I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful home in the fall of 2012. It was simply an incredible experience. My wife and daughter stayed for a full week while her parents and brother joined us for a few days towards the end of the trip. It is a truly unique property with stunning views of Black Mountain and adjacent hills. The interior is stunning. It is decorated with a tastefulness and uniqueness like I've never seen before. My wife and I would catch ourselves staring off at various decorations throughout the upstairs each day. The upstairs area has a wonderful kitchen with a nice eat-in area that had wonderful views. This was by far everyone's favorite floor in the house. The kitchen was so enticing that I ended up cooking 4 nights we were there. This wasn't something I anticipated doing but after seeing how wonderfully stocked the kitchen was, I just couldn't help myself. All the basics are there; from pots and pans to spices and oils. The exterior of the house is quite a marvel and really needs to be seen in person. The eco-friendly build type just adds to the allure of the building. In all the time my family and I were there, there was not one thing I can think of that wasn't in the house for our usage. The outdoor fire-pit was even ready to be lit. There happened to be a wedding on the Saturday night of our stay at the nearby inn and wedding guests literally walked over to the house and made conversation about how amazing it looked while we sat by the fire-pit. Lori, the owner, was gracious and easy to communicate with. This was our first home rental so we had tons of questions and she made every step as easy as could be. If I could give this house and our stay more stars than the 5, I certainly would. Anyone visiting the Jackson area would be doing a disservice to themselves to not consider this house.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This house is simply amazing. The pictures do not do it justice and Lori the owner is an amazing decorator--every nook in cranny in the house looks like it could be in a magazine. The location is fabulous...high on the mountain with the sounds of the wind rustling the birch leaves and the brook across the street. Breathtaking views of mountains in every direction, horses grazing in the field across the street and the night sky sparkling with countless stars (my kids have never seen so many stars living in the suburbs of Boston!) The kids loved the access to the pool at Whitney's and the gift certificate to the Pub was such a nice touch. We will definitely be back, Thanks Lori and Steve!Did you find this review helpful? Myself, my wife and two young children (ages 4 & 7) recently spent a week in this home and it was perfect! This house (and its location) is outstanding in all aspects and truly exceeded our expectations. The layout of the home is very unique and combined with its pristine condition and very tasteful decor we were always happy to return home after a day of enjoying northern New Hampshire. The location 10-15 miles north of the hustle and bustle of North Conway provided a perfect base for our daily adventures - Storlyland, Attitash Mountain summer activities, hiking Mt. Washington, etc were all easy drives from this home. Lori (the owner) was outstanding to deal with and the entire rental process from beginning to end was very straightforward. We definitely plan to return and would wholeheartedly recommend this house to everyone!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I had the pleasure of staying in this lovely home. The moment we arrived we felt welcome and at home. Our children enjoyed spending time at the pond near by and watching the horses graze right across the street. Everything we wanted to do was within easy driving distance: hiking, horseback riding, Storyland, shopping and eating (everything you need in a vacation). We will absolutely be renting this beautiful home again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

first off the pictures fo not do justice to this absolute gem of a home! the decor, the set-up of the living space the thoughtful use of space and windows (what views!) are simply amazing. there were 5 adults and one yellow lab who just adored every minute of the stay in this immaculate, well appointed home. the two bedrooms were comfortable and good sized. the downstairs entertainment room/extra bedroom was perfect for our friend who had traveled with her dog since they had direct access to the outdoors and therefore didn't distrurb the rest of us with their early morning routine. the kitchen was beautiful and fun to work in. because of the open concpet no one felt left out of the fun. the shovel handle pub, a 5 minute walk down the road was a great spot for dinner. the owners were an absolute delight to deal with, i don't think they could have been any nicer or more accomodating. we're already planning our next stay which will probably be this winter!Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

5 out of 5. We were looking for a weekend retreat for our hike to Mt. Hight. Our group consisted of family members from Portsmouth NH, Peterborough NH and Portland, ME. We were alos trying to find a place that would allow us to bring our 4-legged family members as well. This house met our needs and exceeded our expe...ctations. As soon as we walked in the door, we knew we had found a gem. The weekend was made up of hiking, relaxing, shopping and enjoying the Shovel Handle Pub. The pictures and descriptions do not do this house justice. It was decorated as if it were my own, and perfectly set up with all the amenities you would need away from home. The owners were terrific and went out of their way to make us feel at home (in their home). We look forward to returning in the future and would absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the Jackson area. There are plenty of outdoor activities nearby such as hiking, biking and skiing in the winter. North Conway is only a short drive away for those looking to shop. But what enjoyed the most was relaxing at the house in one of the many comfortable chairs, just relaxing and enjoying everyone's company.