Seaside Greenport Village Historic
District, on Long Island’s North Fork, New York.
“Rose Cottage” is within the Greenport Village Historic District with water views of Sterling Harbour’s busy mooring field of classic to modern sailboats, and power. Fish as close as the Village dingy dock, two doors away: rent a boat, or slip, or launch your own, within a local clam’s throw. Bathe in and eat from some of Long Island’s (or the world’s) most pristine water quality maritime environments.
Greenport Village is the gem of Long Island’s few active seaside villages: off the beaten path yet easily accessible from New York City by the LIRR, Hampton Jitney or car, or from Boston by car or Amtrak and the New London-Orient Ferry.
Rose Cottage is an easy stroll from the Village Center and its restaurants, cafes, boutiques, gourmet shops, many art galleries and antique shops, banks (ATMs), bookstore, hardware and marine supplies, farm stand and supermarket.
Greenport Eating is a pleasure from picnics at the many beaches, or harbour front Mitchell Park, with its Carousel and live entertainment, to waterfront clam bars, diner, cheese emporium, and tea shop, and of course more formal fine dining with top chefs and local food.
Day Trips might include the quaint Orient Village, Sag Harbour, Orient Ferry roundtrip, the ‘Peconic Star’ to Block Island, Nature Conservancy's Mashomeck Preserves, Audobon Society’s birding and Town’s trails and woods, walk on the Shelter Island Ferry and stroll among the gingerbread houses and restaurants of the ‘Heights’.
Greenport village is in the heart of the award winning North Shore Wine Country, with tasting rooms and live entertainment.
Green Farm Stands all the time and Saturday morning tag sales and flea markets.
All surrounded by the sea.
“Rose Cottage” is beautifully furnished and styled by its owner, the former decorating editor of a national magazine, with an open floor plan, spacious rooms, gourmet kitchen: very light, and very airy.
A two story Cape, two bedrooms (one queen, one double) and full bath upstairs, main floor master bedroom/front parlor with queen sofa couch and full bath (sleeps 6) , kitchen dining room with half bath, large sun filled living room, couch sized reading bay window, and fireplace for cozy fall and winter evenings, “Rose Cottage” is surrounded by beautiful gardens, ideal for outdoor entertainment, fountains, mini ponds, and a pergola.
Other amenities include washer/dryer, dishwasher, central air and heat, fireplace, cable TVs, internet access, personal chef available for shopping, cooking, small dinner parties, lunches, picnics.

This was much better than we expected. Complimentary bottle of local wine. The owner directed us to the better "places" and activities...most within walking distance. The fall colors were spectacular without the crowds found in upstate. The nearby restaurants were of good quality, the wineries most within a few miles. The cottage (really a home) was well cared for and clean. I would consider a second stay again, and recommend it to othersRecommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Wonderful home inside and out. All the amenities were well planned for the guests and worked well for us. The landscape design around the house gave one an opportunity to stroll around into different areas of the property, eat out in several places and relax inn a corner lounge. Christine was brilliant in helping to make our weeks stay quite comfortable and enjoyable. We will be coming back.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, pet owners, sightseeing.

2 good-sized bedrooms, a big kitchen, several outdoor spaces and comfortable sitting areas in the living room and den (which also has a fold-out couch). Kitchen is large and appointed with all the expected items and some unexpected, including food staples and spice. Bric-a-brac everywhere makes things feel cluttered but doesn't get too much in the way.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My recent stay at the Rose cottage was lovely. It was off season and quiet for Greenport. The home is beautifully decorated and we were all very comfortable. We enjoyed a fire at night. The outdoor space was very peace full. The town has many restaurants and friendly people and fun shopping. Would love to go back again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway.

I've had a wonderful time at the Rose Cottage this summer. This house is one of Greenport's best kept secrets. The garden is beautiful and the house is sunny all day long. All amenities are there to ensure you have an amazing time, including central A/C, a full equipped kitchen, beach towels, TV, DVD player and wi-fi. Your hostess, Christine, is lovely and ready to answer all your questions and share with you tips about the best places to visit in the North Fork. The waterviews from the bedroom and the sun rising in the morning are priceless!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

we stayed there for the long Easter holiday. What a wonderful place! The house is lovely and feels so comfortable and inviting. i wish we had actually spent more of our time in the house just to enjoy it a bit more. It is immaculate and looks exactly like the photos. Aside from the beautiful cottage, the town of Greenport and the North Fork are wonderful places to visit. We took the ferry over from New London and once on Long Island we were at the cottage in about 10 minutes. We had wonderful dinners at Noah's and The Frisky Oyster (both in Greenport) and Luce + Hawkins (Jamesport). All 3 were great. We visited wineries every day and ending up bringing quite a supply home with us. Let's just say our cellar is more than fully stocked! I would recommend this loverly home to anyone, and i look forward to staying there again as well!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I WAS RECENTLY A GUEST AT THE ROSE COTTAGE AND CANT SAY ENOUGH. IT HAD ALL THE AMENITIES OF HOME, IF NOT MORE. THE GARDENS WERE DELIGHTFUL, THE VEIWS FABULOUS AND THE QUAINTNESS OF THE VILLAGE WILL DEFINITELY BRING ME BACK. FOR ONCE I DIDN'T NEED A VACATION AFTER HAVING A VACATION.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway.
