We purchased this sweet little beach cottage in early 2007 for our family getaway and have had a great time completely renovating it ourselves. It features a vaulted ceiling and open-concept living dining and kitchen area with lots of natural light inside. Coastal Nest, as we have named her, is just shy of 1000 square feet of living space inside and provides all the comforts of home you would need for your beach getaway. Just bring your clothes, food and beach attitude!

A hop skip and jump north of Coastal Nest is Analyde Gap beach approach. In a brief walk (about 1/3 mile) you will find yourself at the oceans edge. Or, if your packing up all of your beach bum accessories for the whole day, throw it in your car and drive! you can take your car on the beach here in Washington State. On the North Beach, we have the most spectacular stretch of unspoiled beach you could imagine. Beach combing, shell hunting, and imaginative driftwood pieces abound and are easily found here.Surf fishing for perch is popular at PB, then theres also surf kayaking!

If you would rather shop, the small town of Pacific Beach has a few little gift shops and bakery-coffee shops, too. There are a limited amount of restaurants in PB. A family restaurant at the Navy Resort center across the street, a burger joint downtown, a lovely romantic restaurant in Moclips and a few others. There is no real grocery store, so keep that in mind. The local gas station does have a well stocked mini mart, but rarely fresh veggies or fruits.

A half hours drive south will bring you to the city of Ocean Shores, which has a movie theatre, grocery store, casino gambling, more shopping and fun choices for kids like scooters, bumper boats, ect. Back up north there are great hiking trails at Lake Quinault. Visit the historic Lake Quinault Lodge, check out some gigantic old growth cedar trees and a beautiful rainforest in the Olympic National Forest.

After a fun day out exploring, head on back to the Coastal Nest where you will find ample new thirsty white towels, washcloths, shampoo and soaps in the linen closet in the bathroom. A stack washer and dryer are also there for your use. Kitchen utensils, dish and washer soap, pots, pans, dishes and glasses are aplenty. A fire pit outback makes delicious smores and hotdogs, the firewood is there, too. Enjoy a barbecue or a glass of wine on one of the 2 decks where you can take in the beautiful sunsets or an early morning coffee with the sunshine. Attention to detail was a must when furnishing our little cottage, Beachy and relaxed is the style, for ease of cleaning and an un-fussy look. Cozy new bedding, pillows, sheets and blankets will round out a wonderful day with the ocean outside lulling you to a relaxing nights sleep. If you are any kind of star gazer, Pacific Beach has the best night sky you could imagine. BA zillion stars can keep you awake for hours, stoke up that backyard campfire and make it a late night, you wont believe it!

If hiking and biking is your thing, there are wonderful short trips from the cottage to take in the majesty of the Olympic Peninsulas unique and unmistakabley NorthWest climes.

We have tried very hard to make this a perfect getaway especially for families, couples, girlfriends retreats, crafting weekends or a quiet place for you to get re-energized by yourself. Books, games, cards and blocks will busy the children the closet in the back bedroom. It is full of fun just for them! If you are bringing your pet, there's doggie towels for those salty wet runs on the beach. We know dogs love it here, too.

Give Coastal Nest a try, We'll leave the light on!

Coastal Nest Cottage-Sweet Lil' Place with Great Reviews..

Year Purchased: 2007

Why the Owner Chose Pacific Beach

We have always loved Pacific Beach and the North Beach of Washington State. When we started looking for a beach cottage we never imagined that we could find one that suited our family any better than this one. We love the easy, sometime quirky small town community vibe that the North Beach has.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage

The most enjoyable thing about coming out to Coastal Nest is that you can completely disconnect and relax, getting away from all the stressful events in the real world. Connect with the important things in life, family. Walks on the gorgeous beach, campfire in the back yard, a hike at Lake Quinault. Big beautiful dinners on the deck or at the large dining table. Coastal Nest is a family friendly cottage, we hope you will create great memories here, like we have. Enjoy it, Please..

A
Beach Approach!! Analyde Gap Road

This is an easy walk from Coastal Nest, about 3 blocks, since we are on a high bank there is quite a hill to go down, and up..However, you can drive on the beach here in Washington and if you have alot of beach gear to take, you just might want to drive and park at the bottom of the hill.

B
Beach Access!! Joe Creek-Pacific Beach State Park

Here is another beach approach, handicap accessable, lovingly cared for and it has an added bonus, a great creek for the kids to play at. Alot less worrisome than them playing in the ocean, plus the ocean is right there. It is a gorgeous park and this is where we spend most of our time walking from our place down to this beach access.

