Shooting Star is a private home on .4 acres on a beach of sandy white sand and interesting rock coral that is only a few steps from the large wrap-around porch. Enjoy the beautiful ocean view from your secluded 150 foot beach with colorful coral to explore in calm clear blue water less than 30 feet away from the shoreline.
The home itself has two bedrooms with king beds, two bathrooms, a bonus sleeper sofa in the living room, and a seating area in the sun room for plenty of room to spread out.
The kitchen has been completely renovated and is fully equipped with lots of new dishes and glassware and everything you will need to cook a great meal as your guest are seated at the cozy kitchen island. It includes a washer/dryer that is hidden away behind cabinet doors.
The yard is well maintained with lots of beautiful island flora and lovely palm trees that offer some very nice shade from the afternoon sun. There is also a great hammock to just chill out and enjoy the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks.
The house is also very close to the rain forest for hiking and exploring the natural beauty of the island. A local dive shop is only 1/3 mile away. They have daily trips and night dives that you can arrange at N2 the Blue. If you just want to snorkel, you do not have to look any further than your own front yard.
We are currently booking guests through August 2013 only.

I booked after reading all the reviews. After my stay I can say they were 100% accurate. This is a well maintained, well equipted vacation home. Chuck is helpful and responsive. My wife and I enjoyed 7 days of sunshine and beautiful sunsets. The covered porch made relaxing easy and comfortable. There are three beach bars that are walkable. The town is quiet compared to most And that is what we were looking for. To eat we liked the deli, beach side, rhythms, and Pollys. Sitting on the beach I actually did see 4 shooting stars so well named. Our stay at the Shooting Star...In the spring of 2012 I stated looking for a place for my husband and I to stay in St. Croix, we wanted to stay on the Frederiksted side of the island, the other times we stayed on the east side. The next thing I know I am looking for a place for 4 of us. Two other members of my husbands family wanted to join us...I was now looking for a place for four, that's when I came upon the Shooting Star..and now I am glad...it was perfect. All the reviews that I read on line are all true, from the beautiful house to the wonderful beach to all the shops and restaurants in walking distance..if you want you can walk to town while you're looking for ocean treasurers and believe me they are there for the finding. This has been my best St.Croix vacation yet. if you want to relax, enjoy all the beautiful SUNSETS and swim in some of the clearest waters in the world...Start at the Shooting Star... Thank you Chuck and Chris for the wonderful stay:) The Rogers Family Gordonsville VARecommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Great Stay over New Years!

