We stayed in casa 2 for over a year and moved to casa 4 from January 2012 to August 2012. Owners, David and Rebecca, were very accommodating to all of our needs and provided a very friendly atmosphere. The large pool is the best in Los Barriles. Having drinks and diner on the roof-top watching the sunset and the ocean was a joy. The property gave us the best of both worlds – close proximity to the beach in a private and tranquil surrounding. The casa was roomy and the decorative tiles accented the doorways and bathrooms. The Mexican style townhome is the perfect place to relax and while away your days lounging around the pool or enjoying your patio in the secure and private setting. If we didn’t have to go back to the U.S., we would still be there. This is one of the best kept secrets in Los Barriles!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

I stayed in Casita #1 for a week back in June and easily had my best Baja trip in 10+ years. If you're looking for a place to sit around a pool with a couple hundred other people from the States--this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for a quiet, tranquil and private place to stay--you can't go wrong. Breakfast on your private patio, days lounging at the pool, sunsets and margaritas on the rooftop lanai The casita is spacious, has nice amenities, the beds are comfortable, all the household items are there, the air conditioning is quiet and works well, (a rarity in Baja), and the pool is an oasis of privacy and tranquility. Los Barilles is a cute little resort town and about a 2 minute drive, (20 minute walk). There are several good restaurants in town and lots of shops. The beaches are a short walk. The owner Dave was very helpful with tips about town, restaurants, sights, etc. He even helped us out when we decided to do a quad ride and fishing trip. He's lived there for years and knows the place like the back of his hand. He'll have more suggestions of things to do than you'll have time or energy. We'll be back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

About the owner: After 20 years of traveling worldwide, we found Los Barriles. Because the Sea of Cortez is calm much of the time, this area provides us with the most options of things to do. Avid fishermen, 'we only go for fish bigger than us.' The beautiful and still untouched white sand beaches are where I run my Australian Shepherd, during the summer entirely alone on miles of beach. We have lived here year-round for 8 years, and are still lovin' it!
Why the Owner Chose Los Barriles:
AMENITIES!!! We built this 4-plex with an eye to maximizing the benefits of a property. Everything about this property was thought out thoroughly and intentionally. Protected from winter North winds, private, tranquil, close to town, and ocean/mountain views are spectacular. Huge covered pool and patios: In the summertime, is possibly the only usable pool in Los Barriles, in that it is not too hot in the summer because we can regulate the temperature with our cover (most pools are in excess of 82 degrees and uncomfortable for swimming). The outdoor lighting and professional landscaping truly gives the pool, entertaining areas and total property the resort feel, with the privacy of a home rental.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Waking up and walking out onto your breakfast patio, where I enjoy a cup of coffee and bird-watch. If it gets warm, I am literally steps into the pool, where I do morning laps or play with the kids. My guests usually stay in bed, where they are lounging in Air Conditioning until they feel like joining me in the pool. The kitchen is large and open allowing many people to be cooking or prepping for dinner. The upstairs entertaining patio is where we spend our evenings, looking at the Sea of Cortez while we grill Ahi Tuna caught that day.
