One of the Nicest Cabins on the Mountain - Just Read Reviews!

Sycamore Lodge is truly one of the nicest cabins or should we say luxury lodge on the mountain! Our last guest wrote 'our mouths fell open when we pulled up to your gate. Pictures do not do your cabin justice!'
Our 3 story cabin is almost 3000 sq ft and has 25 ft open beam ceilings. The focal point is our 3 story rock fireplace straight out of a historic lodge. Directly above is our 3 feet high antler chandelier. Every detail has been custom done and uniquely designed. The floors are reclaimed wood with 3 borders and custom details at every turn. The banisters on the second and third floor are wood with iron railings to give the cabin an open air feel.
The kitchen is a chef's dream. Commercial grade appliances including copper sink, pot filler, wine cooler, dishwasher, hand blown glass lights and even heated floors for those winter mornings. There is a breakfast bar that joins the kitchen made out of a tree!
The cabin easily sleeps 10 with 3 separate bedrooms (each with hand made commissioned beds) plus separate nook with twin and the third floor hosts an additional futon. One of the bedrooms has 2 additional lofts that are accessible only by a rocking climbing wall. Perfect for kids!! Second guest bedroom has bunk beds with a full and a twin mattress. Two baths with 60' copper bathtub and river rock shower are truly one of a kind. The vanity is even a custom designed iron tree that holds a European sink and faucet. There are two sitting areas for the family to relax in that includes plasma TV, games, books etc. We have 100+ movies and we also offer free wireless internet.
All of this sits on a gated, private one acre lot that backs up to another 14 forested acres. The driveway takes you back several hundred feet into the woods for a private oasis whether you are coming back from an exhausting day of skiing or hiking. There is an outdoor fire pit with Adirondack chairs for roasting marshmallows or just staring at the stars with a glass of wine. There is even a professionally done swing for the kids to safely play on.

We enjoyed every single moment of our stay at Sycamore Lodge! The pictures gave us an idea how beautiful it was, but not how big it was or how charming! We loved the decor and all the cozy amenities that made us feel right at home. The owners have thought of every little detail, from moose sconces to vintage snowshoes decorating the walls of one room, to the beautifully stocked kitchen with the heated floor, to the big dining room table where we played board games after eating dinner. They've really thought of every modern convenience, while maintaining that rustic feel. We loved the third floor loft! It was so fun to explore and find all the hidden nooks and crannies. Our 14 year-old especially liked the bed at the end of the hallway on the second floor. It became her special spot, with her own reading light, where she could hideaway whenever she wanted to. There was snow on the ground when we were there in early January, so it was beautiful and very cold outside! We snowshoed and had such a wonderful weekend! We can't wait to come back and experience Sycamore Lodge in the summer time! Thank you for sharing this beautiful cabin with us!Recommended for: People with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

Our family traveled from near and far to spend Christmas on the mountain. We were truly blessed to spend this special time in such an amazing home. The design, craftsmanship and layout are wonderful and the perfect location for a family or group of friends. We kept the stone fire place burning and a couple of, our children asked if I had put up the tree and all the lovely Christmas decorations. I had not! And I am very appreciative of the owner thinking of every detail needed to create such a magical environment for us to spend this holiday. We even woke to a six inch snowfall on Christmas morning! Quite a treat for travelers from South Texas.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

This was an unforgettable stay! The cabin, which really is more like a fancy mini-lodge is both cozy and luxurious. The sitting is beautiful and quiet. Excellent details throughout the cabin and the owners' thoughtful personal touches can be found everywhere. One really needs to be there to truly appreciate the love that was poured in to make this unique cabin. Our two children (6 and 9) had a fantastic time exploring and finding their own special spots to play games and relax throughout the cabin. They also learned to ski during this trip. Thank you for the wonderful tips on ski lessons. At the end of each day coming back to the cabin was something that put a huge smile on everyone's faces. We made every meal in the cabin and enjoyed sitting, chatting and being with each other. Our only suggestion would be some type of a tempurpedic mattress pad or a pillow top mattress for the double beds. My husband and I are not used to such a firm bed and soft pillows. After an exhausting day of ski it would be nice to have some kind of back and head support for a restful night. Other than that the stay was amazing in every way. We will be back for sure! Thank you for a memorable time!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

This cabin was amazing, tucked away in a lovely grove of forest, quite picturesque. We absolutely loved staying here and can't wait to return. The cabin is beautiful, very comfortable, lots of space for everyone to spread out and yet cozy at the same time. We look forward to coming up during the snow season to get some skiing in too. It is a quick drive to all the downhill ski areas and I'm sure tons of cross country trails as well. The Kitchen is amazing and is well stocked. It was truly a pleasure to stay here. Thank you!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children.

