Traditional Cabin with Views, Roomy, Lots of Deck space, Great In town Location
Within city limits for easy access to all Helen has to offer, walking distance for shopping, dining, bars, tubing, water park, go-carts, horse rides, hiking, biking, kayaking, mountain roads, views etc. Walk to town and catch a cab back to drive up the hill with minimal fee if you like. At the same time, this cabin offers private and secluded at the end of the road location with plenty of parking space, bring your favorite toy on a trailer to enjoy mountain roads or clear lakes in the area if you like.
Second level has great traditional cabin feel with exposed beams in the ceiling, tongue and groove walls in dining area and wooden and stone tile floors along with big stone fireplace. These combined with rustic dining set, comfortable sofas, 42" HDTV and lots of windows letting the light in make this level great for get togethers. The deck outside has very nice and private Leisure Bay hot tub, big 7'-9" square which seats 8, has lots of jets and changing colors for those dark nights. Deck wraps the house and is 12' wide, has nice dining set and big Char-Grill Duo grill with one side propane gas and one side charcoal along with sideburner. There is also good set of utensils to cook great steak from local grocery store.
Terrace level has spacious game room with carpeted floors and special steel ceilings along two private bedrooms which have closets and queen size beds. The game room has pool table, nice sofas, one recliner and the other turns into queen size bed, and of course TV and DVD player.
The terrace level doors open outside and there is a simple firepit for roasting those marshmellows under stars.
The upper level is dedicated to master bedroom, bath and private balcony. The bedroom floor is covered with carpet and huge bathroom has tiles while walls are tongue in groove type wood panels. There is massive king size log bed, TV, closet with hangers for clothes and a nightstand. On balcony there are two log style rocking chairs to enjoy the view.
The Bavarian Pit Stop Cabin is suitable for families with kids, groups of friends, motorcycle and trailer friendly. The cabin has three stories with stairs, although the staircases are straight and extra wide, it still has limited handicap accessibility to the levels with bedrooms. Being on top of the mountain close to the city it has very good cell phone service.
*** See the changing winter mountain scenery from the best seat in town: from the hot tub or by wood burning fireplace***

We enjoyed our stay at the Bavarian Pit Stop. Close in to Helen yet far enough and high enough away to have great views and very quite. We were on a 6-man fishing trip and the cabin accomodated everyone, one guy to a bed with one exception that slept on a sofa.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed the cabin and the location. Heikki

We had a lovely visit to Helen. The cabin is cozy -- we especially enjoyed the fireplace & firepit! We had a surpricingly delicious meal at "Survivor's" when everythingelse was closed. The hot tub was great. Thanks for a great trip!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The Bavarian Pit Stop was a cozy little cabin that our little family did thoroughly enjoy. The pictures online are a very accurate portrayal of the property. The cabin was even decorated for Christmas and the tree was lit when we arrived which made our visit even more enjoyable. (We were traveling with our 7 month old and he enjoyed the lit tree and the fire in the fireplace) The hot tub was AMAZING!!! And the little vendor as you make the turn to go up to the property had a great supply of firewood and boiled peanuts! There were very few cons about the property and all were things that could easily be remedied. 1-The tub upstairs needs some attention. When we turned on the jets to create "bubbles" for our little one the tub immediately started filling with little bits of dirt and brown grit. Gross! Upon inspection we found that each of the jets were all gunky and clogged with filth and were in need of a good scrub and disinfecting. We just used the shower for the rest of the trip. Water pressure upstairs is weak, but better downstairs. 2-It may be a good idea to stock the place with a few new pans for cooking. It was cold and rainy for the latter part of our trip so we decided to just cook the last two days and the pans were awful. The non-stick pan had no "non-stick" surface left. And in cleaning another pan I managed to cut myself on the bottom of it---random sharp piece of jagged metal. Again, easy fix...or just bring your own. 3-The "short walk" to Helen would be for those prepared to hike a good little while---not a stroller friendly walk at all. Oh and adding a hand rail on the opposite side of the stairs leading upstairs might be something to consider. While the garland around the rail was beautiful, it did make it difficult to hold onto the rail when going upstairs; which made carrying our little one up and down the stairs a little more challenging. All-in-all we enjoyed our time at the cabin and are already in talks about scheduling another trip for Spring/Summer. We would certainly recommend the cabin to friends and family!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your honest review and very good insights how to make this the best cabin available in the area. The tub upstairs will be througly cleaned and tested. I am sorry for the inconvenience and it will not be a problem in the future. The cabin has been in good use and while many of the wear items has been replaced or duplicated, it appears that the good set of pans was missing from this visit. To fix this I have new set of pots and pans already for the next guest. Yes the cabin is over 300' above the main street and while it is easy to walk down, sometimes cab ride is fine coming back up.

What a pleasant stay we had at this lovely home. The location is perfect, perched high above Helen but a quick ride into town. The house is clean, has all the amenities you need and very private. The view from hot tub or from private balcony off master bedroom is heavenly. I honestly could just sit on the balcony rocking chair and take in that view for hours! We definitely plan on becoming regular visitors! The Johnson's Gainesville, GADid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Thank you for having us! Love the huge deck and fabulous location! The kids adored Babyland General, which was our excuse for the trip up from Atlanta, as a second-birthday celebration. We also (the adults, anyway) enjoyed the shops in Sautee. Cant wait to spend today exploring the main drag in Helen. "I like everything in this house" -Jack (4)Did you find this review helpful? We had a great few days in your wonderfully secluded cabin. The board games were a great touch,UNO attack was special hit with the kids (BTW, you have a new set of batteries in the game :) ). Just a little feedback, drapes on the master bedroom windows would allow for some nice, lazy mornings. Would definetly consider returning some time in the future. It had all the amenities of home! Thanks againDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: We appreciate nature and enjoy exploring it in many ways individually and as a family. Getting away from crowds and beaten path is important for us, sometimes in peace and quiet, sometimes just looking for change in pace.
Why the Owner Chose Helen:
After riding and driving in these mountain roads for years, we finally jumped in and bought a "base" from Helen. Cabin and location has turned out to be better than we ever dared to expect, easy and quick access from Atlanta area, a true "gateway to mountains" for us.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
One can relax in ones own privacy and still have all services available if wanted.
