We spent our second vacation in this lovely cabin. My mother joined our family of 3 this time. She said from the moment we arrived, it felt like home. It rained for two days, which got us really relaxed. Once it let up, we took a walk down to the river to see it rushing as high as we have ever seen it in the 10 years we have been visiting Burnette Cove. The next few days made for awesome waterfall viewing as the rivers were so full! New waterfall for us - Moore Cove - easy hike and really enjoyable fall. You could easily pack in a picnic and enjoy an afternoon there. Made our way out to SkyTop Orchard on the scenic roads, which was very enjoyable. By the end of our week, we were sitting on the porch watching the leave fall with every gentle gust of wind. We could could take a ride up to the parkway and come down and see the colors had changed just a hint. We hope to make this spot our family retreat every year.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Two characteristics that make this charming cottage a relaxing get-away is its privacy and simplicity. We spent a lot of time in the rockers on the porch listening to the birds. Since the cottage is surrounded by fields and the hills of Cold Mountain, the day can pass quietly away without being aware of it. Although we ate out a few times in nearby Waynesville, we mostly cooked in the cottage, which has a fully-equipped kitchen. Meals at the picnic table were a delight in the fresh mountain air. Water out of the tap was cold and delicious. Even in July-August, temperatures were comfortable, and we rarely used the fans. At night, it was cool enough for fires in the fire pit. Friends brought by a croquet set, and we played many rounds of croquet on the large front yard. The yard was also the romp of our dog, who liked to roll around in the soft grass. The owners were very nice, accommodating, and helpful in their suggestions about the area. My husband fished in the locations they recommended and caught fish! We also fished in the pond that is near the cottage, which was fun for the kids. We truly enjoyed our stay at this little cottage and our vacation in the North Carolina mountains.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: As always, we feel totally refreshed when we leave our little piece of paradise - as you have expressed. And hate to leave our cabin as "simplicity" is what is missing in our daily lives. We are so happy you found this to be true while you were there - and even caught fish! :-) We look forward to meeting you in the future!

Upon entering the cottage, my family and I were struck with one overwhelming feeling,..we were home!! Nestled in a private mountain meadow, and with the Smoky Mountains as your backyard view, one could not ask for a more charming, homey, and friendly feeling place to spend a relaxing weekend or week. The property was immaculately clean, and well maintained, as was the inside of the cabin itself. It was everything and more that the very friendly and helpful owners promised! The cottage itself is located within minutes of charming downtown Waynesville, with it's many eclectic shops and restaurants, and literally surrounded by the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. We enjoyed sitting long hours on the porch, while rocking the time away in the rocking chairs with a good book. The whole family enjoyed the many yard games that are made available, horseshoes, bocci ball, etc. The peaceful evenings were spent under the mountain stars, gathered around a crackling fire we made in the front yard firepit. Our nights were peaceful in the soft, comfortable beds. All in all, there is not one negative thing I can say about this place! The owners are very friendly, easy to talk to, and are very willing to answer any questions you may have. It is obvious that their goal is for you to have a wonderful stay, and a wonderful stay it was indeed! In fact, we have already booked our next visit, as we were already missing it's charm! I can highly recommend staying here to everyone from couples to whole families! It's like coming home!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Great cottage for a small group of up to 6 people looking to stay in the Canton/Waynesville area. Very easy to find and close by to stores and restaurants while still providing a great feeling of serenity and isolation. The beds slept comfortably. The kitchen worked great for cooking large dinners. The living room worked great for watching movies and playing board games. Our personal favorite part of the house however was the front porch and the fire pit. We spent most of our time hanging outside by the warmth of a great blaze. For the price this spot really cannot be beat. It has everything needed for a simple mountain weekend. Pros: Porch/firepit, price, location, decor Cons: Not a great view, maybe too simple for someRecommended for: Adventure seekers

As always we enjoy this home away from home. Our dogs love the yard to run free and we all love the smell of fresh air. Our seven yr old loves to walk to the river to fish, and adventure around the area. The front yard is great for bonfires, horseshoes, ladder golf and relaxing on the porch in rocking chairs. It is very hard to find a cabin that has such a big yard to offer here in the mnts, while you still have privacy!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I have been to the cottage several times. We both enjoy the location and relaxing in the fresh mountain air. They really think of everything at the cottage, so it you feel right at home. We've used the cottage to entertain guest from out of state visiting North Carolina for the first time, Fly Fishing trips, or just as a personal retreat after a long week. No matter what the visit, make a trip to the Bell's Mountain Cottage and you'll never want to visit another place!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Rustic cabin in the woods, secluded, and a delight. We were able to totally relax and un-wind. The cabin has unbelievable charm. My wife's first comment as we entered was that "it reminds me of my aunt's house where I spent summers." Added benefit was it was only 12-15 minutes from historic Waynesville where we shopped and dined. Hiking, fishing and golf were close by. Owner was very open and hospitable, with large selection of DVD's and books provided. The cabin was well appointed inside and obviously a "labor of love" for the owners. The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking supplies and needed utensils. The picnic table was a delight for morning and evening meals. We can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