We had a great weekend here catching up with friends! The owners were extremely helpful in answering all of our questions and the entire rental process was stress-free. The pictures really don't do it justice. The lodge was spacious enough for our group of ten but still extremely cozy and welcoming. We loved coming home to the fireplace, the copper tub, and the heated floors in the kitchen after a long day of skiing. The kitchen was excellent for cooking and very well stocked. Everything in the cabin was luxurious—just what we were looking for and more! We’ll definitely be back again soon, thank you!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Appreciate the kind words! We try very hard to make it a luxurious home away from home! Come back and see us anytime!

Our family of five rented Sycamore Lodge for our Christmas holiday. The cabin was decorated for the holidays with a live, lit tree and unique Santas everywhere! It truly put us in the spirit. The lodgings were clean, spacious, comfortable, and very unique. It is a beautiful cabin in a beautiful setting. The pictures on the VRBO website intrigued us, but the actual cabin exceeded our expectations. Spending a week in someone's house really tests the environment. We are a family that loves to cook, so we gave the kitchen a good workout. Never did we say, I wish I had this or I wish I had that. Everything was provided including a pizza stone that we put to use in baking homemade bread! We planned to have a ski vacation, but the weather did not cooperate. However, there was so much else to do that we were not disappointed. We hiked, skied one day and even went cosmic tubing! Sometimes it was just hard leaving the comfort of the fire and cozy couches. This cabin is so well situated. It is close to multiple ski resorts, a grocery store, so many hiking trails and pretty good restaurants. Needless to say, we had a memorable Christmas in Oregon!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much for this wonderful review, Jennifer! Your family were welcome guests and left the cabin spotless! Please come back and see us again up on the mountain at Sycamore Lodge!

What a perfect alpine retreat! We loved the huge copper bathtub -- so relaxing with the mountain breeze coming through the window. The house is spacious yet homey, with a great mix of common-room-social-gathering spaces and private-reading-napping-resting alcoves. Big, well-equipped kitchen and lovely fireplace. Also, we are a group of dog lovers who left our beloved pets at home, so we LOVED the neighborly visits from sweet black lab Ellie, and thought it was awesome that the owners leave treats for her. We'll definitely be back! We tried to hike to Ramona Falls (trailhead just a few miles up the road) but the bridge hadn't been put in place for the summer season yet and we decided not to brave a Sandy River crossing. Hopefully next time!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

This cabin is even better than the photos. The construction and detail is of the highest quality and is that which you'd find in a custom home. The various nooks to rest, read a book or grab a nap are fantastic. We were able to fit two families with four kids total and still feel like we had room. The kids had trouble deciding where they wanted to sleep each night as there are so many fun choices - rock wall beds, nook, loft area. The grounds are beautiful and the tree swing is hours of fun even in winter. Proximity to the highway and the venerable Zig Zag Inn are just 5 minutes away.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

We just spent two nights at Sycamore and wish we could have spent 10 more! There were so many fun areas to spend time together. We played games, and cooked some amazing meals in the fantastic kitchen! The dining table seated our entire extended family! If you are considering this for a vacation or weekend getaway we would HIGHLY recommend! Also, no additional cleaning fee and the place was immaculate!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much for taking the time to write this review! We love it when families get to enjoy the lodge and spend quality time together. We designed it just for that purpose! We have been so very fortunate with the quality of people we have had stay and the great care they have taken with our home. Much appreciated and hope to see you again!

About the owner: We are a family of four that loves to travel and decided to incorporate everything we love when we do our own traveling into our vacation cabin. It is our goal for our guests to want for nothing.
Why the Owner Chose Rhododendron:
We love Mount Hood and Oregon! What is there not to love? Skiing, snowboarding, holidays in the winter and hiking, swimming, fishing, golf, tennis in the summer! This is absolutely a lifetime dream come true and we look forward to talking to our guests after their stay to hear about their experience and if our cabin lived up to their expectation. We are not ashamed to admit there has not been a single guest that has told us they were disappointed!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We are only 5 minutes away from the main trailhead for the entire mountain and only 10 minutes away from Government camp and ski lifts. We have small trails on our own property for families to walk.