C
Pacific Beach Gazebo--Photo opportunity

Here is a beautiful place to snap a few photos of the gorgeous Pacific Ocean, its a monument in PB..

D
Pacific Beach Naval Retreat Center

This is the hub of PB. Small theatre with movies every day. A sweet little 4 lane bowling alley. Restaurant with the usual suspects, Burgers, pizza, chicken, steak, seafood. Lounge for nightcaps. They have a great little espresso bar in the cute giftshop, which also sells everything from beach necessitys to booze. The facility also has great play areas for the kids, there are two locations, on near the ocean, and one across the street farther south on Chandler stree. Everything here is open to the public, except for the lodging.

E
Wacky Warehouse

If you are looking for eccentric owners of local business, this is the place. Mr Wacky will mostly be found selling his wares from plumbing parts to piggy banks. There are some wild things to see here, he also has open mike Fridays were, if you dare, you can play a tune for all to hear, recite some poetry or just sing a song with your friends. Be Wacky at the Wacky..its worth going in and saying hey..you never know what you will find!

F
Falcons Nest

Burgers, ice cream, pizza breakfast. Old fashion drive in thats been operating for a long long time. Great french fries and shakes.

G
KXPB radio station

while you are at the beach (and on in the Coastal Nest when you arrive) is our local all volunteer radio station. It is also housed in Wacky Warehouse downtown. Its a fun, laidback beach radio station that plays random hits from long ago, to some newer tunes. I am sure there are original songs coming out of there too. The DJ personalities are like old friends, hysterical and fun to listen to at 89.1 on your FM dial. Your Host on the Coast.

Owner's Map of Pacific Beach

About us...Steve and Lisa have loved Pacific Beach for many years and found ourselves in the right place at the right time when this little treasure of a home came up for sale. Our young family happily and lovingly renovated every square inch of this place by ourselves. Living close by, we are able to enjoy coming out for the weekend and overnight trips when the kids aren't in school or sports of one thing or another. We hope you will like our little slice of heaven, too.

Secluded beach get-away

Guest: Michelle (Troy, ID USA)
Date of Stay: 04/23/12 Review Submitted: 05/01/12

Lisa said that we were the first couple ever to find her cottage while just driving by... My husband and I had decided that we wanted to rent a private beach cottage for a little time away from our building project. We decided that we might find some wonderful places if we just went looking on the road instead of searching the internet first. When we found the cottage I attempted to call for a rental but the cell phone did not work. We drove down the road to the resort and asked if there was anywhere where our phone would have service. They sent us up three flights to a small area of the roof where I was able to call Lisa and luckily the cottage was not booked. We originally decided to stay for two nights but had so much fun that we added a third day to our stay. I would advise you to plan a minimum of three days to fully enjoy the area. The food on Main Street at the coffee shop is good for breakfast and lunch and there are a few other good choices for dinners. We did enjoy cooking our own meals at home mostly, since the cottage has a wonderful kitchen with all of the amenities imaginable. We do plan on going back for a wonderful time.

Owner response:HAHA!! You two were a blast to have out to the Coastal Nest Cottage! By far our most adventurous couple yet! I was so amazed to get your call from the roof of the Navy center..too funny. Glad you had such a fantastic time exploring our wonderful area. I KNEW you would love the Lake Quinault Lodge and the Olympic National Forest..Its truly a diamond of the area. Thanks again for FINDING us! Best, Lisa and Steve

Gorgeous Cottage!

Guest: dogmom (Puyallup, WA)
Date of Stay: 04/20/12 Review Submitted: 04/27/12

My family loved staying at the cottage! It was so cute and had everything we needed for the perfect weekend including gorgeous weather! But even if it had been rainy this would still be the best place to be! So many pet friendly places aren't very nice and we appreciated staying somewhere so beautifully done. Thank you so much...we will definitely be back soon!

Owner response:Thank you so much for coming to the cozy Coastal Nest Cottage. We are happy that you had a great time with your dog. We try very hard to make it perfect for everyone..including Rover..come back again, soon! Lisa and Steve

Cozy Comfort!

Guest: TNT (Lake Tapps, WA )
Date of Stay: 04/06/12 Review Submitted: 04/09/12

The photos don't even do justice to the beautiful decorating and ambience at the Coastal Nest! The open concept provided a spacious feeling, even with our three teenagers and puppy! There were games, puzzles and old movies as well as wi fi to keep everyone entertained when indoors, but we were blessed with beautiful weather and razor clam digging so enjoyed a lot of time outdoors and with two decks we always had access to the sun. A short walk into town, a short drive to the beach-we only wish we had more time to explore the local community. The cottage was cozy and so comfortable we can't wait to return. You won't be disappointed!

