Canandaigua cottage description
Enjoy the most magnificent sunsets from the stone porch of our family’s cottage.
We have owned this property for over 100 years. This beautiful lake front cottage was built by my grandfather in 1946 and named Sequoia Lodge. In 1996 my father expanded, updated, and remodeled the property adding a huge family/dining room and new kitchen.
The cottage is situated on a level lot that leads to over 100’ of unsurpassed views and lake frontage. The gradual slope of the beach makes swimming and water play ideal for children and adults alike. The setting is magnificent with a large level grass area shaded by trees and a permanent dock for you to dock your boat, swim, fish or simply watch the sun go down.
The Sequoia Lodge interior is appointed with warm, golden wood – on walls, floors, and ceilings and natural stone fireplaces (one with a wood burning stove insert).
The heart of any vacation house is the kitchen. The remodeled kitchen has a four burner stove, full refrigerator, all cooking equipment and ample dishes and plates for a large gathering. The table is a perfect place for a romantic dinner for two or for the entire family to gather for conversations or the traditional card and board games.
The home has been remodeled to offer modern comforts without sacrificing the natural charm and includes: a bright, spacious kitchen with large breakfast table, a lakefront living room with oversized furniture, stone fireplaces, a huge family/dining room, and a stone porch overlooking the lake.
The master bedroom and second bedroom have lake views. The third and fourth bedrooms open to trees and garden. There are two full baths and a luxurious walk-in shower room.
Canandaigua lake is a magical place all year round. You’ll want to return annually to bathe in these clear waters, watch the dramatic sunsets, and slow down to “lake time”.
Of course, if you love great music - just down the road is the new CMAC performing arts center offering world class concerts all summer. And if you enjoy fine wine – the lake wine tours are minutes away.

About the owner: Hello, I'm Devi Bliss. Along with my brother Michael and sister Michele, I'm the fourth generation to enjoy this lakefront property. Our great grandfather built a two-story white cottage at the foot of the lake at the beginning of the 20th century. Memories of long childhood summers at the Lake - are ever-sweet. There's something unrivaled about the soft waters of Lake Canandaigua. I've been returning every summer for over 50 years. I know that you will feel the magic of this place when you come.
Why the Owner Chose Canandaigua:
This property has been in the family for four generations. We are happy to share it with others who appreciate beauty, family, and the wonderful lake.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
This is a place to let go of tensions. The waters of Lake Canandaigua dissolve stress. The sounds of the wind in the huge weeping willows and the song of the birds soothe the soul. We love to stroll up the gravel road on a warm evening. It's a short 10 minute walk to the local fish restaurant, a fully stocked convenience store with homemade pizza and delicious ice cream. (Our neighbors like to walk up for their morning coffee - and doughnut.) It's a safe road for kids to bike on, as well. When our boys were young, a ride to 'the candy store' was a daily ritual. This is a special spot on the lake.
