Gorgeous place! Sparkling clean, modern, well-maintained, great service, superb ocean and beach and mountain views. Feels very private and rural and quiet, but easy access to San Francisco (took us only 10-15 minutes to many attractions in SF), close to the airport as well (just over 15 minutes). We had a big group (14 of us) and house was plenty big enough, two large gathering areas big enough for everyone, one on each end of the house. Very responsive owner as well. Fantastic for family reunions. Overall wonderful experience. We just confirmed our reservation for a return visit in the summer.

My son is currently serving in Afghanistan and we spent his recent time stateside in this lovely home. It was the most wonderful break any of us could imagine! Having the woods and the ocean and the views surrounding us was a perfect and beautiful contrast to his time in the war. The quiet was enchanting, especially at night, and the house itself is really something special, just beautiful inside. Very good and thoughtful layout too, the grandchildren especially loved all the extra rooms and lofts and play areas. We spent many nice days on the decks just watching the ocean, reading, and so on. We all loved the place. My son is back in Afghanistan now but we were able to provide him with wonderful memories of home and family, thanks to our very special stay in this house. We are hoping to stay there next time as well.

Words can't do justice to the wonderful time we had here. The home was truly beautiful in many ways. The modern architecture, the gorgeous wood floors and ceilings, the beautiful views, and the surrounding forest made it seem like a sanctuary for our large family reunion. Because of the great reviews and beautiful online pictures, we had very high expectations, but our expectations were exceeded when we arrived. We stayed for eight days and it was truly a joy...wished we could have stayed longer. Location was excellent too, very close in to all the attractions, easy access everywhere. Layout of the house worked very well for all 15 people and three generations of our extended family. Great combination of private areas and public areas so that nobody felt cramped, but had large areas too when we all got together as a group. Highly, highly recommended!

Outstanding place for a family reunion or other large gathering. Clean and well-kept. Versatile and flexible layout; good combination of large "public" areas but also many "private" areas of all sizes. Large windows everywhere looking out onto trees, hills, and ocean. Beds all very comfortable; they all feel new and high-quality. Very well equipped kitchen with many appliances and ample dishware. Quiet countryside neighborhood yet very easy access to downtown SF, took us 15 minutes to the convention center downtown. Would recommend very highly and would definitely come again to this excellent vacation rental.

I rented this home as a place for a number of international friends/family to take a mini-vacation after my wedding. Location is very nice.. up towards the hills but a minute or two to a nice, small beach, nice views of the mountains, very close to the highway to get to San Francisco (which is about 15, 20 minutes away). It's very easy getting to SFO airport because you don't have to go through the city.. it takes about 15 minutes, even on weekdays. A supermarket is just down the street (practically across the street from the beach), so you can cook and eat in the house, enjoy the views, and spend time with family. The house is well furnished including washer/dryer and pots/pans/plates/silverware, etc. We probably had 14 or more people eating together and managed to cook the food and serve everyone on actual plates (..without using the other kitchen). It's like a large family vanished temporarily and are letting you stay in their awesome house and use all their stuff. The house is very nice as well.. very modern, sleek architecture. The house has neat light switches, like you're living in the future. Plenty of space and parking, and a nice large living/dining area to talk and hang out. It holds many people, but there's plenty of space for everyone to disperse at the end of the night to the bedrooms. The rooms are located above the garage, so the front door is up two flights (about 20 steps) which may be something to keep in mind for guests including the elderly or those in wheelchairs. Anyway, we all enjoyed our stay immensely, especially for our first time renting a vacation home. Hopefully this won't spoil us! But Chris (the owner) was great and helpful, even when the Bay Bridge delayed us an hour (plus about another hour just because we were late). Thanks!

We, a group of 9 including 2 kids, stayed comfortably in this place for 2 weeks. Every bed is of high quality. The loft in the master bedroom doesn't have a real bed, but you can place an aerobed in it - we find in one of the closets at least 3 aerobeds that you can choose from. The place can be virtually split into two separate units, each having its own kitchen and living room. This is particularly good for us, two families, to interact as well as to keep the privacy when needed. The kitchen in the main unit is well stocked, the best I have seen, with modern appliances. Both living rooms as well as the master bedroom have huge picturesque windows, with lots of natural light. A family of deers rests nearly daily on the hill above the backyard in the morning, which speaks how quiet and relaxing the place is. Location wise, it takes us about 20min to drive north to Golden gate park in SF, 5min south of Montara beach and 10min south to Moss beach where you can appreciate wild marine lives in their natural settings. Down the hill and seen through the windows is the Pacifica state beach where surfers challenge the waves daily. We did stay on this beach for a half day to admire the surfers. One thing to note for families with young kids is that kids should stay away from the master bed room window when it's open. The window, without screen, is close to the floor, and kids could potentially fall out. I simply kept that window shut most of the time. The last thing but not the least - the interaction with Chris has always been smooth and nice.

We've been coming here for one week every year, since 2005. The house is gorgeous, modern, and clean; the view beautiful; and the location very convenient. Feels like a retreat, but so close to everything. Chris always offers great responsive service and treats us very well. Also keeps the place updated and improved every year, more amenities, well-maintained, etc. We have recommended it to two other families, and they also loved it. Definitely the best vacation rental experience we've ever had. We're already looking forward to next year!

Chris is a fantastic renter! He had the house clean before we arrived, provided air mattresses for our large group, and put out fresh cut flowers in the kitchen for us! The house is amazing: very large with plenty of beds and couches, and one of the kitchens comes fully stocked! Fantastic vacation home, a short drive away from the beach. There are also plenty of restaurants and little shops around the area, and Safeway isn't too far away either! Thank you, Chris, for your hospitality with our large group!

