This spot met all our needs for a Lake Tahoe ski trip. The unit was as described and shown. It has a very nice "homey" feeling. The well stocked kitchen was especially appreciated. All the utensils, appliances, and dishes one would need as well as the basic spices and cooking needs were there. I would definitely recommend this spot. The owner was easy to deal with and very responsive.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We are a family with two adults and two teen boys - this house worked perfectly for us. The house was clean and beautifully furnished. I especially enjoyed waking up in my oh-so-comfortable bed and looking out the big window at the snow covered peak. There were plenty of household supplies and a well stocked kitchen. The den was cozy and well equipped with games (and a 500 piece puzzle that I completed!). The boys skied at Squaw everyday and took the shuttle bus back to the house for a lunch break (some confusion with that). We went XC skiing at Royal Gorge, Tahoe Donner, and Tahoe XC; all three were excellent and about 20 minutes away. The boys rented skis just up the road at Mtn. Mike's - great people there, very convenient. Having a garage was great - it was nice not having to move the car in the middle of the night when the plow guy came or to clean it off in the morning! The owner, Julie, was very helpful and easy to work with. She has gone above and beyond with this property and I would certainly recommend it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This house is extremely clean, comfortable and well-appointed, with very nice dishes, kitchen equipment, games, etc. The sheets are high quality and the house is lovingly decorated. Feels more like staying at a friend's house than a rental. We needed more information about how to catch the ski shuttle up to the resort, and had no trouble contacting the owner. (It would be helpful to leave basic shuttle info in the house). I can highly recommend this place!! Thank you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and I stayed here with another couple + 3 infants between the two families and this house was perfect! Very cozy, plenty of space for little people to sleep in their pack and play cribs during the day/night. Amazing location just a stones throw from one of the great ski mountains in the country - Squaw. I had no problems getting to/from the mountain even without a car via the multiple shuttles and kindness of strangers (a Winding Creek resident offered me a ride one morning). A great bonus - if you'd like to cook, this house has one of the nicest kitchens well stocked with high quality pots, pans, knives, etc that I've seen. I can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This Squaw Valley home is a perfect place to stay. The house is comfortable, spacious, clean, and very accessible. The attached garage can fit a small car or is perfect for keeping bikes, which we used every day. Early mornings, we walked the 1 mile trail up to the Village, passing the beautiful meadows covered with the morning fog and watching the geese float in for a morning meal. The approaching mountain sides, which are famous during winter months for skiers, glowed with the rising sun. Later in the morning, we jumped on our bikes and rode the lush 5.5 mile path to Tahoe City. The ride along the Truckee River is a popular place for walkers, runners, bikers, and rafters. The owner gave us a gift of a free dessert at Jake's Restaurant on North Shore, and the food and view off the outdoor dinning was a real treat. There was so much to keep us active with outdoor recreation. But, we also spent plenty of time at the Squaw Valley home. The living area is spacious and comfortable with the deck just off the kitchen/dinning area. With the sliding glass door open, the breezes from the valley kept us cool and filled the house with the fresh mountain air. The lighting in the house is bright and natural, during the day and comfortable during the night. All of the rooms have very comfortable beds that are roomy. We really enjoyed staying in the upper level bedroom. At night we could fall asleep to the view of the stars through the spacious windows. The kitchen is our favorite. It is very well stocked with everything you would need. The dishes , tableware, place mats and other utensils are all of good quality and tastefully chosen. This flows well with the rest of the decor in the home. The native art on the walls and the furniture, provide a warmth to the space that allow us to relax and feel right at home. We really recommend this place during the summer, not only for it's beautiful and comfortable surrounds and great accessibility, but the price is great too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Colette, glad you came back for a another vacation at 419 Winding Creek Road. How fun to spend a week enjoying our home and Squaw Valley in summer. Your friends who came with you stayed over a few extra days and were so enthusiastic and helpful. They contacted me when the internet went down -- so I could get it fixed asap. You are all welcome back any time, any time of year. Best wishes, Julie Nachtwey

Our family of 4 had a lovely time at the house. Lots of space and well equipped. Very convenient to the village and the lifts. It was a much nicer choice for us than a condo in the village. Thanks, Julie!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: How nice that you could spend your Easter holiday at our place! I hope you enjoyed your complimentary "hula pie" at Jakes on the Lake Restaurant in Tahoe City. Come again, anytime. Julie

This home was by far the best I have ever rented from this site. Never mind that the location was the best, the home was clean, comfortable, and centrally located for activities in Tahoe, Squaw and even Reno. This house had everything one could want when you are visiting Tahoe/Squaw. All the amenities were there that anyone would need, even the little items including laundry detergent and basic necessities for cooking. Travelling from the east coast, you cannot take items like that on the jet, so having these here was a great convenience. You just have to unpack your clothes, do a little grocery marketing, and you are set to go and have fun in the area. I would recommend this home to anyone. Not one complaint !! We loved it and will definitely be back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

The house is in great shape, the pictures reflect the rental's appearance. The owner takes care of the house so she is on top of everything and is very helpful. The property was very clean and well mantained. We went every day to Squaw we stayed more than 15 days and it worked great for us. We will definitivelly stay again. We are a family of 6 (four kids) there was enough space for all.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Fatima, What an adventure to bring four kids all the way from Argentina. Our housekeeper loved speaking Spanish with you. I'm glad your family was comfortable here and enjoyed your stay. Our neighbors said their son enjoyed skiing with your girls. You are more than welcome back any time.

