Wonderful stay in La Fortuna/Arenal

Stayed here for four nights over Thanksgiving weekend and had a wonderful "second home" experience. Communication and arrangements were a breeze. House is located in a residential neighborhood removed from the tourist bubble but still very close to town. Had a wonderful time going to the local markets, using the large kitchen and dining table for cooking breakfasts and dinners when we didn't want to go out. Washer and dryer was a great bonus for clothes, and a covered parking spot for those driving. Outside is as great as indoors: Large private yard, patio for birdwatching, grilling, or spotting the occasional monkey. (Even a coconut tree.) The restaurant/bar "El Establo" is nearby for drinks and meeting locals. Good ceviche and chips! This was a wonderful time exploring the Arenal region thanks for our comfortable base. It was very relaxing, beautiful property, and I would book it again anytime through the area. Cheers from Colorado - James...

To this day I am still thinking about the period spent in Costa Rica that changed my way of facing life, what you see in the pictures is really what you will get there without considering the emotions filling your heart while waking up every morning with a Vulcan sight. Property was really clean and confortable both inside (a greta Kitchen, washing machine, dryer and you fill find whatelse you need)and outside with its wonderful garden,it is located in a strategic point,near downtown of La Fortuna, I was in Costa rica for about 10 days and thanks to the owner help who gave me all the info required I travelled from Villa Trentino through Caraibi and Pacifico coast. I have already recommended this property to my export manager who is planning to travel in Costa Rica by the end of January, he will be really satisfied and I really recommend to everyone who wants to spend some days in a Paradise. PURA VIDA!

we (two adults, two children) enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house in La Fortuna. the house was cozy and comfortable for our family of four. the location and the view was perfect. we don't ask for a better place to stay. Pura Vida !

the four night we stayed at Villa Trentino were our favorite of our entire trip ! the house is beautiful and very clean, with wonderful view of the volcano. the pictures of this house that you see on this site can't even begin to describe how beautiful this house really is in person. thank you for making our stay in La Fortuna lovely and memorable.

Two friends and I recently visited La Fortuna and Arenal area and stayed at this wonderful home. We had a great time. The home is beautiful with wonderful views of the volcano and rain forest. There were many birds coming to pearch in the plants by the house. The location is perfect, you are sourrounded whith things to see and do from this site. There were some nice places to eat within walking distance if you do not have your own transportation. We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Villa Trentino and recommended it to anyone looking for a place to stay. If We ever return to La Fortuna We will certainly want to stay here again !

we (two couples) stayed at this house for one week and loved it. the pictures truly show exactly what you get and the price very reasonable. the location was perfect to get to all the activities in La Fortuna and then to have such a nice place to come back to after a day of adventure was great. the garden is filled with all kinds of beautiful trees with birds and even an iguana and a sloth. the rental manager was extremly helpful. very nice, very secluded,very safe. we would stay here again without hesitation.

My wife and I stayed here the first week of june. The house was clean and confortable and is located in a very quiet neighborhoods only 8-10 minutes walk from La Fortuna central park. The view was beautiful. The property maneger, Yessenia, was exceptionally helpful and speaks a very good English. It's a lovely place !

Great place to stay, convenient to town

We stayed here on our trip to the volcano. We spent 8 days in CR and 2 nights were reserved at Villa Trentino. This house is simple and awesome. The entire house was clean and comfortable. When you arrive you go through a gate and the grounds have 2 houses- red and blue. Both are adorable but i think the red is a nightly/weekly rental and the blue had a more long term tenant. The house has both an alarm and a tiny safe so you can feel secure when you are there as well as when you are out on the town or exploring. What we did while there: We went to see the Volcano. The cheapest way to do this is to go to the Arenal Volcano Park and then pass it. Go to the Observatory Lodge and it is 4 bucks per person vs 17. The view there is spectacular and there are about 4 good hikes. We did the Old Lava Flow path which is strenuous but took about 45 min round trip. Also, the hot springs are GREAT! If you are travelling on a budget you can skip the 40 buck resorts. Go to Tabacon Springs and park near the yellow gate beside it. Walk down the path and there is the hot creek for FREE!!!! Saturday has a farmer market at the fair grounds which is just on the way to town. So after doing all these things it was nice to lay in the hammocks of the ranchito on our property. There's a grill and table there and it's lovely for an evening's relaxing. This house has no a/c but each nice was comfortable with a fan and open windows. There aren;t any screens but we did not have any issue with mosquitos. The beds have a net if you choose to use it as well. Yesenia is the caretaker we worked with and she is great. Just like every one in Costa Rica, she is kind and friendly and can answer any questions. Her english is probably better than mine! Lastly each morning I awoke to a BEAUTIFUL view of the Volcano.

