My family just returned from our *BEST EVER* family vacation! I’m a Contract Firefighter in Afghanistan, and when I come back for R&R, I am always looking for comfort, CLEANLINESS and overall somewhere I can de-compress with the people I cherish most in my life, MY FAMILY. I was born in Cortez and have tons of family there, I grew up in Oceanside, CA so there are certain things that I have grown accustom too in in SoCal. This cabin far beyond anything I expected!!! It was pure PERFECTION. The home is immaculately clean, spacious and attractive. Attention to detail and many thoughtful touches make guests feel at home, like descriptive notes and labels, maps available for loan, etc. The home owners and Barbara was immediately responsive via e-mail and phone, and incredibly helpful and gracious. I hope in the near future to rent this cabin again, I could go on for days about absolutely how wonderful this cabin was, but I’ll stop here and just write a BIG THANK YOU for allowing me and my family one of the most enduring memory filled vacations we’ve had to date. This place is perfect!!! Thanks again BrandenRecommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you and we hope your family will celebrate other vacations in our cabin. We hope others will too.

Three of us stayed for one week in this lovely cabin. The cabin is spacious and we had plenty of room to watch movies, play cards, fix meals and generally lay around after long days of hiking. The location is about 12 miles north of Dolores as stated in the description and this was no issue in terms of driving. Since we were there in the winter time, we were concerned about the drive, but roads were plowed. The drive way was not plowed, but a little stomping around with our snowshoes cleared a driving path, and this was fun. The cabin was clean and beds were comfortable. The cabin is well stocked with cooking necessities, and close enough to good stores that we never ate out! The cabin has a caretaker and this was helpful in terms of getting the cabin ready for our arrival and also, answering questions about local information. I would certainly go to this cabin again!! If you have kids, or are a group with several couples, this cabin would work well for you.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