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Every September, Myself, my husband, our now 18-month-old daughter, our furry son "Zane the boxer" and my parents embark on a weekly get-away. We always look forward to creating enjoyable memories together during this trip. This would be our first visit to Jackson, NH. Each year I have the daunting responsibility of selecting the rental that will be known as home for the week. First it must be dog friendly, now it must be kid friendly as well. Does it meet all the needs of the adults staying there? Is it affordable? How about the location, what's that like? I aim to please and with Lori's help, I was certain her home would be the perfect place for our get-away. She gave me specific details about their home and assured me that although the home is quite vertical, similar to most mountain side homes, our daughter would be quite safe there, and indeed she was. We added a few safety gates that we brought with us and without hesitation my daughter was delighted to explore all the neat little touches this home has amongst its decor. Lori is extremely patient and before we ever entered her home, she made us feel quite welcomed there. It is very obvious that she cares about her guests and works hard to make sure they have a memorable stay at their Black Mountain home. Writing a review about this property doesn't do it nearly any justice. The home offers so many nice features to include being very clean. Some of the more simpler things we enjoyed were reading in the afternoons while delighting in the warmth of the afternoon sun. The stillness and quietness of a nightime stroll to the Whitneys's Inn & pub. Since becoming a new mom, there aren't too many things I can do without interruption. But, while our daughter was preoccupied with having Daddy, Grandma and her Papa around all at the same time, I was able to enjoy a quiet shower all to myself. The master suite has a relaxing rain shower head that is simply marvelous! Although there was no shortage of down time, we enjoyed plenty of exercise while we were there. The home sits perfectly at the base of a hlll and its street leading up part of Black Mountain made for a great daily walking challenge. The location was perfect! We could ride our bikes to Jackson Falls and all around the beautifully landscaped town of Jackson or take a quick car ride to North Conway. We look forward to a return stay. The quiet appeal of Jackson and the memories made at this home I'm sure will draw us back again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The secret is out! More and more people are discovering what a wonderful house this is! We wrote in our first review (Paradise at Black Mountain)…. ”You won’t want to leave and when you do, you’ll be planning your next visit there!” And we followed our own advice! In the early morning, where else can you picture yourself but in the great room on the top floor, coffee cup in hand, staring at the low mist burning off Black Mountain? And would you want to be anywhere else early evening but on the deck sipping a glass of wine and watching the sunlight stream through the young birch trees? Every detail – both inside and out – has been thought out with great care and detail. The rain shower in the master bath is soothing after a day of hiking or shopping. The wood floors in the bedrooms are soft and warm under your feet. Even on a rainy day, there is lots to do in the house and lots of space to do it in – reading books and magazines, playing games, working with arts and crafts, cooking a great meal (you only need the food, everything else is there) or just hanging out listening to music. There are plants everywhere in the house that are tended with great care. In June, we were greeted by dozens of purple and yellow irises along the new brick front path and there were pink and red geraniums on the front porch. You feel like you know Lori, the owner, through the house, so it’s like staying at a friend’s house. We call it the “Reiki House” because it is where we come to de-stress and re-energize. Over the king bed there is a sign that says “Peace, Love and Happiness.” That should be the name of this house because that’s how you will feel when you stay there. And when you regrettably leave to go home, you will be thinking about when you can come again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We rented the home Memorial Day weekend for a trip to Storyland. The location was great and the home surpassed our expectations. We usually rent homes when we go on vacation and this home was by far the most beautiful home we've rented - and, it didn't feel like a rental home at all (it felt more like we were staying at a friend's house). Lori was also very responsive and great to work with. We would definitely rent this home again and recommend it to friends.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My family spent a long April weekend here for my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves . .. even in "mud season" when many things were closed. The home is very well thought out, very clean, luxurious yet comfortable and decorated with many fun, quirky objects that lure you to walk around the home gazing at things like you're in a museum. The kitchen is well equipped and a dream to cook in. Bedrooms have comfy beds with nice linens. The views from the top floor (livingroom/kitchen area) are beautiful and must be fun in the winter when you have a great view of Black Mountain and it's goings on. Several fires in the firepit and walks around the area settled it . . . we must go back! Now to decide which season?!?!?Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We surprised my wife by renting it for her 50th birthday. As soon as we saw the house we knew that this was the best choice. It has easy access to the slopes on Black Mountain and very beautiful on the inside and out with many special decorative touches throughout that give it a warm and inviting feel. It has plenty of parking and the three levels of living space offer a lot of room to move about. The top floor has the living room with plenty of comfortable seating around a beautiful gas fireplace, dining room with windows that face the ski area, large well stocked and laid out kitchen, plus a large deck with a gas grill that you can walk out on to enjoy the fresh morning air while you drink your coffee. The middle floor has a huge entrance with a very large bench which makes it perfect for taking off all that snow gear. The master bedroom and bath offers lots of privacy. There is another bath and a bedroom on this floor. The bottom floor also has a private entrance. It offers a living area with futon and flat screen television, a dining area, a bath with washer and dryer. All three floors have many windows that capture the sunlight in a very spectacular way and allows views of the fields, the woods, the mountains, and the ski area. The owners are fantastic to work with and we highly recommend this home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have been renting homes in the White Mountain region for 7 years and this house is our top pick! The setting is gorgeous as you can view from the home, the mountain range along with horses grazing in the background. As soon as we arrived, we de-stressed immediately. The owners are extremely accommodating and a joy to deal with. The home is new, beautiful and decorated with unique creativity. The beds and furniture are comfortable, and the owners included a $25 gift certificate to the Shovel Handle Pub along with access to the Whitney Inn's pool (a nice touch). The surrounding area is very peaceful; it's truly the perfect location to get away from it all. Our vacation was one of the best because of the great choice in this home rental.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have been coming to New Hampshire to hike for over twenty-five years and can't imagine staying anywhere else but here from now on! We were close to so many places – the towns of Jackson, Glen, Bartlett and North Conway – yet, it was a very private location. The house and its surroundings were even more incredible than the pictures, and that is saying a lot since the pictures are beautiful. As we drove up the road and saw the house, we knew it would be special. From the moment we entered this eco-friendly house on the second level, there was a wonderful smell of wood and fresh air. The colors of the rooms – the soft greens, burnt oranges, and reds warmed the house and made each room unique and inviting. There are windows everywhere with amazing views in every direction – of the majestic Black Mountains, the horses grazing in the fields and the young birch trees swaying in the breeze. It is simply a peaceful retreat, lovingly decorated and more than comfortable – it feels like home. There are fun and whimsical touches everywhere that add to the warm feel of the house. The king bedroom is large with an extremely comfortable bed and a beautiful ensuite bathroom. We enjoyed making breakfast and planning our day’s hike in the fully equipped kitchen area of the “Great Room” on the third floor. Even the dishes have a cool design and there are lots of them! The owners have supplied every cooking utensil and appliance that would be needed to make a family meal – or a romantic dinner for two. We spent late afternoons or early evenings having a glass of wine and reading on the deck which faced the southwest where we could enjoy the incredible sunsets. And of course, we checked out the tv located on the first floor Fun Room to keep up with the Yankee scores! A short walk from the house is the Shovel Handle Pub, where we enjoyed some delicious meals. The owners graciously included a gift certificate to the pub in the very detailed welcoming folder. They were a pleasure to deal with – so accommodating, professional and humorous! We highly recommend a stay at this gem of a house for an unforgettable stay….You won’t want to leave and when you do, you’ll be planning your next visit there!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Together as a family we enjoyed spectacular views of Black Mt. and horse pastures right outside our window! This new construction home has three levels of spacious, yet cozy, living space, is decorated tastefully and supplied all our needs. We felt right at home- the bedrooms were very clean and comfortable, which made for a wonderful nights sleep. We were minutes away from horseback riding, swimming, hiking, fishing, Jackson Falls, shopping, Storyland and North Conway. Yet, it was peaceful, quiet, and very private. The owners were very pleasant to deal with and accomodating. Upon arrival, they supplied a personal folder for us explaining house info., helpful local info. and even a dinner gift certificate for a local Inn and pool privileges. We would highly recommend this home for a wonderful NH experience.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The house was wonderful, location great, scenery beautiful, very fortunate to chose this location for a vacation. The house has plenty of space for all. We have 2 teenagers, who eash brought a friend, and they all had their own "space". The design of the home offers you a comfortable spot to read, play games, relax, enjoy a meal with good company. The deck on the 3rd floor is perfect for coffee in the morning, you can hear the brook across the street. The firepit area outside is really comfortable, a great place to watch for shooting stars. The gardens are beautiful and the pathways lead you around the home. There are horses grazing right across the street. They go in during the day, but are there to watch and marvel at their beauty in the afternoon and at night. Very convenient to walk to the Whitney Inn for a swim, paddle around the pond or fishing. They were very welcoming. Also, the restaurant is wonderful, and easy walk down and back from the house. We did several trips hiking, swimming, shopping in North Conway, and bike rides. Just a short walk up the hill from the Whitney Inn gives you a great view of Jackson, awesome sunsets! All in all, I would recommend this home to everyone. Very comfortable rooms, the decor is warm and friendly, everything we could have asked for and more. Try it, you will not be disappointed, I promise!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
