Jay Peak Slopeside Condo Ski in and Ski Out
- Minimum stay:Contact owner
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Our condo is one of the Slopeside condos at Jay which is right on the Queen's Highway trail, the closet group of condos to the Tram Haus Main Lodge. It is just a few feet from the trail for simple ski in/ski out access directly down to the lodge and the main lifts on the mountain, the Tram, the Metro and the Flyer. Its also a short couple of minutes walk from the Ice Haus indoor ice rink, the new Pump House waterpark and the Tower Bar, Foundry or Drink bars/restaurants if apres ski goes a little longer than planned!
The condo has 2 bedrooms. One with a queen size bed and one with a double bed and a bunk bed, so it sleeps 6 in beds, and 7 if you include the couch which we have affectionately named 'The Green Monster' due to its capacity to comfortably seat a large number of people. The condo is on the second story so the front of the condo faces down to the lodge and has views from the bedrooms down the valley to the mountains in the distance. The rear has a deck that faces the Queen's Highway trail so you can watch all the skiers go by from the living room/kitchen area.
We have been upgrading the condo from when we purchased a few years ago (brand new bathroom this past summer). We are doing the upgrades ourselves and putting time and care into it as we hope to use the place as much as we rent it!

The description of the condo is exactly as described...beds were very comfortable...condo well maintained/clean & suited our needs. Ski out--short few steps onto Queens Highway...ski in-- if snow on walkway, you can ski right to the front door!! Walking distance to indoor water park, ice rink & tram base. Shuttle service that picks up/drops off to/from base for those that do not want to walk/drive. Owners were very helpful & responsive to any questions we had. Conditions were awesome. I would definitely recommend this condo to friends/family. Thanks again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is an excellent truly ski-in ski-out condo. Parking is very easy to get to, there is always space available (we were up there during a big storm last year and things were perfectly fine), you have to walk a few stairs to the condo but nothing significant. Condo is in great shape, kitchen and family area face the outside trail, so you get a fantastic view of people skiing down the mountain. It takes you no more than 20 steps to get to the trail and ski downhill to the lifts. That is nice when dealing with the best snow in the East. With a family of 5, this location cannot be beat because it allows everyone to move at their own pace, take a break in the condo if needed, lunch at different times, etc. Very flexible for each one, making a perfect outcome vacation where everyone gets their own way. All the outstanding recent additions to Jay Peak at are walking distance - less than 5 minutes. A big plus, because there is a ton to do now at the base. Owners are very professional, everything was done remotely without a hassle. They had a lady managing their property locally, and even when I forgot a sweatshirt there, she found it and was kind enough to send it back home.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: We are Damien, Janet and Dave. Damien and Janet are an Australian/Canadian couple who currently moved from Boston to Burlington, VT and are avid snowboarders. Dave (Janet's brother) also recently moved from Ontario to Burlington, VT and plans on reviving his love for skiing from when he was a younger lad.
Why the Owner Chose Jay:
Shortly after Damien and Janet met in Boston, Janet temporarily moved back to Ontario and Jay was the half way meeting point for a year. During that year, a lot of time was spent snowboarding at Jay and exploring the surrounding area. During that time many memories were created in the Jay area. The decision to purchase the condo along with Dave, was made easy by the fact that it is centrally located between Boston and Ottawa. Damien and Janet had their first child in January 2011, are expecting their second in December 2012 and plan to 'Raise 'em Jay'!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
The fact that the condo is mere feet from the Queen's Highway trail makes it easy to make first tracks without having to organize your entire group into the car and to the mountain. It is also super convenient to ski into the condo for lunch and save your cash for apres ski down at the Tower Bar! Spring, summer and fall are also great times to be up at Jay for golfing, hiking, mountain biking, and leaf peeping. The condo is centrally located for activities other than skiing as well. The new Waterpark is a couple minutes away, The Ice Haus (new ice rink) is a 3 minute walk. The Tram Haus (main lodge, spa, gym, Tower Bar, Alice's Table) is a 5 minute walk. The new Clubhouse (golfing/cross country skiing) is less than ten minutes walk away. The cosy town of Jay is about 8 mins drive down the road to rent a snowmobile, for a great meal or to shoot some pool at the Jay Village Inn, or to listen to live music at Dakotas Bar at the Cedarwoods Resort across the road.
In the other direction from the condo the town of Montgomery has some great mountain bike trails in the warmer months of the year and is also the 'Covered Bridge Capital of Vermont'! Art gallery, coffee and antique shops and the sleepy Vermont village feel makes it a great place to visit and unwind.
