  Ten wonderful days flew by at Casa Bella. The six of us settled right in, enjoying the spacious and tastefully decorated home. (One if the first vacation homes where I didn't want to redecorate!) Lucca is a wonderful location, many great destinations are nearby...the problem was, I never wanted to leave! I would reluctantly get out of my cozy bed, where I would enjoy the view of the spectacular chandelier above me,(just one of many), listening to the sounds of the town coming alive through the charming open windows. From there I would pad my way out to the kitchen on amazing floor tiles that decoratively define each room...such a treat. We enjoyed preparing several meals made from our purchases at the great nearby markets. The dining room table easily accommodates 8 people. The shopping is outstanding, so many stores, you are never bored, and yet everything is within walking distance. We rode bikes to the store and on the wall, had a crazy amount of good food at the countless cafes and restaurants and then of course, had more gelato than we should have. But between walking and stairclimbing, (only 43, by the way), no worries! Even my 83 year old was up and down several times a day. Hope you enjoy yourselves as much as we did.

  We arrived hot and tired, having driven from Lake Maggiore. We called to let Ina and Lydia know we were in Lucca at the parking lot just outside of the walls and Lydia walked in the hot sun all to get us. What a sweet lady! The apartment does not disappoint. It is just like the pictures and in a perfect location. We were able to drive our car within a few steps of the front door to unload the luggage and then we drove it back outside of the city walls. It is perfect for a large family or even several sets of friends. It was just my husband and I so the space was terrific but we only used the one master bedroom. The kitchen is well equiped although I didn't really cook much....mainly breakfast and light dinners. Bathrooms are modern and one has a shower and the other a tub. One of the highlights of our stay was using the bikes that are privided with the apartment, to ride around the city and around the paths that surround the city. It was really lovely in the evenings. An absolute 'must'. We had a terrific time and hope to return. Highly recommend staying here instead of staying in a hotel.

  We spent a week at this home in spring 2012. It was so lovely to be able to come HOME after a long day of touring Tuscany; or, just to relax and regroup after enjoying Lucca. Lucca is a perfect, central location for exploring Florence, Pisa, Cinque Terre and many other Tuscan towns. The home was spacious, clean and comfortable. While it could get a bit noisy on weekend evenings due to the comings and goings of folks from the local cinema, it was otherwise quite serene. Nothing ear plugs couldn't handle, however. We rarely heard neighbors. The home, itself, is an appealing blend of Old Europe and modern living. Beautiful original flooring, doors and ceilings give you the feel of old Italy. Modern conveniences and family photos give you the comfort of home. Nancy was extrememly responsive to emails and we were met as arranged upon arrival. While we didn't take advantage of the bicycles provided, they looked great and are a lovely benefit to staying at this beautiful home. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay to anyone - unless stairs are a problem for you - as there are a few steps to conquer before you reach the front door.

  My three girlfriends and I just got back from a wonderfaul stay in Lucca and other Tuscany gems! We all agreed that our stay at Casa Bella was the highlight of our trip. The apartment is soooooo much more than we expected - beautiful, cozy and centrally located within the walls of Lucca. The space is large...the beds are very comfortable and having 3 bathrooms was a treat for four travellling ladies! We immediately felt like at home, but with an Italian flair! The entire process from booking the property to having someone meet us at time of arrival was seamless. Ladies such as Lucia and Anna Maria made our stay most enjoyable. Nancy provided us with information from directions, recommended restaurants and things to see within Lucca and surrounding cities/towns. My friends and I have already recommended the apartment to family and friends. At one point we will definitely go back! Lucca is definitely a place to see and "Casa Bella" is one the most beautiful apartment we've ever seen!!! It's a must - you won't be disappointed! Thanks Nancy for allowing us to discover your place and Lucca!

  After a very long flight from australia, we tried in vain to negotiate the one way system within the walls of Lucca. Nancy had very kindly provided us with a good map and directions, however it was too much for our weary brains so we resorted to calling Vera, who came and guided us to our apartment. We arrived at the door after a lot of puff climbing 3 flights of stairs, but the climb was well worth it once we saw our beautiful abode. The apartment was perfect in every way... comfortable, clean, spacious, bright and airy, gorgeous furniture, and an eclectic collection of magnificent chandeliers! We had everything we needed and more. Vera kindly left us some basic supplies for which we were very grateful after a 37hr journey. Nancy quickly dealt with one small plumbing problem that arose, and Vera dealt with the plumber, thereby leaving us free to go out and explore Lucca. The apartment is perfectly situated, and walking distance to everything. Lucca is a great base to explore Tuscany from, and we certainly made use of the numerous suggestions that Nancy gave us. We had one major problem at the end of our stay... we didn't want to leave! We could have happily stayed for weeks and weeks, but unfortunately all good things come to an end. However, we can't wait to return, and hope to do so soon. Thankyou Nancy for allowing us to stay in your wonderful home, and for being such a pleasure to deal with.

  Casa Bella lives up to its name - beautiful house yet very comfortable for a family. great location easy walk to the bus station for day trips to florence and pisa. will definitely recommend to others and hope to be back soon.

  On our visit we were 3 children's charity walkers covering a 40K sponsored walk around the beautiful historic walls of Lucca whilst also on vacation. We also thoroughly enjoyed seeing an outdoor concert in the piazza during Lucca's fantastic festival month. I found the architecture utterly inspiring, the people simply charming, weather hot, hot, hot and the apartment authentic and beautiful. It was a first trip to Italy for us all and the apartment by chance turned out to be a very short walk away from friends who live there - a perfect location! I can't wait to go back! Personally, I am already seeking out accommodation for the whole month of July next year which could ultimately turn into a long term let! I just fell in love with it! You will need to like walking though! No unauthorised cars allowed within the walls and 43 steps up to the apartment will also keep you fit!!! Bicycles are fun and all part of the unique charm of Lucca!

  My wife and I had a fantastic honeymoon at Casa Bella eating excellent food, drinking good wine and...well...not doing much else! The apartment Nancy and Patrick have created there is marvellous, so well decorated and so sympathetic to the architecture of the town and its atmosphere. We are used to far more active holidays but at the apartment and in Lucca we found places that were perfect for us to simply relax and reflect on our wedding, I think our biggest adventures amounted to riding the apartment's bicycles around the wall and out to brilliant Casina della Rosa restaurant!

  This flat lets you live in a 400 year old property in the centre of one of Europe's finest walled towns. What is there not to like? Has wifi, a great kitchen with gas and three bathrooms. The owner is new at renting so there were a couple of things that could have been better but we had no problems and would recommend the property. The flat is more suitable for families and not for, say, 3 couples as the layout of the bedrooms mean little privacy. Also, there are two flights of stairs to climb so older people may find that difficult. We had a problem with mosquitos but bought a machine nearby. We used the Esselunga supermarket on Viale San Concordio a short bike ride away.

  Our family (comprised of five adults) had a wonderful stay at Casa Bella for Christmas this year. The location in Lucca was perfect, within a block of shops and restaurants. Casa Bella is spacious, beautifully decorated and very well equipped, with high ceilings and an atmosphere of regal Italian elegance. Lucca is fascinating in and of itself, being a walled city with labyrinthine streets, and is a perfect base for exploring not only Tuscany, but also the west coast of Italy. We would love to return and can recommend Casa Bella without reservation.