Such a beautiful house! Warm feeling, gorgeous views, perfect location, quiet setting, great fun for the kids (lots of "extra" little rooms, lofts, and passageways). Clean and very well equipped (dining/kitchen supplies, linens, etc.). The deer in the back yard are a special treat. The guest kitchen is especially useful to us, since we have a large extended family. We honestly couldn't ask for anything more, or better, in a vacation home. One of a kind!

We had a wonderful week here. The cottage was very clean and just as described. It was quite a rural location, but just what we were looking for. We had plenty of peace and quiet, but also found several great restaurants and some good day trips. The beach was quiet and perfect for our toddler aged daughter. We left with many nice memories!"

Perfect house, perfect location! We've stayed here one week every year since 2004, and we enjoy it more every time. Beautiful throughout: elegant, clean, new, great design, convenient, warm, and accommodating. The views are both lovely and peaceful. There are fourteen people in our extended family, and there's plenty of room for privacy for everyone. There are also two large gathering areas, for the whole group to be together. Chris provides very attentive service as well. Thanks for another wonderful week for our family...we'll be back next year!

This was the first time I planned a vacation home rental, but I am so happy I did. This beautiful, elegant house was so comfertable, we fell in love with it and felt right at home. The view of the beach is breathtaking, and was such a treat to look out at. Spacious bedrooms were gorgeous, and so was the kitchen! Quiet neighborhood was nice, we all slept very well. I enjoyed this house, and would love to return again.

The place was a real gem. The two kitchens made it very easy to cook for a large crowd and it very spacious. It is also a great spot for children since there are so many little nooks to explore. I showed up at night and when I woke up I was surprised to find that I could see the ocean clearly from my bedroom window. Breathtaking. The only complaint is that the lighting is complicated... It is an "intelligent" system that is not well labeled and very non-intuitive.

Great home in a great city. Ideal for a group of friends or a large family. Large open spaces for socializing (including two porches that overlook the beach). Bedrooms are separated from the social areas. Short walking distance to food, bars, and grocery. Neighborhood has a quiet, rural feel. Highlight? We enjoyed watching three deer dine in the neighbor’s garden.

Eleven of us (three couples -- the rest singles) from all across the country got together for a long weekend to celebrate a 40th birthday. This house was perfect. It allowed everyone to hang together or find a quiet place to be alone -- lots of secret passages and nooks and crannies. The kitchen is extremely well equipped for cooking meals for a large group. The large dining area comfortably accommodated all of us. The guest kitchen provided a great second refridgerator to stock enough food and drink for so many people. Chris is fabulous. He was helpful to us both in answering questions before our event and when giving us the initial tour of the place. Pictures and words cannot do this home justice...and we did feel right at home. Despite rain on one day, we still had a blast and already talk about having an annual get together here.

Finding a place for twelve people for a weekend is easy, until you have mostly non-couple people. When Chris got back to me promptly and was willing and even eager to help me figure out how to fit eleven separate sleeping surfaces into the layout, I knew I was looking at the right place for our bay area writers retreat. He was unbelievably helpful before, during, and after our stay. The property itself is eclectic, eccentric, and very accommodating. The "small play room" was a hit with several attendees, with two choosing to sleep in that room (on different nights, mind you--it's really too small for two people to sleep). The unexpected doors and pathways, the view of the beach and the stars from the living room and master bedroom, the copious electric outlets, and the two kitchens made for excellent writing, cooking, and relaxing territory for our writers group. The two things that would have made our stay better were well beyond Chris's control--he can't make the walk to the beach downhill both ways, and he couldn't get us all out of work for another week to stay around and eat and write. We're definitely looking forward to coming back for next year's retreat.

We spent 10 amazing days in Pacifica in May/June 2007. The house is a maze and is a thrill to discover. During our stay, we hosted several large parties and bbqs and can say that the house contains everything you could possibly need for baking, cooking, catering. The host was helpful in all possible ways, and we were generally impressed with the helpfulness of people in Pacifica. We would love to go again!!!

The house was everything it was promised to be and a wonderful place to stay. Chris goes out of his way to help you prepare for your stay and make sure you are welcome and comfortable throughout. We were a group of engineers from a small company attending a trade show in SF, and the house was perfect as not only a place to sleep, but a good place to do a little work and get to know each other better. As others have said, the design of the house is certainly unique, and while this is not meant to be negative, be warned that the layout of the rooms is such that only one or two are completely private when all of the sleeping areas are in use. For families this may be less of an issue.
Owner response:Thank you for your comments, Marc, and I am glad you enjoyed your stay! Prospective renters should note that the house has nine sleeping areas; however, not all of these are normal "bedrooms." Three of these sleeping areas are actually lofts, located above other bedrooms. When these three lofts are being used, neither that bedroom nor the loft above it has total privacy. (If only six of the sleeping areas are used, then each one has privacy.)

You can't beat the ocean view and the convenient location - just relax and unwind surrounded in quaint small town charm and seaside ambiance or blast off to world class San Francisco only 15 minutes away. This is an excellent getaway if you have to be "in the city" while avoiding the congestion and hassle of parking, traffic, etc. This beautiful home is huge and great for entertaining or staying with a group/family. We absolutely loved our stay and were actually able to relax - unlike many of our vacations in SFO - we'll definitely be back!!!
