and mountains. The location on CR 203 allowed me to get on my bike and ride in any direction. My cat was a happy camper watching the pasture animals. The unit was just as described in the listing. It's a short trip to the north City Market (Kroger store) and into town, but has the advantage of being in a rural setting. I appreciated the cleanliness of the unit, the lovely linens and the owner's availability. They provided whatever I needed. There is a strong likelyhood that I will stay there again next summer.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We really enjoyed staying at the apartment...the property is beautifully landscaped, and just being on the land, seeing the horses and enjoying the beautiful view of the rock cliffs made it really enjoyable for us. The apartment has all of the basics...very clean, comfortable, quiet and soooo much nicer than a hotel room! While the pictures are nice, I actually was pleasantly surprised by the property...so, I guess they didn't completely do it justice. I like having my sleeping area separate from my living area, so it felt like we could "spread out" without cluttering up the place. The bed and pillows are really comfortable...we slept very well and felt rested each morning. The kitchen allowed us to make our own coffee in the morning, and eat meals in, if we wanted to. It was conveniently located...close to town, but in the country, which we love. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to others. BTW, we love the Cyprus Cafe in town...Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We enjoyed our time in durango. It snowed while we were here and it was beautiful. We are from California so snow like this is rare. It was nice to come back from a long day of skiing to a nice cozy ome away from home.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We stayed one week in BEAUTIFUL Durango, and loved every minute of it! This nice quiet get away was great for my husband and I and our two daughters. It was very clean and comfortable. The views were spectacular. We just had to walk right outside to enjoy the amazing sites. The train comes by 2-4 times a day, which we dont see where we live so that was a nice site to see. When we come back we would love to stay here again. It was just far enough out of town not to hear the hustle and bustle of the city life but yet it was only 5 short minutes away from downtown Durango. We loved it here and hopt to come back soon!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1993
About the owner: My husband and I (Lance and Lora Mattice) moved to Durango in 1993. We purchased the land and built this house. We chose Durango because of all Durango had to offer. There were so many outdoor activities to choose from, as well as the locals being very welcoming and friendly. It was also a beautiful place to raise children. Are children are now grown and we now have three grandchildren. They also live locally as they have grown to love this town as much as we do. We all love the outdoors and everything Durango has to offer. Apache and Winchester are our 2 horses that have become a part of our family as well! We do short rides with our family and sometimes even 3-5 dayers up the Continental Divide. We like riding our 4-wheelers around the many trails around town, as well as taking a nice hike up to the waterfall. We love to spend time with our family and play around town as much as possible, and we hope to provide a cozy home away from home for you to love Durango too!
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
We didn't decide on a vacation rental till just recently. We built our house and incorporated a grandmother's unit downstairs. It is between 500-600 sq.ft. It has its own private entrance and faces northeast which accesses great views.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
One will enjoy the tremendous views from all angles and the access to a multitude of activities, yet only 5 minutes from the heart of Durango.
