Authentic D.C. Experience
Authentic D.C. Experience
Our group of 9 (4 adults, 5 kids) had a terrific experience at this lovely home. The location was ideal, as it was only a 5 minute walk from the Metro station and lots of restaurants, drug stores, etc. The neighborhood was very clean and safe. We walked to dinner each night (including a 1.5 mile trek to Dupont Circle one night) and never once felt uncomfortable. We had 2 rental cars and didn't have any problems finding street parking nearby (although we were usually parked by early evening - it might be different if you were parking late at night). The house itself was well maintained, and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of hot water, towels, dishes, etc. The 4 bedrooms were plenty large enough, and the 2 bathrooms were adequate -- each had a bathtub and shower. The kitchen was very nice, and the living room/dining room was plenty spacious for all of us to hang out in the morning and evening. The unit takes up the top 2 floors of a 3-story townhouse, and so you have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the townhouse, and then another flight of stairs to get up to the second story. We had to be careful to make sure our little ones didn't get near the stairs, but that was fine once we got used to it. Eva was extraordinarily responsive to e-mails, and she even got 2 pack n' plays for us and had them waiting in the townhouse for us on our arrival. There were plenty of toys for the little kids (ages 1, 2, 4, and 5) to play with, which was nice that we didn't need to bring any of that stuff with us to D.C. We really felt like we had an authentic D.C. experience as compared to staying in a hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

Owner response: Dear Blake, thank you for staying in my apt! Glad you enjoyed your stay. Warm greetings, Eva
Great place. Wonderful location. Perfectly appointed. The owner really has set up this place to be like home and we felt very welcome. The neighborhood is great with lots of shops and restaurants within a 5 minute walk.

The place was very clean and kitchen upgrades were really nice, we had 3 adults and 6 teens. Eva was very responsive and nice to work with through-out the process. We did have a few concerns including several smoke detectors not connected and a "brown out" (loss of most electric power) on the last night we were in the house which resulted in some very uncomfortable time (we ended up heading to a hotel for the last night as a long drive for some was planned the next day). Final comment is that we had several nights where we came home from DC late evening (after 9pm or 10pm) with kids, and honestly the walk from the metro was a bit unnerving for us even though we had no issues or problems of any kind. Lots of stuff was within walking distance, store, pharmacy etc... we were just a bit concerned about those walks after dark.

Excellent "Home Base" for Touring DC
Excellent "Home Base" for Touring DC
Love it! Location great for touring the DC area. Under a half mile to metro station. Roomy house with lots of child friendly features. Our 3 year old granddaughter loved the Melissa & Doug toys and the space to move around. With 5 adults and 1 child, had lots of room. Great decor and especially loved the kitchen with the Viking appliances and wonderful selection of cooking gear as we cooked virtually every meal we had while in DC (lots of food sensitivities in our group!) The property was spotlessly clean and well-equipped, all the way down to shampoo and bath gel! If you need to cook, like we did, highly recommend the Whole Foods market at Foggy Bottom metro station. Basically just across the street from the station, so easy to purchase and transport food, and also a great food bar with healthy choices. I highly recommend this property if you are touring DC with your family!

Property was as expected. Spacious, clean and up to date. All the essentials of a house were included. Would highly recommend to a wide range of guests. In walking distance of metro. Owner was very helpful. Quick to answer emails and helped with any questions we had. Will be returning!

My husband and I and our two grandchildren stayed in this very comfortable, beautiful town home for a week. We could walk to the metro and many restaurants. Eva made our stay a pleasure by suggesting places to see, things to do and where to eat. This is a great place for a large family because it provides all the amenities in a great city like DC, and yet you can come home and relax in a quite neighborhood setting. Thanks Eva

I spent 4 nights at the apartment during the first week of March and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's in a great location...you can walk to everything in DC. I used it as a base for checking out the entire DC area for a possible move and it was perfect. The condo was furnished with everything you could need for a stay. All sorts of kitchen equipment, washer-dryer, bathroom necessities....I really can't think of anything that was missing. It's a great place to stay for days or a month. Eva or John always answered emails promptly and there were no problems at all. A great stay!

Nice WeekGuest comment entered by owner
Nice week for the whole family in Columbia Heights. Girard St is a very quiet place from where we have visited many Washington museums and memorials. Thanks Eva for your confidence in opening your home. Best regards from France Etienne B. and family

This was my first rental experience through VRBO and I am nothing but completely satisfied! First, the place is amazing! It is adorably decorated and you can feel right at home- we never expected to stay in the house as much as we did, but because we felt so comfortable, we lounged around much more than excepted! The linens and towels were plenty, tons of extra blankets and everything! The kitchen was stocked with all the items we needed- all the appliances were so nice, plenty of dishes! We were a group of 7 woman and felt safe the entire weekend, the double lock system was a nice reassurance! Eva was so easy to communicate with- always responded to all my emails and phone calls! She is so sweet! I would rent this place again in a heart beat, honestly, I would live in it! Easy access to the metro, and plenty of parking since we had a car! I could go on for days, but basically have no fears, this place will be the best rental choice you could make!

Great Place for Group of 8!
Great Place for Group of 8!
A great week of sightseeing, museums and excellent dining!. There were 2 families of 4 -(4 adults 4 kids/ 3 teenagers one 10yr) in our group. The townhome was spacious and very well laid out. We all had plenty of space and everything worked beautifully in the townhome. We have stayed in many vrbo rentals and this was the first where the actual home looked betted in person than in the pictures. We had the pleasure of meeting Eva (thanks for your wonderful hospitality!) and thorougly enjoyed the rental experience with her as well as our stay. One family drove to DC and we ended up never moving the car. Metro is close - and we discovered Uber Car - and excellent service that was only slightly more expensive than a cab - less expensive for us since we usually only had to order one Uber car. Download the app and a car picks you up - knows your location from your phone. As others have mentioned the neighborhood is up and coming and we did use Uber Car at night and the Metro by day. It was a wonderful experience - even our teenagers were happy! Thanks again Eva!

About the owner: Hi, originally from Prague, Czech Republic, Washington DC has become my second home twelve years ago when I came to study at Georgetown University. I live in this wonderful city with my two boys Alexander and Christopher, only few blocks from the rental property. We spend every weekend at a museum (Air and Space is the favorite), hiking through Rock Creek Park or on a fifty year old carousel in front of the Smithsonian Gardens and we hope that all our guests enjoy this vibrant city as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Columbia Heights:
As a single mom I need to provide for my two boys. I love to travel and so do my kids. Most of the time I travel out of DC and the situation helped me see that just as I love to leave the city and to explore other places, there are people who come to visit DC to spend time with their families. My two boys, my family, are the best critics of any place, as no furnishings are safe from their play and no vase is sacred to them. Our places are luxurious but ready to be used. I understand what most travelers need to feel comfortable since I have traveled extensively around the world to Africa, South and Central America, Asia and Europe . Please come and share your vacation time in our home. I promise that we will do our best to make you feel comfortable. This is the reason I bought my rental property.
