Large 6 yr young home - with awesome views from both sets of wrap around porches. Getting to Timberline Resort is just a matter of piling in the SUV, drive for 1 minute down the mountian, and piling back out right onto the slopes. Totally cool. Upstairs is a game room large enough to hold a small wedding - with cathedral ceiling, a pool table, pingpong, foosball, and TV and stereo. The kitchen on the first floor is huge with a 6 burner stove and a long center counter so you can just line up the kids and feed'em like an army. The jaccuzi tub out back was nice and hot, as was the first floor gas fireplace. And wow - the basement is actually a huge two car garage. SUV's can easily fit and I swear you could put three with all that space. Good times had by all.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

Had a great time at this house. House is well maintained, very convenient to the ski area, and has a hot tub and stocked game room for relaxing. The game room really kept the kids (and adults, too.) entertained. House also has great views of the mountain and surrounding valleys.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

My family had a great weekend here skiing. Timberline is an off the beaten track resort. It offers plenty of challenges, but is not overcrowded. The Golden Retreat is close to the ski lodge, it makes an easy day of skiing, but is great for relaxing at the end of the day. From the huge garage where you can load / unload protected from the weather, to the huge rec room upstairs where we held family challenges of pool and ping-pong, to the jacuzzi on the deck... there was never a dull moment. At the end of the day, tired kids, tired dogs, cozy fire!!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Glad you had fun. Come see us again soon. Summers are great too.

Our family recently stayed at your comfortable, clean, functional and fun house in Timberline. The best part for us was that everyone had their "space". From the fantastic, huge upstairs game room to the solace of the back porch hot tub, we all enjoyed the vacation. Comfortable beds, over the top kitchen and the less than 4 minute drive to the slope or cross country trails made it even better!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We are so glad you and your family enjoyed yourselves. We look forward to seeing you again.

The Lodge is a great house, fairly well secluded despite being on Mountainside Rd where there are houses on every lot, only a couple neighbors in sight. The house sits up on top of a hill, so you get great views from the top floor deck. The kitchen has a professional 8-burner gas range which was perfect for a big meal. The owners were also extremely accommodating with very detailed directions, tips, check-in/check-out procedures, etc. They had labeled every light switch, every plug, the linens were all assigned to a certain bed in a certain bedroom, etc. It made the stay very easy and left nothing to guesswork. A couple people in our group had stayed at this same house years ago when it was owned by another couple, they report that it's much improved, so the current owners seem to be dong a great job at keeping it up. We also offered a few suggestions for improvement so we can't wait until our next stay at The Lodge.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We had a group of four families with a total of 8 adults and 9 children ages 7 and under stay at The Lodge for a weekend ski trip. We had plenty of room in the home with 17 people and never once felt cramped. Mark and Katie were wonderful to work with on our stay. They gave much needed information about the ski resort and surrounding area since it was our first time there. We loved our weekend getaway and only wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks, DennisRecommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

We had a family gettogether in this house during Oct/Nov. Great house to hang out as a group. There is a lot of room upstairs for the kids to run around and have fun. The fireplace upstairs and in second floor helps to keep the house warm. We were there just for 3 days. Spent all three days mostly indoors watching movies and playing indoor games etc. Everyone had a great time. The owners were very helpful and helped to make our stay memorable,Recommended for: Families with young children.

About the owner: We love the woods, outdoors, stars, quiet, clean air, and the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of our fast paced and hectic lives. We have yet to decide what is better, summer or winter. Both have lots to offer. Katie loves to cross county ski at Whitegrass or downhill at Timberline and Mark likes the excitement of Class 5 white water rafting, hiking and camping. Both like relaxing walks with the dog.
Why the Owner Chose Canaan Valley:
Great outdoors wonderland. We love outdoor sports, relaxing in the hot tub, a safe, fun place for the kids and lots of places to walk the dogs.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This Golden Retreat has plenty of room to move around and host lots of family and friends. Enjoy the fresh air, clean water and unlimited outdoor activities. Leave your BlackBerry/iPhone/Droid at home. Relax, read a book, play some pool/table tennis, soak in the hot tub, drink a glass of wine and enjoy the stars and peace and quiet.