Owner response:Thanks for coming out to the beach, guys! We are happy you packed all that fun into one little weekend.. Hopefully you can return someday. We appreciate the review so much. Steve and Lisa

Great place to unwind, fully stocked cottage, walking distance from the water, great little tavern down the road with fun friendly locals. I would encourage anyone to check it out.

Owner response:Thanks, Jen! We are so happy you found the "Great Little Tavern" down the road..The Seagate serves up a great wicked cocktail along with an amazing karaoke songbook after you have downed a few of those drinks..Its definately alot of fun there. A brisk beach walk, in the morning to clear your head in the morning is a must. The beach approach is really a hop skip and a jump away. We hope you will come back soon! Lisa and Steve

Great Spring getaway

Guest: Kip (Renton)
Date of Stay: 03/30/12 Review Submitted: 04/03/12

Wow, what a find! I found everything I needed to have a great vacation here. The house is very comfortable, has a fully equipped kitchen, fire pit in the back, and a very hot shower--can't wait to come back! I was looking to get away from real life for a while, and this was the perfect solution.

Owner response:We are so happy you found our sweet spot to stay at Pacific Beach! We work really hard to make the cottage as comfortable and cozy as possible. A well stocked kitchen is a must when you venture out for a weekend. We have stayed very recently at a place that SAID they had a well stocked place...the kids ended up eating their cereal bowl out of a mixing bowl and a coffee cup..not fun. At the beach, who doesnt want to have a fire? Thats why we built a nice fire pit in the big back yard. The hot showers are plentiful..the forever hot water tank does the trick for the whole family, from the first kid to the daddy who usually gets the last one. No one will be without a nice hot bath or shower..promise. Thanks for the nice review, we hope you will come back again! Steve and Lisa

You know I read lots of great reviews before we came but until you get there you just cant appreciate this place enough. It was like having our own vacation home. Everything is there, everything was thought of. Lisa was even kind enough to bring us some good weather. We cant wait to come back.

Owner response:Erica, Thank you so much for a great review! We love to host a fun girlfriends getaway at our Coastal Nest. The fun starts as soon as you open the door! We really cant take credit for the weather, but really we would like to! Hope you can make it back again sometime..Tell your other girlfriends, we would be thrilled to host another getaway :) Lisa and Steve

Second visit as wonderful as the first!

Guest: Julie (Seattle, WA)
Date of Stay: 03/15/12 Review Submitted: 03/19/12

We visited Pacific Beach in the fall, and stayed at coastal nest. We enjoyed it so much that we quickly planned our next trip out, and just stayed for 3 nights. Only complaint I have is that it was too short! Once again, we loved the relaxed beachy feel of the cottage, and we nestled in. The place is equipped with everything you could need, and it is so comfortable and cozy. Our dog loved his beach romps, and we even took advantage of the proximity (30ish miles away) to Lake Quinault, and hiked a bit in the rainforest, really beautiful. We had a wonderful time at the cottage. Lisa and Steve really have a gem here, and have created a lovely inviting cottage!

Owner response:Again, we thank you so much for having yet another wonderful stay at our cozy Coastal Nest Cottage! Isnt the rainforest and the gigantic Lake Quinault so goreous and pristine! A very easy drive to the rustic and awe inspiring rainforest is a must when you have the time..Thanks again for coming! Lisa and Steve

Cozy Coastal Nest

Guest: Norene (Arlington, Washington)
Date of Stay: 03/08/12 Review Submitted: 03/13/12

What a wonderful time we 4 adults all had at Coastal Nest. Even though it rained during most of our stay, we were very cozy inside playing games, cooking great meals (even tried making Oysters Rockefeller) and watching movies. The owners have provided a great variety of videos and we enjoyed watching some classic John Wayne movies. This cottage is so welcoming and comfortable that it was hard to leave. But, we know we'll plan to visit again now that we've found such a cozy Nest!

Owner response:Thanks so much for a great review..we hope that you can come back again soon..maybe when it quits raining! Glad you had a wonderful time cooking and movie watching..it is an ecclectic bunch of movies we have. Thanks again, Lisa and STeve

I love this place !!!

Guest: tina louise (seattle)
Date of Stay: 03/16/11 Review Submitted: 03/06/12

This cottage is so adorable ! It's like Martha Stewart designed everything. Cozy and warm and had all the kitchen utensils that I as a chef needed. I lounged around with my girl friend and dog like I was in my own house, but better ! The Wifi connection is great to stream movies from a lap top and just a brisk 10 minute walk to the beach was perfect. Would I go back there again ?? The question is can I move in there and stay forever !!!!!