This was the perfect get away from the city. I have 2 children 10 and 8 and they love it. It is very quaint and quiet. You really feel like you are in a remote mountain cottage. The scenery is lovely. We liked that there is so much to do and see close by. Waynesville for shopping and dining, the Biltmore in Asheville etc.... In addition, the cottage is well maintained and clean. Also, the owners are very friendly and knowledgeable and very responsive. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for a simple and pleasant place to stay in the mountains.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Waynesville is such a wonderful and charming town. The shops and restaurants are great. It is a warm, and friendly town. You always feel at home there. This cabin is so welcoming, with such charm and history. You never want to leave. It was so relaxing to sit on the front porch with our coffee in the morning, or our wine in the afternoon. The mountain views are beautiful. All the rooms are a good size. What a wonderful place to visit. We will be back!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

I have stayed at this cottage several times and I have never been disappointed. It is quiet, warm and feels like my second home. The proximity to Waynesville makes it so easy to run to town for lunch, a loaf of bread, or a movie but, once I am back at the cottage, I am secluded from the world. I would definitely recommend it anyone who wants the best of both worlds.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

MY family and I took a weekend vacation to the quaint yellow cottage of Susan and Gordon Bell. We had an amazing time. My children loved being able to be outside in the mountains playing soccer and football in the front yard and the side of the yard as well. A lot of other houses had drop offs, with not much room for kids to play. IT was such a great get away! I love that the house is rustic, hardwoods throughout the whole house, an old wood stove to help heat the house, very cozy and inviting. Unfortunately we weren't able to get there when the leaves were in their color state... but I tell you what, waking up to a light dusting of snow on the ground was so nice, the children would wake up and run to the window jumping up and down reciting "snow, snow... there's snow". If you like to hike... this is the place to go because there is hiking almost everywhere you turn. We will be coming back for years to come... this will be something we most likely do at least once a year if not more! Susan and Gordon do a wonderful job with giving you information that you need, they have maps galore to find a place to go hiking, and directions to many different places for you to check out. Susan and Gordon are great with corresponding to you in a timely manor... very sweet people. I Hope to one day meet them and enjoy their company. Thank you Susan and Gordon... may you be blessed beyond imagination!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Even though your weekend was one of the coldest we've had, we are so glad you liked our little getaway and the children enjoyed the snow! Hoping you'll return when it is very warm and nice like it is right now - one week later! One never knows what it is like in the mountains. :-)

We scheduled a 7 night stay at the Bell's place in Burnette Cove. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we extended another three nights. We enjoyed the sights on the Parkway (10-15 minutes away), had a couple of meals at the Pisgah Inn (20-25 minutes away), went to a family-friendly U-Pick apple Orchard (Sky Top 45 minutes away), and enjoyed farm fresh vegetables bought from the Ten Acre Garden (10 minutes away). The property is perfect for someone looking for a rustic retreat. No traffic, no neighbors close by, and of course fresh mountain air. We will be back again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Since you all knew the area quite well, we were thrilled to know you would be visiting our cabin this year! And in time, your family will continue this tradition over the years, hopefully. :-) And I'm so glad you could stay an extra few days as a week just isn't enough "down" time it seems. Can't wait to see the brochures about the places you went to that you left behind for others to glance at, Kelly. We try to give our own input but it's great when other's share their experiences, as well. Thanks!

We have rented this cabin several times. We love the fact that it is soo private yet located very close to Waynesville. The cabin has everything that you need but what we love the most is the fire pit where we roast marshmellows! Will definatly visit again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: ...and that is why we love our little piece of Paradise so much - the privacy is great, the sights and sounds of the roosters crowing and birds singing - and of course, watching the fire burning in the fire pit that my husband and a friend (and our lab, Sadie) built a few years ago! Actually, our cabin is for any age group as we've had babies under a year old and my parents, who at 93 and 86 loved going there as much as we do. And of course, the fishing within walking distance is a favorite of our grandson. :-) Ya'll come back now, ya hear, Betsy!!!