We could spend 7 days here in La Fortuna, in Villa Trentino. Everything was completly okay. We found all things, like we saw o n the photos. We were happy to spend our time here and when we will come back to La Fortuna we only want to stay here. Yessenia was very helpfull in everything, we were very happy about her. Everything is very clean. We had a great holiday.

We stayed at Villas Trentino for 5 nights in November 2011 on a family vacation and really loved it. The house is cute and perfect, looks just like in the pictures. It's immaculately clean and has just what you need for a comfortable stay. It's in a very quiet neighborhood but only about a 10 minute walk from downtown La Fortuna and there's also a small supermarket just a couple of blocks away. Yessenia (the rental manager) was extremely helpful and even booked our trip to Eco Glide for us. The house's washer and dryer are also a huge asset: we arrived very muddy and wet from a week in Corcovado so it was great to be able to wash and dry everything right there. It's also fantastic to be able to cook: restaurants in Arenal are not cheap (I would budget $30-$50 per person per day if you eat out for all of your meals) so we saved a lot of money that we could then spend on fun activities in the area! We would definitely stay at Villas Trentino again!

Cute house in La Fortuna

This home is perfect for a couple who want some privacy and all of the essentials for a comfortable stay in a location that is about 2-3 blocks from the market and shops. It did get very hot and humid during our stay in September, but the unit did not have an air conditioner unit. Yessenia, who rented us the place, was an excellent host and guide which became very useful for us since we have never been to this area before. Come prepared for an experience of a life time, because that is what my wife and I got during our stay.

an amazing place

My family and me we stayed at Villa Trentino for three nights last week. The property is unbelievable guys, a very nice and cozy house in the middle of a beautifull tropical garden. We really enjoyed our vacation there, for a lot of reasons. First the house, nice, confortable and very very clean, not a single bugs and you are in the middle of the nature... ( it´s not that easy to satisfize my wife under this point of view, and she was so entusiastic with the place and its cleanes that she pretended to stay an extra night...), then the quiet of the place...unbelievable!!! There´s is a tropical garden fenced off where our children played free and save leaving this way a little moment for my wife and me... We were positively surprised to be that next to the town and its services that we never had the need to move our car and in the house we found everythink we needed, from coffee and teas to species for cooking and laundry detergent, too! So guys, for our experience we definitely feel to recomend this home...and have a good vacation !!!