We stayed at this lovely beachfront home for one week over New Years. The house has the perfect layout for two couples or for families with kids as the 2 bedrooms are separated and therefore everyone has their privacy. The house is well equipped with everything you need for cooking, swimming, relaxing, grilling and watching TV. The house was spotless and is well taken care of by the owners. We never had any issues with hot water or electricity and everything was in good working order. The location is perfect! Having never been to St. Croix, we were very pleased with our choice to stay on the West End of the island. Fredricksted is a lovely town and is an easy walk from the house. Definitely rent a car so you can explore the rest of the island, though! Rhythm's at Rainbow Beach is about a 3-5 minute walk from the house, as well. The beaches on the west side of the island are gorgeous and we thoroughly enjoyed swimming and snorkeling right off the private sandy beach directly in front of the house. The entire week, we saw only 2 or 3 other people on the beach other than ourselves. Not to mention that you get the best sunset views from the huge wraparound patio. The owner was super friendly and helpful. He provided us with plenty of information about the island and made several recommendations which were all spot-on. Definitely drive to Cane Bay to eat at Rowdy Joes and at Eat @ Cane Bay. The food was fantastic at both. He also recommended a daysail to Buck Island with Llewellyn Westerman and that is a must-do! Probably our favorite excursion of the whole trip. If you're thinking of renting this house -- just do it while you still can! We would come back in a heartbeat!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Very private beach! We felt very safe and comfortable in this well kept very clean home. Chuck and Chris made it their mission to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The day we arrived hurricane Sandy was winding up to the west so we had only one day that we could enjoy the beach in front of The Shooting Star but Chuck had wonderful suggestions on other beaches to check out on the east side of the island which were calm. It amazed me that the storm could cause 6 to 8 ft surf on one side of the island and at the same time on the east side of the island we found Cane bay and Cramer beach where there was virtually no surf at all! We can not wait to return to the Shooting Star. We started planning our next trip the day we arrived! Thank You Chuck and Chris for sharing your home with us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We've rented a lot of places over the years. None have been so well thought out and paid so much attention to detail. Anytime we needed something, we found it. We have trained ourselves to not be disappointed upon first arrival, because usually the pictures look way better than the real thing. Not so with Shooting Star - pictures did not do it justice. We had a car and explored the island, but we were also more than happy to swim/snorkel out front or hang on the porch with the island's best views. It was also nice to be able to walk to town or a local restaurant/bar. Only saw one person walked on "our" beach the whole week (the day a cruise ship was in), so the house became our oasis. We tend to not revisit a place, since we enjoy exploring. We may have to break our own rule for Shooting Star.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Shooting Star lived up to our expectations and then some. We are a couple (he is 40 something, she is 30 something) who planned a trip to St Croix to scope out some real estate property for retirement. Sunset view is on the top of our retirement property features list, so we knew that we wanted a place on the west end of St Croix as a base from which to do some island exploration. We also knew that we did not want to be cooped up inside a hotel room for a week. This beautiful location fit the bill perfectly. Our trip was not all business and Shooting Star was close enough to the most beautiful beaches on the island for some daytime fun in the sun in addition to being minutes away (a few within waking distance) from some of the best sunset dining we've experienced in a long time. Shooting Star was the perfect little beach house with everything necessary to make your island stay as comfortable as home. We hope to soon return and bring along friends.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The pictures of Shooting Star do not do it or the property justice. The house is lovely, the location is excellent, and the beach is RIGHT THERE! And what a nice beach it is. Sandy enough to make entry into the water easy, yet with enough coral growth in the area to make the snorkling right in front of the house interesting. (Enter the water, swim out a bit to gain some depth, then drift toward the right for lots of fish and other sea life.) The kitchen is more than adequate for even gourmet cooking, and well stocked with the appropriate pots and pans. The beds are large and comfortable; the best of the four houses we've had stayed in so far. Plenty of ceiling fans to keep the house cool and the air flowing. The wrap around porch is just amazing and is where you will spend most of your time while at the house. The view is hard to beat. We highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a magical week (or two) on St. Croix.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

For context, we are a baby boomer couple working in executive jobs who've traveled for decades to numerous Caribbean and Bahamian islands as well as Europe. We seek houses in beautiful settings that provide privacy as well as easy access to cafes and sites. Shooting Star is a home run. We had plenty of indoor room for padding around, but spent most of our time lounging on the covered, sea-view gallery or swinging in the shaded hammock. We had many plans for site-seeing and exploring -- and we did accomplish some -- but kept choosing to loll about, read, nap, swim off of the beach and simply gaze at the sea (the pelicans, occasional sailboats and sunsets needed lots of supervision). However, if you're more energetic, St. Croix offers snorkeling, diving, paddle boarding, kayaking, jet skiing, hiking, horseback riding, clubbing, touring and shopping. The mature garden provides lots of visual privacy as well as lush, tropical greens and magentas. The house has air conditioning, but the slight breeze off of the sea and ceiling fans kept it perfectly comfortable. Remarkably, even though Frederiksted is on the western and lee side of St. Croix, we did not encounter mosquitoes or no-see-'ums. We appreciated the extremely comfortable bed, full kitchen, and fast wireless internet access (one of us feels life is not worth living without the New York Times) . The owners provided terrific information about the house, its systems, where to dine, grocery shop and island sites, and were very responsive to our few emailed questions. This was a lovely, relaxing vacation on a beautiful island in a very comfortable and private beachfront house in a lovely setting.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Four of us stayed here for a week in late January and early February, 2012. The house was spacious and comfortable, and the private beach was a treat. There is decent snorkeling very close to the house, and the sunsets are beautiful. The owner had a lot of helpful recommendations for restaurants and other services and activities. We also stayed in and cooked dinner ourselves a few times in the well-stocked kitchen, enjoying our meal and wine on the large porch overlooking the ocean. The yard is thoughtfully landscaped, and the location is great. We had a terrific week!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Here's a house on the beach, but walkable to Fredericksted town. So you've got the best of both worlds...the idyllic getaway with ocean views and a beach just outside the door, plus the fun and excitement of being able to bop in for a iced coffee, go shopping or get a yummy breakfast without getting in your car. The house is so lovely, and a great renovation. We felt so lucky to be able to stay there. Great for kids...our 4 year old loved it. We had the best time. Will definitely rent it again. Thanks so much!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
