We purchased this sweet little beach cottage in early 2007 for our family getaway and have had a great time completely renovating it ourselves. It features a vaulted ceiling and open-concept living dining and kitchen area with lots of natural light inside. Coastal Nest, as we have named her, is just shy of 1000 square feet of living space inside and provides all the comforts of home you would need for your beach getaway. Just bring your clothes, food and beach attitude!
A hop skip and jump north of Coastal Nest is Analyde Gap beach approach. In a brief walk (about 1/3 mile) you will find yourself at the oceans edge. Or, if your packing up all of your beach bum accessories for the whole day, throw it in your car and drive! you can take your car on the beach here in Washington State. On the North Beach, we have the most spectacular stretch of unspoiled beach you could imagine. Beach combing, shell hunting, and imaginative driftwood pieces abound and are easily found here.Surf fishing for perch is popular at PB, then theres also surf kayaking!
If you would rather shop, the small town of Pacific Beach has a few little gift shops and bakery-coffee shops, too. There are a limited amount of restaurants in PB. A family restaurant at the Navy Resort center across the street, a burger joint downtown, a lovely romantic restaurant in Moclips and a few others. There is no real grocery store, so keep that in mind. The local gas station does have a well stocked mini mart, but rarely fresh veggies or fruits.
A half hours drive south will bring you to the city of Ocean Shores, which has a movie theatre, grocery store, casino gambling, more shopping and fun choices for kids like scooters, bumper boats, ect. Back up north there are great hiking trails at Lake Quinault. Visit the historic Lake Quinault Lodge, check out some gigantic old growth cedar trees and a beautiful rainforest in the Olympic National Forest.
After a fun day out exploring, head on back to the Coastal Nest where you will find ample new thirsty white towels, washcloths, shampoo and soaps in the linen closet in the bathroom. A stack washer and dryer are also there for your use. Kitchen utensils, dish and washer soap, pots, pans, dishes and glasses are aplenty. A fire pit outback makes delicious smores and hotdogs, the firewood is there, too. Enjoy a barbecue or a glass of wine on one of the 2 decks where you can take in the beautiful sunsets or an early morning coffee with the sunshine. Attention to detail was a must when furnishing our little cottage, Beachy and relaxed is the style, for ease of cleaning and an un-fussy look. Cozy new bedding, pillows, sheets and blankets will round out a wonderful day with the ocean outside lulling you to a relaxing nights sleep. If you are any kind of star gazer, Pacific Beach has the best night sky you could imagine. BA zillion stars can keep you awake for hours, stoke up that backyard campfire and make it a late night, you wont believe it!
If hiking and biking is your thing, there are wonderful short trips from the cottage to take in the majesty of the Olympic Peninsulas unique and unmistakabley NorthWest climes.
We have tried very hard to make this a perfect getaway especially for families, couples, girlfriends retreats, crafting weekends or a quiet place for you to get re-energized by yourself. Books, games, cards and blocks will busy the children the closet in the back bedroom. It is full of fun just for them! If you are bringing your pet, there's doggie towels for those salty wet runs on the beach. We know dogs love it here, too.

What a great spot! The Coast Nest Cottage was perfectly situated in the city of Pacific Beach. A bit off the main road, but close enough to walk to several local eateries/bars. We also took a trip out to Quinault Rain Forest and spent some time at the beach. The Cottage was perfect for two couples. We commented several times that we did not feel crowded or on top of each other the whole weekend. There was room to spread out AND spend time together. We made several meals and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Both of the beds were extremely comfortable and cozy. The quilts in the Cottage also added a nice homey feel. Plenty of towels too! Thanks for a wonderful getaway. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed and can't wait to return when the weather is a bit better so that we can enjoy the fire pit!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

My husband and I were so ready for a last minute getaway. Between his hectic work schedule and me working on getting our son settled into college and helping our daughter get accepted to college we have had no time to ourselves. I thought I would surprise him with a little getaway. Once we opened the doors we completely relaxed. We even took a well deserved nap, which I never do. This sweet little cottage had everything we needed to cook in and enjoy just being together. Loved snuggling up with the cute quilts and listening to the rain. We are definately bed snobs with having our Sleep Number Bed, but the master bedroom bed is super comfy and the down comforter was so warm. This was definately what we needed to reconnect. Now we are rejuvinated to tackle our lives again. Thank you for sharing this amazingly sweet little piece of heaven.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children.

