Why the Owner Chose SalemI chose to make a vacation rental out of this property because it is right next to my bed and breakfast.
The Unique Benefits at this HouseBy staying at the John Edwards Vacation Rental you will enjoy being right in downtown Salem. It is a first floor unit that overlooks a beautiful cottage garden. Even though you are right in downtown Salem, when you are in the garden you would never know it.
Salem shipwright Eleazer Gedney built the earliest portion of the Gedney House in 1665. Originally, the house was an asymmetrical composition consisting of two rooms on the first floor, a single chamber above, and an attic with a front-facing gable. Significant renovations to the structure in 1712 and 1800 resulted in dramatic changes to the house's appearance. Owner's Map of Salem
Hi, My name is Peg Camarda. I am of 100 percent Sicilian decent. That may answer the question as to why do all of my hobbies turn into businesses? Many immigrants started their own businesses and had a very good work ethic. Well, my Dad was the son of a Sicilian immigrant. He did work very hard. BUT, my Dad also LOVED horse racing. He was an intense person and had fun at whatever he did. I learned from my Dad that if you are going to have to work your whole life it might as well be doing something that you enjoy. So as I got older, any hobby that I had would somehow turn into a business. Well, my dad's favorite saying was Every Day's A Holiday! and thank God he lived his life like that because he passed away at the young age of 56. I love my life, work hard at all the things I enjoy doing. When my grown children left home I started a bed and breakfast in our family home, and eventually bought the house next door and now have started a vacation rental when I am not there. In summing up, a man stayed at my bed and breakfast once and as I was sitting at the breakfast table, I was kind of thinking and talking out loud, as I was telling him the different things that I do. I said, I don't know how I became such a workaholic. He said, Do you enjoy all the things that you do? I said Yes! He said, I don't call that work. I call those Hors D'ouvres! I loved it!

My husband and I rented this property for 3 months during the winter to be near a family member who is ill. We feel grateful that we found Peg and Frank and this rental at this time in our lives. The warmth and helpfulness of the owners and all employees creates a sense of friendliness and welcome. Some qualities are hard to measure. We comment frequently on how positive the space feels to be in. We feel comfortable and at home in this space. The beds are great. This kitchen is easy to work in and the appliances good. Peg and Frank and everyone who work for them are responsive if any problem presents itself which only happened as a result of intense winter weather. There is a also a feeling of privacy and being in your own space. The location is perfect as it is so close to town. It was hard to leave. We look forward to the next opportunity to return. We definitely recommend this rental.
Recommended for:People with disabilities, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
