Aloha!! We had an awesome time on the Big Island, this home makes a great "home base" from which to explore the island. We visited Pu'uhonua O Honaunau, Volcano National Park, Ka Lae, Hilo, Akaka Falls, Mauna Kea and many other places the island has to offer. Also enjoyed watching the sunset at the beach just a few steps from the house. The house is in a really nice quiet area, away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist/resort area of Kailua-Kona which we truly enjoyed but still close enough to the tourist area to enjoy the many restaurants and shopping if you want. Several nice coffee shops & cafes close for breakfast/lunch. This home is very comfortable and clean. Thanks for making your beach home available for others to enjoy.

This is an amazing place. The pictures do not do it justice. The location is absolutely fantastic: next door to Pu'uhonua O Honaunau, a block from THE BEST snorkeling spot on the Kona coast (two step), we saw honu and spinner dolphins within 24 hours of being there! The tidal pools were a treat for our youngster, the canoe club next door was fantastic for me: I joined and paddled with them three-four times a week, the hiking trails through the park were quiet and beautiful, and of course, best of all, this is right there by one of the most sacred sites in Hawai'i. One morning, we awoke to a beautiful hawaiian chorus at the school across the way. The house was beautiful and comfortable (no A/C but we definitely didn't need it). There were several local vendors along Ke'e and Napo'opo'o road and we often got fresh homemade tortillas, and fresh produce and leis from them and really didn't need to go very far to eat well. The area has a few good eating places, keoki's fish fry and the coffee shop at the head of the road, the shave ice lady across the street, and Kealakekua bay so close by. There is a fair amount of night traffic due to the fishermen and some noise from falling coconuts and a few roosters. But we got used to this pretty quickly, in fact, it lent a country charm to the whole experience. The owner was gracious and prompt, she had a beautiful gift basket awaiting us. We can't say enough good things about it--it was an idyllic experience!

I'm so glad we chose to stay at this wonderful house in Honaunau instead of "in town". We are definitely off-the-beaten-path people and this was perfect for us - mom, dad, teenaged daughter and teenaged daughter's friend. The drive from the small town was not bad at all - great road, not scary like I'd heard about in the area. Some of the houses closer to the ocean in the South Kona district do have tiny winding roads but this road also serves the National Historical Park so it's fine. The property was nice & quiet; you'd never know you're next door to an National Park Service site. Speaking of that, the City of Refuge was awesome and I felt so honored to be next to it. My husband decided there's definitely a "presence" you feel from being next to a historical, sacred site. The proximity to the beach and the awesome snorkeling there is fantastic... you can get up, walk maybe 200' and be in the ocean while everyone else is still driving from their hotels in Kona. The local shops, sights and restaurants are also great. Super J's for plate lunch food and South Kona Fruit Stand for smoothies and snacks, the Painted Church (on the way to the house) and coffee farms everywhere... what a great location! The amenities of the actual house are wonderful! The house is beautiful, extremely well maintained, and has such great perks like the deck that looks out to the sunset over Honaunau Bay. The grounds are full of beautiful plants and trees and we watched the geckos incessantly. I loved the huge master shower (2 shower heads in a giant room) and the kitchen was top notch. We felt very, very welcomed by the owner and we received our security deposit with no problems. Oh, also there is great wifi at the house along with satellite for those nights when you're just tired of nothing but beautiful views and gorgeous weather. There's really no nightlife that I know of here, other than looking for eels in the tide pools at the local beach, but that's not what we were after. We bought a six-pack at the grocery store, some great take-out in town and kicked back on the deck to enjoy paradise. I'm in love with this place... the house, the locale, everything. Simply amazing.

We had a great time at your home. The location was perfect. Here are the highlights of staying at your wonderful residence: - Ocean view and literally steps away from beach and great snorkeling - Your home was comfortable, you made it nice for us and we felt we had all the amenities we were looking for. You advertised your property accurately! - Being right next door to a national historical park was a real treat and we discovered great walking trails and a beautiful sand beech in the park. - We loved being in the midst of real Hawaii, not the chain hotels and tourist places. One day, by suprise we discovered a 30yr anniversay celebration of a Halau Hula (hula dancing school) under a shelter at the beach and saw some of the most beautiful hula dancing! The people were so warm and full of aloha they asked us to sit down and enjoy the celebration with them. - The property was clean, well maintained and the owners were accessible and made sure everything was right for us. - With a car it was easy to get everywhere, and we discovered there was an organic fruit stand close by where we got delicious produce and honey. - The house was perfect for my 84 year old mother - it was easy for her to get around and she had a very good time All up, I would stay here again and recommend the property!
