Estes Park house description

We respond to all inquiries and calls promptly. Our calendar is always fully updated.
The Davis Hill Historic House, with its breathtaking view of the Continental Divide, began as an inn around the turn of the last century in a smaller structure. The present stone and stucco structure was built in 1923. We operated the house as a B&B for the first four summers but after numerous requests from guests to rent the entire house for their summer vacations and reunions we converted it to weekly rentals starting in the summer of 2011.

The home is in an absolutely fabulous location. On a hill in a quiet residential neighborhood, you can leave your car parked and walk to downtown in five minutes. There are numerous shops, restaurants, wine tasting rooms and attractions just two blocks away, to include Fun City-a kids' favorite.

The house has six bedrooms which includes a loft/dormitory and two full baths and one half bath. There is a full kitchen equipped with everything you need to whip up great meals. There is also a dishwasher and microwave. There is a large living room with comfortable furniture surrounding an incredible moss stone fireplace.

You can dine inside at the large dining table (original hickory style) or al fresco on the wonderful front porch overlooking the Continental Divide.

The back wing of the house has three bedrooms and one hall entry bathroom. The bedrooms include one with a king bed, one with two twins and one with a double and a twin. The bathroom has a claw foot tub and separate shower. The other main floor wing has a bedroom with a queen bed and a bedroom with a full bed (''the nook''). These bedrooms are separated by a bathroom with claw foot tub (tub has shower attachment). The nook has a private exit out to the front porch. The comfortable main floor period bedrooms all have antique furniture and wonderful beds.

Upstairs is a large loft/dormitory that is very popular with kids and teens. There is one queen, one double, one single bed and a twin futon and a half bath. There is also a futon and couch for lounging.

Guests often have a hard time pulling themselves away from the view from the large porch to go explore Rocky Mountain National Park, the Stanley Hotel, the YMCA of the Rockies and beautiful downtown Estes Park with the wonderful river walk. There is a shared fire pit available out back for roasting hot dogs and making s'mores. Complementary, on site laundry facility usually available 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Tue-Sat.

This home has a maximum occupancy of 15. Do you need more room? Ask about renting our adjoining cottage which sleeps 4-5 (Home Away #964466, VRBO #139663) in addition to the house. Click on ''Click Here to see All My Rental Listings'' below to see the cottage.

We spent several days at Davis Hill when our daughter was getting married in Estes. Davis Hill Historic B&B saw parties, gatherings, dinners, cocktails and of course, many folks having a blast. It was the perfect place, it embodies Estes and Colorado charm and there was plenty of space for parties, with several partiers who hadn't planned to spend the night! Easy walk into town let us enjoy the shopping and dining in Estes. Elk and mule deer all around the property - we woke one morning to 60 elk in the yard. The owners were great to work with, very friendly and extremely responsive to our every need. Thanks Jim and Lois - you and your place made a great occasion even more memorable.

Our son and daughter in law had a beautiful wedding in Estes Park. We decided to make the trip an extended vacation also since we were coming from Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and South Carolina. The house was perfect in size and design. Our daughter, son in law and their 3 children spread out in the large upstairs loft area. The remaining adults had the other 5 bedrooms. The house has many historical artifacts and collectors items. We were transported to another time in history, while also having games, reading material, and up to date electronics all in tip top shape. The owners were available but unobtrusive in the house next door and warm and gracious. It was a short walk down the hill into the middle of town; a 10 minute drive to the entrance to the RMNP; and we saw moose and deer around the property every day. Everyone feels it was the perfect vacation location-a small neighborhood up a hill so you have views and privacy, yet close to all conveniences. We would love to return someday.

We absolutely loved our stay at Davis Hill. The property is wonderful – rustic and authentic, but modern and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed for meal preparation. The house has plenty of bedrooms for our large family, and the beds were all very comfy. We especially loved sitting on the huge front porch, watching the wildlife with mountains in the background. It is a perfect place to chat while enjoying coffee or meals. The kids in our group loved playing all around the property, and had plenty of places to sleep or lounge. The house is conveniently located, walking distance to town and an easy drive to Rocky Mountain National Park or the YMCA. We highly recommend the property!

August 5,2012 stay at the Davis Hill B&B- As members of our local Landmark Society we appreciated that this historical B&B has been preserved and continues to operate so visitors can experience the craftsmanship of the home. We liked the rustic décor and the fabulous view from the porch letting us take in the great Long’s Peak with its very famous notch. We also enjoyed the hummingbirds as they visited the feeders. There is always a photography opportunity. We were traveling with our grandson and he enjoyed the area surrounding the home for playing and exploring. Our bedrooms were comfortable and we liked the ceiling fan. The bathroom was handy and shower had great pressure. We found the well-equipped kitchen and barbecue grill perfect for preparing meals. We were able to entertain our friends on the front porch. Being close to the Rocky Mountain National Park is a real bonus and we saw lots of wildlife. It was nice to have the River Walk only a couple blocks away so we could have a nice experience walking downtown.