Five of us stayed here in early January. The house is very nice and we would return here again. We really enjoyed the fireplace! It heats up the upstairs and the master bedroom very well. The cabin is very close to many ski resorts. When we were here there was only man made snow at all the resorts, and not all the lifts were running but we still had a great time. We skied at Diamond Peak and Alpine Meadow. One day we took the tram to the top of Squaw Valley. I would love to come back again when there is lots of snow!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Sharon, glad you enjoyed your visit, especially coming from so far away (Georgia). since your daughter lives in SF, w e hope you'll be back. Any time of year is fun in and around Squaw Valley. Best wishes, Julie

Our family really enjoyed our stay. The kitchen had everything you need. There are lots of games, magazines, etc. Fast internet. We stayed at this beautiful home for the Tough Mudder event at Squaw Valley last weekend (September 16 - 19, 2011) and it was perfect for our needs: only a few minutes from the event site, so cold, tired and hungry Mudders could be warmed, soothed and fed quickly, and it had plenty of room and amenities for 6 adults. We definitely recommend this rental with a big thumbs up!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Leslie, so glad it all worked out. It must be true: "Mudders have more fun." Hope you will all come back again. Best, Julie

We stayed on Father's Day Weekend and enjoyed the home very much. We biked to the Village several times and also went into Tahoe City on bikes. The bike trail is just across the street from the house. Had our adult children, spouses, and teen grandson join us with plenty of room for all. Went to Jake's on the Lake and Blue Agave for meals and both were great.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: So happy that Walt and his family enjoyed their visit. Last spring he sent me a photo of him and his wife before they came to Squaw Valley, which was a lovely gesture. Walt just sent me a wonderful photo of his family across the street, in front of the meadow, with the snow-capped mountains in the background. Great shot for a holiday card! Walt, you're always welcome to visit any time of year! And get two free nights!! Best wishes, Julie

A belated thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us. It was a fantastic getaway for our family. Your home is the perfect base for winter adventures in Squaw Valley. Owner response: It's impressive how you took the snow storms in stride. Glad it worked out. Hope to meet someday when you're back in California, visiting your sons. Best wishes, Julie

Squaw got so much snow the weekend we were there that friends staying farther away actually got snowed in and couldn't make it to the mountain. Not so with us. We were out of the house and in the lift line in under 20 minutes. The house itself is cozy, clean and comfortable. The main room and kitchen is large and open and great for groups to hang out in after a day on the slopes.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Great value, great location. The kitchen had everything that we needed to cook hot breakfasts and even a birthday dinner. There was enough space for the adults and the kids to spread out. The house is very comfortable and you instantly feel relaxed. Everything was clean and well maintained. The only tricky issue is the thermostat setting during nights. A common issue in 2 level homes with the thermostat only on 1 floor, there will be one floor that gets more heat than the other. That's only a minor issue though and it wouldn't stop us from staying here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are delighted that the house worked so well for these two families with small children. My goal is to create an environment that suits all ages. We love our house and enjoy sharing it. Our policy at night is to wear flannel pajamand snuggle under the comforters, so at bedtime we feel comfortable with the thermastat set low at 55. In the morning we turn up the heat to 65 to take off the chill. When we leave for the day, we turn it down again. This group of travelers is welcome to return anytime -- and receive a FREE NIGHT on either end of a three-day stay any time. There're lots of fun activities in the summertime and all year long!

I've stayed here on several occasions, and this place is fantastic! It is such a great value, it's so comfortable and the location cannot be beat. The owners keep the house super clean, and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything we need to cook full gourmet meals (except for groceries, of course, that would be weird). I've slept in the master bedroom, the downstairs queen bedroom, and the loft - all three beds are incredibly comfortable, I've always slept so well. The loft is really fun too, for kids and adults! There's parking for three cars in the driveway, a cool rustic fireplace in the living room, and a brand new deck off the kitchen and dining area. But the best part about the house, in my opinion, is the location. It is a 2-minute drive to the base of Squaw Mountain and the village, or the resort - and you can catch a ride on the shuttle if you don't feel like driving yourself! It doesn't get much better than that! I would definitely recommend this house to anyone. The owners take really good care of the whole property, and are really responsive if you have any questions/concerns. I will DEFINITELY be coming back!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: It's nice to know that our attention to detail is appreciated. We like to think of everyone as our house guest. We hope people want to come back. So we offer a complimentary night added to any return weekend stay. Squaw Valley is a year-round destination with activities to complement every season. We love spending time at our house in Squaw any time of year.

My husband and I stayed here with our two children and a few friends. The house is beautiful, clean and well located, very private. The great room is spacious and comfortable for relaxing. We found the kitchen to be fully equipped which was a real plus as we love to cook. The kids loved the sleeping loft (although not recommended for really little ones). The rooms were cozy and it was nice to be able to park our car in a garage, out of the snow. The shuttle to the village was very convenient, much nicer than having to drive, and the house is quite close to the bus stop, so we didn't have to carry our skis too far. The Resort at Squaw Creek is within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this property and I'm sure we'll be staying there again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A beautiful spot to vacation and a spectacular introduction to the Lake Tahoe area. Minutes to hiking and biking trails for the summer time and conveniently located next to the mountain for skiing. The house is tastefully designed, well kept and comfortably slept 8 for our cousin's weekend getaway. A wonderful reprieve coming from the city at the time. We enjoyed the short distance to the shops and restaurants in Tahoe City and the breathtaking views of the lake!