Was OK, but certianly not our favorite place

We were in Costa Rica for three weeks and stayed in four places. This was our least favorite place, which is unfortunate because it was also the most expensive place we stayed in. I believe this is mostly because La Fortuna is an overpriced and touristy area. So I am not sure how many of the cons are just due to the fact that this is kind of a cheaper place for this area. It was OK. A place to stay and cook dinner. If I were to go to Costa Rica again I just wouldn't stay in La Fortuna. If I had to stay in La Fortuna... I think I might try another place if I could find one that seemed better in my price range. THE PROS: The house was cute, and the pictures accurately portray the house and the views. The kitchen was equipped and there were some additional things that were helpful to have such as laundry detergent. The outdoor space was nice to have in the evenings. Yessenia was helpful in offering advise and flexible in meeting us to check in. Booking was very easy and straightforward. For the area, it seems to be a pretty nice place for a reasonable amount of money. It is also pretty close to La Fortuna. We had a car so I am not sure if it is a reasonable walk. THE CONS: We did not see or hear much wildlife there, except for vultures and lizards, as is in a slightly more populated area. The beds were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. My whole group had to go the the farmacia to get sleeping pills to be able to get a good night's sleep. The sheets were no help, as they seemed to be at least 20-30 years, pilled, and they would not stay on the mattress throughout the night. The place also seemed a little dirty, especially if you were to look up at the ceilings. There was technically hot water in the shower, although it was created by this strange heater connected to the shower head, and the way in which it was installed meant that the water sprayed towards the wall. This meant you had to shower standing right against the wall. There was also technically internet, but it was obtained by a USB device that you could only use on one computer at a time and it was unreliable and slow at best. There is a balcony, but only one bedroom has access to it. There is also cable TV but it was only on one TV which is in the same bedroom that has the balcony access.

Owner response: Hi Lauren, first of all, thank you for your commentary. Thank you for the apreciations to my place, and thank you for the critics, too. I red with attention the last part of your mail, and I had somethink to clarified and somethink to improve in my job. About the shower, I just like to tell that the customers before your arrival in my home they broken the shower and, that was my fault, I could not know about that untill you checked in and tell to Yesenia. Then I do considerate that we repair the problem and that now is working like the mostly showers you can find in Costa Rica. About the matresses, I was a little bit surprised because your is the only complained I ever had in three years. Anyway, I had planed to change the matresses before the next high season, and taking on consideration your commentary I decide that I will buy the ortopedics ones and not any more the regular ones, that are the matresses you had slept in. About the tv, I will also buy another one to put in the secondary room. To close my answer, I will like to spend a word about the ceiling cleaness. I always payed and I' m still paying a person to make the extraodinary and generally cleaness of the house ( like the highest windows, the ceiling, the fans etc.) once each two weeks. Now I will do it weekly. Thanks again Walter

We stayed here for 3 nights in June 2011. The house was located in a quiet neighborhood. The gardens were beautiful and we did have a great view of Arenal. The house had everything a person would need. The washer and dryer were very much appreciated. The house was also nicely decorated. It did not rain while we were there so the heat was quite oppressive. The house had so many windows that it was hard to escape the heat. There were a couple portable fans that we moved around depending on where we were. For some reason the mosquitoes love the Americans and we couldn't leave windows open. If only there had been screens in the bedrooms or mosquito netting on the beds then we could have given it an excellent score. Perhaps if it would have rained and cooled things off it might have been different too. Yessenia was very helpful and accommodating. She booked our Ecoglide trip for us which was one of the highlights for our 11 year old son. We also enjoyed the Waterfall and the hot springs

This house was absolutely gorgeous! We loved our stay here! Everything we needed was provided from coffee and spices to laundry detergent. The view was beautiful. The garden surrounding the house was so pretty and tranquil. We could not have asked for a better place to stay! Thanks Yessinia! You are the best! Pura Vida!

My husband and I spent 4 nights in this property and we loved it. It is tastefully decorated, spacious and comfortable. The photos are totally accurate. It is on a huge piece of property, beautifully landscaped with trees and flowers. We just kicked back in the hammocks and enjoyed being outdoors all day in a gorgeous and private estate. It was very clean and well maintained and the property manager was exceptionally helpful and nice and she also speaks excellent English and lives around the corner, so if you need anything, she is nearby. A couple things that are on the listing however are not completely accurate, though it didn't impact our enjoyment of our stay there. 1) It is not a 2 minute walk to the park in town, it is more like 12-15 minutes depending on your walking speed. 2) There is no private hot tub, there is no queen bed, there is no video or music library. There is hot shower, double bed, video and dvd player. 3) I would not swim in the river nearby. Doesn't look either clean or safe. But as I said, these were very minor points and did not interfere with our enjoyment of the house and grounds at all. It's a lovely place!