The pictures and the reviews are spot on. When you walk through the door you feel like you've been here before - you feel like the bear in goldilocks bed. It's comfortable, cozy - just right for a beach getaway. The house feels lived in, yet divinely decorated, clean and well stocked. We cooked an entire Thanksgiving meal here, complete with Turkey on the bbq, and wanted for nothing for cooking and dining. Actually, we wanted for nothing, period. The owners have stocked the home with extra blankets, pillows, games, dvds, candles and books. The road is quiet and were were able to walk our dogs down to the beach - maybe a 1/4 mile - without concern. The beach is flat and goes on forever! Many people use Pacific Beach as a central location to visit the span of the coastline. We like to hunker down and just "be." Surfhouse Espresso and the Seagate offer great local color and yummy eats.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

We had a wonderful time at Coastal Nest Cottage for a girl's getaway weekend! I was so happy to come across this cottage when searching for a place to stay at the beach. Based on the listing and previous reviews it looked perfect for our weekend and I am happy to say it was it was exactly that, perfect! The cottage was very clean, spacious for the three of us and had everything we needed to just relax for the weekend. The owners were very easy to work with and I felt the rates were very affordable for everything the cottage has to offer. We got up early on Saturday and went for a hike near the Lake Quinault Lodge just 35 minutes away, which was fun even in the rain. We did drive to the beach, which was very close, but unfortunately the weather was a little too blustery to get out to enjoy it. It was nice just to sit in the car with the window down and listen to the calming sounds of the ocean for a little while before we left. It was great to come back to the cozy cottage and snuggle in for the rest of the day. There was plenty of space at the table to spread out our crafts & weekend projects and enjoy uninterrupted girl-time. The cottage has a great selection of movies to choose from and the docking station for our iPod was great for listening to our favorite music. The décor of this little place is fantastic and there was no mistake we were at a beach cottage! It was fun to stop and look at all the decorations and it seemed like every time I did, there was something new I didn’t see the time I looked before. We enjoyed the décor so much that we made sure to stop by the owner’s new store in Aberdeen just to see what she had there. And we were lucky enough she was open and happened to be there so we could thank her in person for a great getaway at her cottage. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a beach getaway any time of the year and I am looking forward to the next time I can get back for a visit! This was our second time visiting the Coastal Nest Cottage, and this time around I asked for her hand in marriage--she said yes! As expected the house was in perfect shape, and gave us great access to the beach and small shops in town. We'll be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

What a wonderful place for a family to reunite! The weather was so spectacular for end of September, and everything we could possible need was here. Decorated to perfect, you could look around and not see it till the next time. So many personal touches, you felt it was all yours. Great location as we walked to the town of Pacific Beach and the beach itself. People flying kites, walking together, laughing. Bought local oysters and steamers at Lytles and cooked them over the firepit in back yard with the sunshine beating down on us. Ate at SeaGate for breakfast which we walked to for a great meal. We are definately coming back as we feel a home away from home. Plenty of room for all 5 of us. Everything clean with plenty of towels and dishes.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This little house was a wonderful getaway for my family. The house was immaculate and well appointed with almost anything you need for a comfortable and convenient stay. The house is sweetly and tastefully decorated with great attention to detail. I have two year old twins and I pack lots of toys and books to keep them occupied when we go away but I was delighted to find a cabinet full of toys and books for every age in the second bedroom. My kids were thrilled with all the "new" things to play with. The nearby beach in Pacific was beautiful, it was the best of the three we visited in the area. The only things that could have improved our stay would be 1) more TP in the bathroom ( we had to purchase more for our stay) and 2) chairs around the fire pit. To sum it up - beautiful area, lovely property and easy, pleasant transactions with the owners. We are already looking forward to our next stay at Costal Nest Cottage.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children.