Davis Hill B&B was a great location for our family get together! We traveled from five states, ranging in age from 3 to 80 and all were entertained. This was one of the few homes in/near Estes that had enough bedrooms to accommodate our needs. We spent a lot of time on the porch enjoying the wonderful weather and endless games of horse shoes in the yard. We fully utilized the kitchen and grill for meals, with almost daily trips to Safeway in hope of seeing Elk. One end of the river walk started at the bottom of the hill (2 blocks) from the house, which was a nice peacful walk and trail for running to the lake. Most of all, my family felt at home and was able to relax. We took advantage of one of the cycling tours, riding downhill through the park for 26 miles, which offered an alternate vantage point of the park and was easy enough for some less experienced cyclists in our party. It was a bit expensive, so not something i would do multiple times should i return to Estes for another vacation.

Just spent a week at this property with a portion of my large family. The porch is so beautiful and relaxing. Wonderful views. The weather was fantastic! Especially when the temps were in the triple digits at home for the entire week I was gone. Third week in July and highs in 80s and lows in 50s. I tested all the beds and all were very comfortable. The bedrooms have ceiling fans or other fans if you prefer a little air movement. The kitchen was well equipped with the exception of a few sharp knives. There was even a crock-pot so we could put on a roast before we went hiking. The only inconvenience that we experienced was the limited shower situation. (Note: The owners did offer use of their personal bathroom, but that seemed awkward to me) There are 2 showers/tubs but 1 requires that you go through one of the bedrooms to get to it. Due to this layout, 10 people ended up sharing 1 bathroom. There were 13 of us altogether. The upstairs loft has a sink and commode, but no shower. The installation of a shower upstairs would be a fantastic upgrade and would take some of the pressure off of the main bathroom. We loved the large dining room table. It was large enough for all of us to eat at. There was plenty of seating in the living area. Several members of the family took advantage of the laundry facilities. We also took advantage of the outdoor grill for several meals. The only warning I would give would be to bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. This historic home has very creaky floors. No way to sneak down the hallway in the middle of the night to use the bathroom! :o) Overall a very good place to stay, just short of excellent. The owners are very nice and friendly.

Our family of 13 spent four nights and made great great memories. The house offered plenty of room, was very quaint with all the history and Lois was a great hostess who was available whenever we had questions. Our favorite space was the porch where we all spent hours talking and playing card games. We all can't wait for a return visit and would recommend this property to others. Also, the town of Estes Park offered so much for all in our group (ages 4-74).

My husband and I rented this home for our family, including children and grandchildren. We had a wonderful time together and enjoyed the home very much. It was within walking distance of the town and many activities, which was so convenient. We ate a lot of our meals in, since we had a large group, and the kitchen had every thing we needed for cooking. The barbecue pit was fun too. Our grandchildren had a great time roasting hotdogs and marsh mellows. We saw Elk, rabbits, prairie dogs, and chipmunks right outside our window. It was a wonderful vacation!

My family and I had a more than wonderful time staying at Davis Hill. Actually, we took over Davis Hill; the condo; and the condo above the owners. Everybody had plenty of space and all of the facilities are great. There is easy access to Estes Park; Rocky Mt National Park; horse back riding; white water rafting; hiking; shops; etc. We all would love to return again and soon. I recommend this with the highest recommendations. We love Lois and Jim, they are so accommadating. For group reunions all 3 of these locations are within walking distance of each other. The properties have available all the cooking; sleeping; and living supplies that you would need; We grilled and had a bonfire. The elk, deer, and chipmunks are right in the yard - amazing. Thanks to Lois and Jim.

We had fourteen family members converge on Estes Park for a family reunion and the David Hill House could not have been a better place to stay. We had plenty of room, could walk to town, and made the most of a kitchen that was well stocked. We brought groceries and cooked quite a bit. The house is very close to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park so day trips/hikes were great. There's lots to do and see in the area, and we kept everyone in the family (ages 10-83) as active or relaxed as they wanted to be! The house is clean, comfortable and full of great games and puzzles. Lots of places to lay around and read, too, with great views. We'd stay again in a heartbeat. Thanks to the owners who were available and nearby, and who actively worked to make our stay wonderful.