We had a fantastic time at the Coastal Nest Cottage. The amenities were excellent and everything described prior to us going was perfect. There was a bbq provided and wood for the fire pit in the back garden. Pacific beach was within easy access and the views were amazing. We will hopefully be going back again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

For the second year in a row, we splurged on a whole month's stay at the Coastal Nest. It's because we got homesick, the minute we left in August 2011. There's nothing that compares to waking up in the cozy bedrooms to the smell of the ocean, and depending on the direction the wind is blowing, you can hear the waves, too. Or maybe this does compare: coming back from a sunset visit to the beach (we timed it: via car it's under a minute away, on foot, uphill, 8 minutes surf to door, less if you're fitter than we are) and, after taking a leisurely bath, snuggling up on the comfy sofa with one of the fluffy blankets and pulling out your kindle with a cup o' tea next to you. If you get lucky as we did, and the sun shines on your vacation, there are two decks: the back one is good for mornings, the front great for afternoons and sunsets. One of our most important criteria: the beach is dog friendly and so is the Coastal Nest. The chairs outside are pretty comfy, and if I'd been cooking, we might have had a meal out there. Here's a tip apropos not cooking: the best burgers are to be found at the convenience store (yes, I did say convenience store!) in Moclips, about 3 miles away, the best fried chicken at "The Green Lantern" on Highway 109, halfway to Ocean Shores on your right (going south). However, if you do want to cook, the kitchen is great to work in and fully equipped. Pacific Beach had lots to offer: Labor day weekend there was the Kelper's Day parade, a tug of war on the beach competition and dancing in the street. The weekend after that it was the annual kite festival, with lots of colorful kites dancing in the sky above the beach. All of it within walking distance from the Coastal Nest, no car needed! Bottom line: We will be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children.

When you leave a place and feel homesick before you make it out of the driveway, you know you found the right vacation spot! We had a wonderful relaxing time that was much needed. Lisa left a great welcoming present for my husband who had just gotten home from a very long unplanned 14 months at sea. I think this was the least stressful vacation we've had. really hoping to return next summer. Our aging Cocker Spaniel turned into a puppy right before our eyes on the beach each day and we hope to take him again next year if he's still with us! :) can't say enough good things about the Nest and am already referring friends and family. (though I secretly want to keep it all to myself!)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is an easy walk from Coastal Nest, about 3 blocks, since we are on a high bank there is quite a hill to go down, and up..However, you can drive on the beach here in Washington and if you have alot of beach gear to take, you just might want to drive and park at the bottom of the hill.

Here is another beach approach, handicap accessable, lovingly cared for and it has an added bonus, a great creek for the kids to play at. Alot less worrisome than them playing in the ocean, plus the ocean is right there. It is a gorgeous park and this is where we spend most of our time walking from our place down to this beach access.

This is the hub of PB. Small theatre with movies every day. A sweet little 4 lane bowling alley. Restaurant with the usual suspects, Burgers, pizza, chicken, steak, seafood. Lounge for nightcaps. They have a great little espresso bar in the cute giftshop, which also sells everything from beach necessitys to booze. The facility also has great play areas for the kids, there are two locations, on near the ocean, and one across the street farther south on Chandler stree. Everything here is open to the public, except for the lodging.

If you are looking for eccentric owners of local business, this is the place. Mr Wacky will mostly be found selling his wares from plumbing parts to piggy banks. There are some wild things to see here, he also has open mike Fridays were, if you dare, you can play a tune for all to hear, recite some poetry or just sing a song with your friends. Be Wacky at the Wacky..its worth going in and saying hey..you never know what you will find!

while you are at the beach (and on in the Coastal Nest when you arrive) is our local all volunteer radio station. It is also housed in Wacky Warehouse downtown. Its a fun, laidback beach radio station that plays random hits from long ago, to some newer tunes. I am sure there are original songs coming out of there too. The DJ personalities are like old friends, hysterical and fun to listen to at 89.1 on your FM dial. Your Host on the Coast.

About the owner: About us...Steve and Lisa have loved Pacific Beach for many years and found ourselves in the right place at the right time when this little treasure of a home came up for sale. Our young family happily and lovingly renovated every square inch of this place by ourselves. Living close by, we are able to enjoy coming out for the weekend and overnight trips when the kids aren't in school or sports of one thing or another. We hope you will like our little slice of heaven, too.

We have always loved Pacific Beach and the North Beach of Washington State. When we started looking for a beach cottage we never imagined that we could find one that suited our family any better than this one. We love the easy, sometime quirky small town community vibe that the North Beach has.
